CHAPTER 898: AERIAL BATTLE

Axel and the team have extensively prepared for flying-type Pokemon. One of the disadvantages of fighting with these types of Pokemon was that the normal traps would not work on them.

Mark had developed some form of gas that would obstruct them, but these gasses would also affect the ally Pokemon, so they could not be used. The technology for traps to deal with these flying-type Pokemon was still a work in progress.

So, the Pokemon had to personally deal with these flying-type Pokemon.

###

Axel wanted to see the progress of his young Pokemon, but he didn’t have the time for it right now. Another difficulty in dealing with flying-type Pokemon was that the team had to segregate their members between dealing with land Pokemon and flying-type Pokemon.

Because both of them would attack at the same time!!

Axel hurriedly went to the watch tower and first looked at the state of his young Pokemon. He discovered that Gogoat had it covered, and Togekiss did a good job leading the team.

The flying-type Pokemon were not targeting them, so he looked at the overall status of the fight. He could already spot some king rank flying-type Pokemon among them.

"How many are we dealing with right now?"

"Around 15k flying-type Pokemon. Most of them are in elemental and pseudo-king rank.", reported Kane, the leader of the flying team.

"That is a generous number. How many king rank Pokemon are we facing?", asked Axel.

"5 of them. 2 of them are in tier 2 king rank, while 3 are tier 1."

They were supposed to deal with 50 king rank Pokemon with 10 tier 3 king rank, 10 tier 2 king rank, and 30 tier 1 king rank Pokemon.

They have dealt with 1 tier 3 king rank, 3 tier 2 king rank, and 10 tier 1 king rank Pokemon until now.

Axel had specifically trained 2 teams to deal with flying-type Pokemon. The thunder team and flying team were led by Sam and Kane, respectively.

Last time, Axel and the team had suffered a lot from flying-type Pokemon. This time, he was well prepared for it.

"I will deal with the 2 tier 2 king rank Pokemon. You and Sam will deal with those 3 tier 1 king rank Pokemon. Can you handle it?", asked Axel.

Both of them nodded their heads.

###

There were many strategies on how to deal with flying-type Pokemon. Sam, the leader of the thunder team, had some of them to deal with.

The first was to deal with the horde of flying-type Pokemon and stop them, even for a few seconds, so that others would have time to prepare appropriately.

This was done through the move ’Thunder Wave’. Other electric moves could also paralyze the target, but’ Thunder Wave’ had the highest chance because it was created solely to paralyze the target.

One Pokemon using the move against a horde of Pokemon might not have the impact that one would expect, but if all the Pokemon in the Thunder team used the move against the flying-type Pokemon, the result would be devastating.

Of course, this move could only be used once before the start of the battle because after using it, Kane’s team would be dealing with them, and using it again might hurt ally Pokemon.

So, before the battle started properly, when the number of wild Pokemon coming towards them was at its maximum, the Thunder team used the move.

BANNG!!!!

It felt as if the sky was lit by yellow light when 2500 members of the Thunder team commanded their Pokemon to use the move ’Thunder Wave’. There were approximately 6000 Pokemon under Thunder team.

The might of that ’Thunder wave’ was not to be underestimated. Some of the weak elemental rank Pokemon even fell to the ground by the combined power of the attack.

Even though the move didn’t hurt much, as its primary function was to paralyze the target, it decreased the minimum health. Those elemental rank flying type Pokemon that had just reached elemental rank were very weak to resist the combined power of the move.

"Tck..."

Sam clicked his tongue, looking at the effects of the move. He expected more. Around 50% of the Pokemon had been paralyzed, and most of them were elemental rank Pokemon.

That was a great result, but Sam was not satisfied.

Axel looked at the effects and said, "Your team did a good job, but you guys need to work even harder."

First of all, the combined move did not even cover all the 15k Pokemon that were flying towards them. Second, many ’Thunder Wave’ moves collided with each other, nullifying their effects. Of course, these collisions did create an explosion, which increased the death rate of those flying-type Pokemon, but the number was not so much to be happy about.

Sam and his team had trained to avoid the collision and spread the effect as much as possible, but only three months of training was clearly not enough. Still, it was a start.

After that, the flying-type Pokemon headed by Kane started to move. Some of them that were completely paralyzed started to fall to the ground, and they were swiftly dealt with by electric-type Pokemon. A team of rock-type Pokemon was also helping the electric-type Pokemon in this endeavor.

The Thunder team used the second ’Thunder wave’ to deal with the partially paralyzed and still in the sky.

The work of electric-type and rock-type Pokemon had increased. Some of the ground and rock-type Pokemon had used the move ’Dig’ to dig up a massive hole where most flying-type Pokemon were falling. They would then use moves like ’Earthquakes’ to deal with them swiftly.

But the responsibility of the Thunder team was still not over.

While the flying-type Pokemon dealt with the aerial threat, the thunder acted as a backup for their protection.

It was now Kane’s team to sign. Training a flying-type Pokemon was not so easy. It was even harder to select a perfect member for the team because not many have multiple flying-type Pokemon in their team.

Kane’s team had only 1000 members and around 4000 flying-type Pokemon. That was not so much when one considered the 15,000 wild flying-type Pokemon.

That was why Axel had extensively prepared to deal with flying-type threats.

As Kane gave the order, 1000 flying-type Pokemon started to attack at the same time. All of them used only one move, ’Hurricane’.

If only one Pokemon were to use the move, it might not look so majestic, but when 1000 of them used it at the same time, it was a sight to behold.

But why were only 1000 of them attacking with the move simultaneously? Why not 4000? There was a simple reason for it. There was no space in the sky to hold all 1000 Pokemon simultaneously to use that attack effectively.

’Hurricane’ would let the Pokemon use its wings to create fierce winds to attack the target. So, while using this move by multiple Pokemon, the ally Pokemon could use the attack behind another ally because that would affect the ally Pokemon too.

But even with 1000 Pokemon using the move, it was quite a majestic sight. The wind atmosphere completely took a drastic turn, and a fierce wind blew towards the opposing side. The force of that attack could not even be imagined.

Of course, the opposing Pokemon were also well-versed in this technique. But none of them were working together. This was the most significant advantage that Axel and the team had.

Some tried to fly high or low to avoid those fierce winds. Some of the stupid ones used their own ’Hurricane’ to counterattack the move, which was a big failure.

The move was continuous. When 1000 Pokemon used the move, another 1000 replaced them. Kane and the team had trained in this sequence for 3 months. So, it was done rapidly with no interference.

Now, the move ’Hurricane’ would not only injure the wild Pokemon and stall them, it would also have a chance to confuse the target. Confusion was very deadly, especially during the tide battle.

So, some of the elemental rank Pokemon could not live to see another minute after they were hit by multiple combined ’Hurricane’.

Unlike the move ’Thunder Wave,’ which collided and nullified each other, the move ’Hurricane’ didn’t because once the direction of the wind was established, it was easy to combine the moves.

The move was devastating. Even the Pokemon fighting on land were affected by it. Even though he was wearing goggles, Axel could not even open his eyes.

After using the move four times, the majority of wild Pokemon were confused. Many of them were trying to make sense of what was happening. This was the first time they had faced the horror of a combined move like this.

"NOW!! USE ’AIR SLASH’" shouted Kane from the top of his lungs, then bent down to protect himself.

What would happen when 4000 flying-type Pokemon use air blades to attack in the air?

Pandemonium.

That would be the only result.

Uncountable blades of semi-formless air rushed towards the opposing side. There were numerous explosions. This combined move was very destructive.

The move lasted 30 seconds, and after that, it took a couple of minutes to clear the area with the help of ’Hurricane’ from the ally Pokemon.

"Light, how many remaining?", asked Axel.

Alakazam’s eyes turned purple, and after a few seconds, it said, "6734 remaining. One of the tier 1 king rank Pokemon also died."

More than 50% of the flying-type Pokemon were dealt with. That was quite a number. A lot of pressure decreased because of the combination of strategies Axel and his team used.

Some of them were so angry to see their loved one die that they started relentlessly attacking the ally Pokemon. Since they were blindly attacking, it did not yield much result, as the ally Pokemon were defending in formation.

But there were some that were retreating from the fight, looking at the sheer power of the ally Pokemon.

Since the ally Pokemon had used a massive attack, it was time to defend and conserve their energy for the future fight.

At this time, the Thunder team used moves like ’Electro Web’ or ’Charge Beam’ to help the flying-type Pokemon.

###

Axel had planned to use Charizard to deal with 2 tier 2 king rank Pokemon. It was already at pseudo-champion rank, and its speed and attack stats were very high. Axel commonly used Charizard to finish the battle as soon as possible.

One of the flying-type Pokemon was Butterfree. This was one of the reasons why Axel was so confident because Butterfree was weak to fire-type moves.

Another tier 2 king rank Pokemon was Fearow. Both of them were at tier 2 king rank.

The hurricane and those ’Air slash’ also affected them, so they were also injured in the fight, but both Pokemon were beyond angry after seeing the state of their team.

So, they were ready to give up their life just to deal as much damage as possible.

"Get ready, Charles! Show me what you can do! " shouted Axel excitedly.
