CHAPTER 892: THE FAVOR

"Sigh, it looks like we are in some big trouble.", said Axel.

"What do you mean? Gengar will take care of those spirits, so there is nothing to worry about. This might even decrease the pressure of the tide battle, which we will face," said Mia.

"That is where you are wrong. Gengar is only thinking of freeing them so that they will not be a hindrance in the future.

But have you given any thought to what will happen when so much ghost-type energy flows out of that tower?", asked Axel.

Everyone was stunned. None of them had thought of such an issue.

"Let me tell you what will happen. First, the residents of this town might die from the pressure of such a vast quantity and higher quality of ghost-type energy.

Also, those wild ghost-type Pokemon are planning to raid us, and might even get excited and attack us simultaneously. At that time, we will not be able to hold them."

Axel was right. If all of the ghost-type Pokemon they would face in the tide battle attacked simultaneously, there was no way they would come out of it alive.

"Then what should we do?", asked Dorry.

It was when people would panic, but they were the commanders of a mercenary team. They didn’t have such a luxury.

"We need to find a way to store all that ghost-type energy in something, just like that locket.

That is the only way we can save this town and ourselves."

"But how do we do that?", asked Sam.

They started to think of a way to seal all that energy. Suddenly, Axel had a thought.

"There might be a way to seal all that power.", said Axel with a hint of surprise.

"Really? You have a way to do it?"

"I might. I can’t be sure about it, but I will try," said Axel with a smile.

"Hector, I need to meet with Latias as soon as possible. How fast can I meet it?", asked Axel.

"It will take about a day to reach there. I can get the plane ready.", replied Hector.

The next day,

Axel and all of his commanders, as well as his Shedinja and Gengar, were in a meeting hall. They were having a private meeting. But there was another Pokemon with them.

It was a humanoid Pokemon. Blue growths resembling clown hair extended from the sides of its pale pink head, with a magenta circle on each cheek. Its jaw was curved inward, resembling the mouth of a wooden dummy. It had a round, white body with a magenta spot in the middle, light pink arms and legs connected to its body via magenta spheres, and small white coverings over its knees. Its white hands resembled gloves with magenta pads on the tips of its white fingers, and its dark blue feet curled upward at the tips.

It was Mr. Mime.

But this was not the simple Mr. Mime. He was Lumos, the wandering sage.

Lumos was not only a god-ranked Pokemon, but was also very interesting. This guy knew a lot of barrier-type moves. His barrier could not only be used for defense but also for sealing, attacking, and escaping. Lumos had been living where Latias lived, and it was a very old Pokemon. Even Latias didn’t know how old it was.

"Master Lumos, I need your help in..."

At Laitias’s request, Lumos agreed to help Axel. This request was very costly to Latias, as it required using a favor for Lumos to agree.

"Hmm, so you want me to seal all that ghost-type energy inside some locket that could be used anytime to train and be consumed in the future.

Yes, that can be done.", said Lumos.

Axel also showed the locket, and Lumos commented, "Oh, this is one of my creations."

Seriously, this guy was too OP. Nobody knew when he was born or what his purpose was. He only helped Axel because the Latias tribe had sheltered him, helped him in numerous circumstances, and never bothered him.

Even the locket, which was considered an heirloom of Gengar’s tribe, had been created by Lumos.

The commanders were quite surprised to know the influence of Axel. In just 2 days, they had met with three god-rank Pokemon through Axel’s connections.

He was truly meant to save this world.

After a few hours, it was now time to do the deed. The entire town looked deserted. Except for the street lights and the light from the tower, there was no light source.

Those two guards easily fell into Shedinja’s ’Hypnosis’, and Lumos entered the tower with Axel, Gengar, and his Pokemon.

The commanders also wanted to come, but the place could not be too crowded, or the mayor might find out. So, only Alon had come with Axel.

Lumos walked and moved differently from what a normal Mr. Mime would move. But this was the least surprising thing for Axel and Alon. It was his newly created moves that flabbergasted them.

He had created more than 100 moves himself, and each was trained to an absolute level.

Axel truly believed that if Lumos wanted, he could be the most powerful god-rank Pokemon ever to exist.

Gengar looked around as it said, "You were right, Marcus. These spirits have grown powerful, and now it is harder to release them. But don’t worry, I will give my all."

"How much ghost-type energy is stored in this tower?", asked Alon. He was curious to know about them.

"Most of the ghost-type energy has been sealed inside their spirit, so we cannot properly feel it, but if I were to guess, it is enough to make a common rank Pokemon a god rank Pokemon. If that Pokémon could take all this energy and use it to its advantage, which is extremely hard to do.", said Gengar.

Axel was shocked to hear the amount of ghost-type energy in this tower. Gengar could understand why he was surprised. A god-rank Pokemon was a different being compared to pseudo-champion rank Pokemon.

"Ghost-type energy is very different than other types. They are very weak initially, but we have the power of long life. So, we can slowly accumulate our power, refine and manipulate it. A 1000 years is a long time. In these 1000 years, the ghost-type energy have not only been refined and improved but the tower itself is sucking the ghost-type energy for 1000 years. You can imagine how much that amount would be.", said Gengar.

Gengar and Lumos started to discuss how to deal with this situation. Lumos’s barrier could do anything, but he still needed help from Gengar, as it specialized in ghost-type energy.

After talking for some time, they had come up with an idea. Gengar closed his eyes and started to move his hand. Suddenly, Axel and Alon saw a spirit materialize in front of Gengar, but all the ghost-type energy of that spirit seemed to be sucked by Lumos’s barrier. Lumos’s entire body was glowing in purple and blue light. Axel could tell from his Aura sense that it used ghost and psychic energy.

When Gengar and Lumos performed their magic, the spirits screamed in pain, making it difficult to watch.

"This is necessary. They must go to the higher worlds and be reincarnated.", said Shedinja.

The tower had thousands of spirits, and it took several hours to seal all that ghost-type energy. Lumos was using its move and sucking all those ghost-type energy in another locket that it had made out of nowhere.

As the ghost-type energy from those spirits was taken away, Gengar did something, and those spirits started to float above. They moved past the tower’s ceiling, and they were finally released.

Axel’s suppression started to decrease gradually until he felt no suppression.

"So, have all the ghost-type energy been sucked away in that locket?", asked Axel.

"Yes, it has been done, but this is just a temporary solution.", said Gengar.

"Temporary? But why?"

"Let’s talk about this after we get out of here. I can feel that some of the townspeople have woken up.", said Gengar.

"This is a temporary solution because the tower still sucks ghost-type energy. Of course, the rate at which it stores energy is very slow, but it is still doing it.

And now, there are no spirits that could store and seal these ghost-type energies inside them. So, when the tower sucks and stores the ghost-type energy inside them, then the people of the town might be affected.", said Gengar.

"Do you have a way to make it normal?" asked Axel.

"I have some theory on how to do it, but I cannot be sure, and I feel that if something bad happens, it might not turn out well. So, you should consult with the higher authorities.", said Gengar, hinting at saying it to Oak and Red.

Axel agreed to this suggestion. This was not an immediate problem, and he could discuss this problem after the end of the tide battle.

Only a week was left before the start of the tide battle. So, Axel and his team started to get busy, but he was immediately interrupted by the mayor’s call.

"Sir, the mayor has asked for another emergency meeting. We are supposed to arrive in 30 minutes.", said Ashmita.

Axel didn’t know this meeting was about. A part of him felt that the mayor knew what he had done to the tower. Axel didn’t want to fight with the mayor right now, just before the start of the tide battle, but since this was an emergency meeting, he had to attend.

When Axel and Krishna arrived at the meeting room, they saw that everyone had arrived. The mayor looked tense for some reason and looked impatient.

This was not a good sign, especially before the start of the tide battle.

Axel and Krishna found their seats, and Axel didn’t waste any time and asked, "So, Mr. Mayor. What is this call all about? I am very busy with the tide battle, so let’s end the meeting soon. Please say what you have to say."

Axel could tell that other people in this meeting room also had some slight idea about the agenda of this meeting. Only he and Kirshna were in the unknown.

"Mr. Axel, as you must remember, about the secret that every mayor in this town must keep.", started the mayor.

"Yes, you refuse to tell me anything about it, and I respect that. What about it?"

"I promised you that, except for the increase in the number of ghost-type Pokemon you will be facing in the tide battle, there will not be any effect from my secret.

Well, that might change now. The meeting is all about this."

Axel now knew it was about the tower, and the mayor knew something had happened inside it.

But he had to carry the act. So, he acted angry and asked in a slightly loud voice, "So, what are the changes, and you still don’t want to tell me about the secret, do you?"
