Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You
Chapter 222: Pleading: Can You Give Her Back to Me?
CHAPTER 222: CHAPTER 222: PLEADING: CAN YOU GIVE HER BACK TO ME?
Julian Lawson felt like he was going insane just thinking about this possibility.
He couldn’t allow it, absolutely not!
The hand he placed to the side trembled slightly.
Having just returned from Darrow, he knew nothing and was in a state of shock, leaving him confused and angry about many things.
But now, he was afraid.
Genuinely afraid.
She actually agreed.
Even though she made it clear to him, and was with Silas Hawthorne right in front of him, he always believed she still belonged to him.
He secretly stayed not far from her rented place, watching them like a voyeur, confirming she still lived alone, confirming she wasn’t living with Silas Hawthorne under the same roof.
He kept reassuring himself that as long as they were just dating, they could still break up.
But if they got engaged...
Then their seven years together, and everything he hadn’t had a chance to tell her...
In an instant, Julian Lawson’s mind pictured her sleeping beside someone else, almost breaking him.
He tightly closed his eyes, trying not to think about it all.
The car drove all the way to a building’s parking lot.
"Julian, just got news that Silas Hawthorne’s car is parked here, they haven’t gotten out," Ian Yates’s voice grew softer as he spoke.
The car stopped, the driver left, why hadn’t the two of them gotten out?
Was there something that needed saying in the parking lot?
Ian Yates dared not look at Julian Lawson.
Julian’s expression didn’t change, but there was a faint "crack" sound, and Ian saw the screen of the phone in Julian’s hand shatter.
Ian Yates gasped; he had crushed the phone screen in anger.
Ian dared not say much and just quickly drove to the spot their people had found.
The Bentley parked there alone, and Julian Lawson walked straight toward it as he got out of the car.
Julian approached the car door, but he didn’t dare to knock.
Yet before he could decide, the car door opened, and Silas Hawthorne emerged.
Julian seized the chance to glance inside, seeing Serena Sterling asleep leaning to the other side.
As Silas gently closed the door, Julian saw the faint indent on Silas’s shoulder.
In an instant, he understood.
The car parked here because Serena fell asleep leaning on Silas!
She was always a light sleeper, and the experiences of her youth made her afraid to sleep deeply. During those years they were together, he’d witnessed her nightmares many times.
Back then, he was the one gently patting her back, telling her not to be afraid, that the past was over and he was by her side.
But now...
She trusted Silas Hawthorne so much!
Was she not afraid of what Silas might do to her as she slept?
Thinking about this, his heart couldn’t help but ache.
Silas had just closed the door, and Julian was about to say something, but Silas gestured for them to talk somewhere else.
Julian glared furiously at Silas but, after looking at the car, nodded.
Julian watched as Silas locked the car, ensuring she was safe, then followed him to another spot.
Silas measured the distance from the car in his mind, ensuring no sounds could be heard from there before he turned to face Julian.
Julian stared back coldly.
The two remained silent, with Ian Yates following from a distance.
In the next instant...
Silas swung his fist hard into Julian’s face.
"Julian!" Ian Yates was startled and rushed over.
But Silas didn’t stop, grabbing Julian’s collar and pinning him to the wall, punching him continually.
Meanwhile, Julian...
He didn’t resist, merely letting Silas’s fists land on his face and body.
"Silas!"
Finally, Ian hurried over and pulled Silas back.
"What are you doing? Why are you hitting him?" Ian panted, holding on.
"Let go!" Silas commanded coldly.
But Ian refused to release him.
Julian, meanwhile, lowered his head, blood from his injuries dripping from the corner of his mouth.
"Ha!"
Silas laughed, a mocking laugh.
He looked at Julian with cold eyes: "Julian Lawson, I once thought, even if you fell for Vera Hansen, you’d at least have some pity for Serena. But I misjudged you."
"Julian Lawson, you actually let Vera Hansen livestream from the wedding suite you once shared with Serena!"
"You didn’t even take down the wedding photos, or change the decor."
"Is making her the subject of public criticism and letting people with ill intentions extrapolate about your past with her what you want?"
"If that’s really the case, you’re truly a..." Silas’s eyes narrowed dangerously, and he said coldly, "despicable scoundrel!"
He raised his fist to strike again.
Ian quickly held him back.
"No, no! Wait..." Ian hurriedly tried to explain, "Julian didn’t know how Vera got in. Sir, I have a say in this, I know, because originally, Vera was supposed to livestream at my place."
"Sir, if you watched the livestream, you should’ve seen it was Jude Chaucer and I who broke in and stopped Vera’s livestream."
Silas glanced at Ian, who nodded.
Silas’s eyes narrowed dangerously, pondering who-knows-what.
With one hand held by Ian, his other gripping Julian’s collar.
Suddenly, he released Julian’s collar.
Just as Ian breathed a sigh of relief, Silas suddenly grabbed Julian’s face.
"Thud!"
Julian’s head hit the wall with a dull thud.
"Hey!" Ian rushed to pull away, but Silas’s other hand held him firmly.
Silas looked at the battered Julian.
"The harm is already done, and the one hurt is Serena."
Silas coldly met Julian’s gaze and asked further: "If Vera Hansen wanted to go livestream at The Hillside Villa, would you agree?"
Julian just stared at him, eyes red.
"Speak!" Silas commanded coldly.
"I wouldn’t," Julian said hoarsely, "I never intended for her to livestream there."
He hadn’t even let Vera into that house.
Long ago, when Vera sent flowers, it was always the butler he had receive them; he’d never let Vera step inside.
Because Serena had said, that was their home.
So, when he saw the butler mistakenly place a vase on the table back then, he immediately had it thrown out.
"I regret it." He said.
A tear rolled down from his eyes.
On the way here, he had figured out what had happened during the time he was away from Aeston.
Now, he couldn’t convince himself anymore that Vera Hansen was a kind person.
Or rather, he’d known all along; he just thought he could control everything, using something to blind himself.
"Don’t get engaged, don’t be with her." Julian’s voice was filled with plea.
"Silas."
"Please, give her back to me, okay?"
