Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You
Chapter 265: Not an Excuse, It’s Real
CHAPTER 265: CHAPTER 265: NOT AN EXCUSE, IT’S REAL
Serena lightly called out, covering her neck, but Julian still saw it.
Following the slip of the scarf, the scars on her neck were hideous, and they stretched all the way into her collar.
From Julian’s angle, he could see, beneath her clothes, scars everywhere.
Silas held her protectively in his arms, blocking Julian’s line of sight. His face was cold, his lips tightly pressed, as he snatched the scarf back from Julian’s hand.
"Don’t be afraid, Serena, I’ll tie it for you,"
Silas said softly, and then carefully arranged the scarf again for her, covering up those scars.
Julian just watched, the anger he had felt earlier vanished, replaced by helplessness.
Just moments ago, he noticed something was wrong with Serena.
He clearly only wanted to talk to her, but she seemed to suddenly... collapse.
Today, he... didn’t do what he did last time in the apartment, nor did he force her.
He brought people only to deal with Silas.
He had no other plans.
"What is wrong with her..." Julian couldn’t help but ask.
Silas didn’t look at him, just coldly said, "I told you, if you want her dead, keep provoking her!"
Julian looked at Silas in disbelief.
But saw the seriousness in Silas’s eyes, and the hatred for him.
He suddenly remembered what Silas said when he went to the hospital last time.
Her illness has worsened, and also...
Julian’s gaze fell on the scarf around Serena’s neck.
These wounds, Silas said she scrubbed her own body hard, even breaking the skin.
Previously, Silas had only told him this, he had no clear concept. But now, seeing Serena’s change and seeing these scars, he realized... things were not so simple.
She is really very ill.
Much more severe than he imagined.
"Get out!" Silas shouted harshly, glaring at Julian, and looking around at the nearby people.
The female bodyguards were very capable, at this moment standing guard beside the two.
Looking menacingly at those around.
These people didn’t move, only looking toward Julian.
And Julian was looking at Serena.
Serena said nothing, just turned her back, not looking at him.
Silas didn’t stop any further, protecting Serena as they walked straight out.
Whilst passing by Julian, Silas’s gaze lowered, looking at Julian’s injured leg.
"Hmph!"
With a cold snort, Silas lifted his foot and kicked Julian’s injured leg.
Julian fell to the ground, his teeth clenched, resisting the pain.
Silas lifted his foot again, kicking fiercely.
At this point, Julian’s people immediately rushed over to stop him.
Silas disdainfully looked at the crowd coming and going, tightly holding Serena’s hand, protecting her as they left.
Outside, Chloe was anxiously pacing in circles.
She had been guarding outside the changing room, and the staff had told her there were some urgent matters that needed a moment, very urgent.
But she had just left for a moment, and something happened!
"Serena!" Chloe called out anxiously.
Serena lifted her head, seeing Chloe’s self-reproachful and guilty look, she forced a smile, reaching out to pat Chloe’s shoulder.
"I’m fine, just suddenly saw someone outside the changing room and got startled," Serena found an excuse to comfort.
After pausing for a moment, remembering that they were supposed to have a meal together today, she said again, "I’m a bit tired, can’t have dinner together today, need to go back first. Chloe, if you want to eat something, later I’ll have someone take you to eat? Or whatever you want to eat, just put it on my tab."
Chloe didn’t even remember eating anymore!
Many things have happened recently in the Ford Family, today Jasper is dealing with matters at the old house, Jasper specifically mentioned Serena’s condition to her, telling her to take good care, and Silas even gave her a big red packet, now...
Serena noticed Chloe’s thoughts, she comforted, "Don’t think too much."
The one at fault wasn’t Chloe, it was Julian.
After speaking, Serena couldn’t hold on anymore and left with Silas.
Chloe stayed behind.
Silas’s people were still here blocking the way, not letting Julian leave.
At this moment, Chloe stormed into the changing area angrily.
Julian had already been helped back into the wheelchair, while someone beside him handed him a cloth to wipe the cold sweat from the pain just now.
Chloe quickly stepped forward.
"Smack!"
She raised her hand and slapped Julian across the face.
People around immediately gathered, Chloe’s heart pounding like a drum, yet she stubbornly stood, firmly facing Julian’s angry gaze.
She was just an ordinary worker.
Normally, she wouldn’t, nor dared to confront these big figures, especially since Julian was still the president of the Lawson Group.
The Lawson Group, the leading giant in the top three of Aeston!
But she was also someone with feelings, with passion!
Since she first met Serena through "Heavenly Sound", Serena was always nice to her.
Initially, when she unknowingly praised Vera in front of Serena, Serena never held it against her, and even Serena was much easier to get along with compared to many other artists, giving her better treatment than regular assistants!
Gradually, she already treated Serena as a friend.
She knew barging in was impulsive, but she didn’t regret it.
"Julian, you’re despicable!" Chloe accused angrily.
"Do you know that because of what you did last time, Serena has been undergoing treatment recently?"
"Do you know how hard it was for her to recover somewhat, barely coming out to work, yet you come to provoke her again!"
"She doesn’t want you, being with Mr. Hawthorne is just what you deserve!"
Chloe shouted angrily.
She now felt Vera and Julian were a perfect match.
Best to tie themselves down, not come out to harm others!
Vera should best hold tight to her dog’s leash, not let Julian bark wildly everywhere!
"You!" Julian’s anger surged.
"What about me?" Chloe bravely responded, "What are you going to do to me?"
"The one who wanted to divorce Serena was you, the one who forcefully bought Serena’s song for Vera was you, the one who competed with Serena over Tanzanite was you, the one who helped Vera bully Serena on the show was you, the one who forcefully abducted her was still you!"
"Julian, which word I’ve said did wrong you?"
"Open your eyes and look, she’s really... about to break down, don’t hurt her anymore."
Chloe suppressed her surging emotions: "If this continues, she might really..."
Chloe didn’t finish her sentence, swallowing the words, she turned and left.
A crowd blocked the door, Chloe glared at them.
"Let her go." Finally, Julian’s voice came from behind.
The crowd then made way, Chloe left under Silas’s people’s escort.
In the vast changing room waiting area, Julian sat in a wheelchair.
What appeared before him was Serena’s earlier look, and Chloe’s words.
He understood what Chloe hadn’t finished saying meant.
She might go insane, even die.
For the first time ever, Julian realized this wasn’t an excuse Silas used to attack him.
It was real.
