Pokemon: Reborn Rich Alternate Earth
Chapter 720: Mew
This unfamiliar little Pokémon had completely crossed Celebi’s bottom line—daring to steal its fried chicken leg! Normally, the only one who could get away with something like this was Julian.
Because Celebi never held it against Julian—after all, the money for those chicken legs came from Julian’s pocket.
Celebi was very clear about that.
Julian was its "adoptive father". But this random pink Pokémon? Absolutely not.
"Gah—you even TOOK A BITE?!"
Celebi was now even more furious.
"Mew~"
The unfamiliar Pokémon took a bite of the fried chicken and its eyes lit up—'so delicious!' In a few quick bites, it devoured the whole thing.
It didn’t eat the bone—just tossed it away casually. Whether it was on purpose or not, the bone landed right on Celebi’s face.
Talk about adding insult to injury.
Watching its beloved chicken leg get eaten and then getting smacked in the face with the leftover bones?
Celebi's mental state completely collapsed.
"RAAAAHHH—!"
"I’M GONNA KILL YOU!!"
Blinded by rage, Celebi completely forgot they were still inside the ancient giant tree. All it wanted was to blast this pink bastard into oblivion with an Energy Ball.
Seeing this, the pink Pokémon immediately flew out of the tree hollow.
Celebi: "You damn thief! Don’t you dare run!"
It canceled the Energy Ball and took off after the thief. But it quickly realized—it couldn’t catch up.
Meanwhile, the pink troublemaker suddenly stopped mid-air, stuck out its tongue, and tauntingly waved the Dowsing Machine.
New and old grudges combined, Celebi roared and chased after it again.
"DIIIIE!!!"
The pink Pokémon just giggled and resumed fleeing.
And so, beneath the ancient giant tree, a ridiculous game of chase unfolded between two small Pokémon.
Only… the one chasing had its eyes red with rage, while the one being chased looked relaxed and carefree.
---
Meanwhile, lying back in his chair, Julian was no longer feeling as relaxed as before.
Celebi had been gone for over an hour.
Even if it crawled, it should’ve reached the treasure and come back by now. But the little guy still hadn’t returned.
'Did something happen?'
If Celebi got into trouble, that was one thing—but if the Dowsing Machine was lost, that would be a real disaster. The thing was irreplaceable.
Julian was starting to get a little anxious.
He even regretted giving the Dowsing Machine to Celebi in the first place. That guy couldn’t even be relied on to play Pokémon Glory properly, and he’d trusted it to go treasure hunting? Was he out of his mind?
"Julian—STOP IT!!!"
Just as Julian was wallowing in regret, Celebi’s frantic voice suddenly rang in his ears.
He looked up—
And saw a small, cat-like Pokémon, light pink all over, about 40 cm tall, with a tail nearly twice its body length.
The pink Pokémon was curiously looking at him.
Julian instinctively took a step back.
Metagross was about to attack, but Julian quickly stopped it.
Staring in shock at the little Pokémon before him, Julian took a long moment before slowly speaking:
"…Mew"
"Mew?"
Mew tilted its head, looking at Julian with confusion. It found it strange that this human recognized it—and even stranger, it could sense a faint presence on him that felt similar to its own aura.
No… to be precise, it wasn’t its own aura, but something very much like it.
While Julian was still stunned by Mew’s appearance, his eyes suddenly locked onto the Dowsing Machine in Mew’s tiny hands. His pupils dilated instantly.
"CELEBI!"
He growled under his breath.
He had warned Celebi enough times to not lose the Dowsing Machine, and it still lost it?!
Celebi, seeing that Mew was standing right in front of Julian and that Julian had noticed the Dowsing Machine, immediately flew up to hide on top of one of the three Regi’s heads, not daring to come closer.
"Get over here—I promise I won’t kill you."
Celebi shook its head frantically.
Taking a deep breath, Julian shifted his focus back to Mew. No matter what, he had never expected to run into Mew here.
This Pokémon was said to be the ancestor of all Pokémon, capable of using every known move, and containing the genetic information of every species in its DNA.
Though it hadn’t been officially discovered yet, scholars had found murals depicting it on ancient stone walls.
They just hadn’t realize that the Pokémon… was Mew.
"Mew?"
Mew: "Why do you have traces of my aura on you? …But it’s not exactly mine either."
Mew blinked and looked at Julian in confusion.
"Aura?"
Julian was baffled.
'How the hell do I have your aura?'
Metagross shot Julian a look, as if saying: 'We already have so many siblings at home, and you're still out here sneaking around?'
Julian: "I DIDN’T."
Then it hit him.
'Mewtwo?'
Back in Haitian City, he had summoned Mewtwo to stop Kyogre.
Mewtwo was an artificially created Pokémon, engineered using Mew’s DNA as a base, combined with genes from other Pokémon.
So naturally, Mewtwo carried traces of Mew’s aura, though not exactly the same.
And since Julian had summoned Mewtwo, it was inevitable that traces of its aura lingered on him—and this kind of trace could only be detected by Pokémon of the same tier.
Although Mew’s base stats were only 600, its true strength placed it squarely among the First-class Legendaries, and its identity was anything but ordinary.

'What the hell is this 'World Tree' thing?'
After reading Mew’s information, Julian wasn’t surprised—it really was a First-class Legendary.
But both the "Held Item" and "Notes" sections mentioned the World Tree.
What exactly was the World Tree? Julian genuinely had no idea.
He wondered if this thing was sold in the system shop—it sounded like something incredibly powerful.
After searching for it, he actually found it:
[World Tree: "The origin place of fossil Pokémon, exists in a symbiotic relationship with Mew.]
The description was extremely brief and didn’t explain what it actually did. But what caught Julian’s eye was the price tag:
One World Tree Sapling was the equivalent of a hundred Mewtwo Fragments.
'Yeah, forget it.' That was way out of his league. It was better to focus on thinking about how to get Mewtwo instead.
'Wait… Mewtwo’s still insanely far off too. Better focus on how to get the Dowsing Machine back first.'
His thoughts shifted back to the current situation. Julian forced the friendliest smile he could manage and said:
"Mew, that thing is mine… can you give it back to me?"
He pointed at the Dowsing Machine.
Mew hugged the device even tighter and shook its head.
Celebi, still hiding near the Regis, shouted:
"IT’S A THIEF! A DIRTY, NO-GOOD THIEF!"
"Then what would it take for you to give it back?" Julian asked carefully.
He had never felt so helpless in his life before—but what could he do? This was Mew, after all—a First-class Legendary.
Up until now, his greatest trump card had been the ability to summon Mewtwo, but even if he summoned it now, he wasn’t confident it could beat Mew.
And Mew had three bodyguards tagging along.
Ever since Mew appeared, those three Regis had been behaving like loyal little followers, looking at Mew with utmost reverence.
(T/N: I don't know who needs to hear this but I know Mew's a Mythical and that First-class thing is just a tier. I'm not actually calling it a Legendary Pokémon.)
