CHAPTER 887: DETAILED REPORTS

"What is wrong with that tower? I went there yesterday. I can already tell that the place is filled with your secrets."

Axel’s voice rose with each sentence. He didn’t care what happened to the town; he only cared for his team members. If the mayor was hiding something that negatively impacted his team, then he would never forgive himself.

"Mr. Axel, I assure you that this is the secret every mayor must keep. And it doesn’t concern you. This will not affect the tide battle. The only thing that will affect it is the number of ghost-type Pokemon.", said the mayor, trying to calm Axel.

"Mr. Mayor, I don’t care about your town’s history or culture. I only care about defending it from the wild Pokemon and keeping my team safe.

You just said the secrets you held would not affect the tide battle, but they already have. We will face more ghost-type Pokémon than we normally do, and this is the change.

We are in an unknown territory here. We don’t know if the ghost-type Pokémon we will face will be stronger than usual. We don’t know the reason for the increase in ghost-type Pokémon. We will be facing ghost-type Pokémon during the daytime, too? There are a lot of questions that need answers."

"And I will answer each of them, but I cannot tell you the secrets. There are some secrets you better not know.", said the mayor, trying to convince Axel again.

The mayor didn’t want to tell the secret, but he had agreed to tell him everything else. So, there was nothing Axel could do. Well, there was one thing he could do.

He could let Shedinja investigate the tower. For some reason, Axel felt a ghost-type Pokemon would have some strong connection with that tower.

Emma also had a ghost-type Pokemon, but it was not as strong as Shedinja, which was now a pseudo-champion rank Pokemon.

###

Since the mayor had agreed to make the changes as Axel saw fit, the southern border was changing significantly. The watch towers were repaired, the trees there uprooted, and many things were happening.

More than 20 days were left, and many things could change in these 20 days. But Axel didn’t want to harshly train his Pokemon. It was not that his Pokemon could get stronger in these 20 days. They were already in the king ranks, and would need a lot of time to reach the next rank.

Pokemon like Pawniard, Koffing, and Aron were not participating in this tide battle. Aron was close to its evolution, but Axel had deliberately held off its evolution.

Aron was just like Weedle when it evolved into Beedrill. Its power and future potential heavily depended on resources, and Axel wanted Aron to be its last defense line.

A week had passed very quickly. Axel was looking at the maps of the southern border. He had practically memorized them by now. The commanders were busy training their soldiers. The training mostly consisted of team fights and how to deal with different situations.

The most interesting team was Tory’s. He was the head of the teleportation team, and Axel had to pay special attention to him.

Because of the schedule of other commanders, Tory had to take this responsibility, but since he didn’t even have a single psychic-type Pokémon, his reputation in the team was downright low.

But Serena changed everything. She was the teacher for Tory and his team. Being a god rank psychic type Pokemon, she was perfect for the job. She also gave her 2 Ralts to train.

After much discussion, his team came to the conclusion that if Tory could not train even one Ralts to an elemental rank in three months, he would resign from this position.

Raising a common rank Pokemon to elemental rank in three months was a tough task, but Tory did it.

Along with the respect of his team members, he also held the seat of the rightful commander of the teleportation team.

###

"Tory, how is the training going between the teleportation team. You know that you should divide your team members into night and day. They must be very adept at saving our teammates.", said Axel.

Tory looked at his 7000 teammates with pride and said, "Sir, we are ready for the tide. First, we must know whether day or night will be busy since we are dealing with ghost-type Pokemon.

We have not only trained in ’Teleport’ but also in moves like ’Calm mind’, ’Agility’, ’Barrier’, ’Psychic terrain’, and a new move called ’Misty’ that is like a downgrade version of ’Mist ball’.

We have only trained on these 5-6 moves for three months. We have been trained to use them in different circumstances and increase the speed of those moves.

We are more than ready for the tide."

"Hmm, that is a relief. Serena did train you guys to the bone, as expected of her," said Axel, nodding his head.

A teleportation team should be fast and able to defend their allies in need.

So, to increase their speed, they trained in ’Agility’ and also in moves like ’Calm mind’, which increased the power of their special attack moves.

They have also trained in moves like ’Barrier’, ’Psychic terrain’, and ’Misty’ to improve their effectiveness.

Serena had a signature move, ’Mist ball. ’ It might seem like a regular move, but it really wasn’t if she used it.

It not only dealt damage but also created mist in the surrounding area, which lowered the target’s special attack along with their vision and senses.

Of course, since the move was special, it was also tough to learn. So, Serena taught them the downgraded version of the move called ’Misty’.

Even though it was not as powerful as ’Mist Ball’, it had its uses.

Even though Tory looked at the teleportation team like a proud father, he knew that it was Serena who trained the team to this level. He would have never been able to do such a thing in three months.

Tory didn’t know where she came from or what her relationship with Axel was because Axel didn’t bother to say anything about her. But he could already tell that she was not a normal person.

###

After a week, a lot of things changed on the southern border. The watch towers were ready and new, and the trees that covered the southern border were already cleared. Also, multiple camps and strategic big rocks were placed by Axel’s command.

"Sir, the mayor has given us a new update. We are told to go to the meeting in 15 minutes," said Hector.

Axel was expecting the mayor’s call. They knew that for some reason, they had to fight against a lot of ghost-type Pokemon, but they didn’t know the reason for it.

Finally, more information about the tide had come up. The mayor had called him for the same reason.

###

This time, everyone came quickly to the meeting except for Axel and Krishna. They were worried about the tide battle and wanted all the information.

Finally, Axel and Krishna came.

Axel’s position was a weird one. The meeting hall consisted mostly of league soldiers, the village mayor, and soldiers. Axel was a mercenary, but he was also the first knight.

He was also the youngest person in this meeting. The mayor didn’t know whether to treat Axel as a child or a senior. But after talking to him previously, he knew that the young man could not be underestimated.

Axel and his team also took on the heavy responsibility of defending the southern side, which would be facing the most wild Pokemon.

"The device has given us the information. We have also sent spies to look at the enemy camp, and we now have a good understanding of what we will face.", said the mayor.

The mayor looked around and found out that he had the room’s attention. He spoke again.

"Let’s talk about the southern side. Mr. Axel, your side will be facing at most around 800k Pokemon. We could not properly count the number of rare ranks and elemental ranks. Still, we could estimate around 200k pseudo-king rank Pokemon, 50 king rank Pokemon, and one might even be a pseudo-champion rank Pokemon."

A couple of people gave a low gasp after hearing the announcement. 50 king rank Pokemon? That was a lot. All of them knew that 50 of them would not attack at the same time, but the number was very high. Also, possibly having a pseudo-champion rank Pokemon made the southern border a nightmare.

Gary thanked the gods that he didn’t have to defend the southern border.

Yet, Axel was not so surprised about it. He didn’t know any reaction. This added to his mystery. How powerful was he?

No one knew, but they could now tell that he was vastly more powerful than they. A 17-18-year-old kid more powerful than 40 a 40-year-old soldier? How did it even make sense?

"Can you tell me the tiers of king-rank Pokemon that we will be facing?", asked Axel.

"I don’t know about the exact number, but around 10 of them are in tier 3, 10 of them are in tier 2, and the rest are in tier 1.

Also, the Pokemon species that you should look out for are in this folder. You can check and verify."

The mayor went on to explain the situation of other borders. Axel realized that they didn’t have to face such a harsh battle in the next two weeks. For example, the eastern border only had to face around 200k Pokemon, and among them were only 5 king-rank Pokemon.

Yet, Sujan, the commander of the eastern side, was giving a bad look. Axel didn’t know how experienced or powerful these commanders were, but he could already tell they didn’t have the guts to oppose him.

Seeing his calm demeanor had frightened these commanders, and he would take advantage of it.

After the mayor reported all that he had to do, there was a brief silence in the room. Each of them was responsible for their side. Axel realized that the mayor had stationed a large number of soldiers on the central side, which was the least risky area of any tide battle.

Because the central side represents the town itself, the soldiers were only responsible for communicating with the other sides for reinforcement if needed, and they had to pacify the citizens.

"Mr. Mayor, this is the first time in the history of the tide battle that I have seen so many soldiers stationed in the central region. Now, I am not responsible for the central region. Only for the southern area. But I need to know why you are doing such a thing?", asked Axel.
