The dark sky above was illuminated by brilliant golden electrical energy.
Chris felt as though he had entered some kind of secret underground facility.
No sun was visible—only the artificial illumination provided by electrical sources.
Looking into the distance, Chris quickly spotted a towering structure with an enormous light bulb at its peak, emitting golden radiance that illuminated this entire world.
Surveying the surrounding area, Chris noticed that beneath his feet lay black, barren soil. Any flowers, plants, and trees that might have once existed here had withered away long ago.
Mega Gardevoir materialized beside Chris to maintain constant vigilance, slowly expanding its psychic awareness throughout the area.
Chris extended his hand, and Gengar immediately emerged from the shadow beneath his feet, opening its dimensional mouth.
The "Spatial Locator" was retrieved from Gengar's storage space.
Currently, the spatial locator showed no response, suggesting that the battle between Professor Vladimir and Landorus was still ongoing.
Once Professor Vladimir was safe, he would use the locator to establish contact.
"I wonder who will emerge victorious from the battle between Professor Vladimir and Landorus," Chris murmured thoughtfully.
Could Dynamax Machamp enhanced with Aura power and the self-created "Hyper Dimensional Assault" technique compete against Landorus's exclusive "Scorching Sandstorm" move?
If it weren't for the urgent need to rescue Professor Theodore, Chris would have genuinely wanted to witness the battle's conclusion.
Collecting his thoughts, Chris reminded himself that Professor Vladimir was fighting outside, so he needed to focus on completing his mission quickly.
"Gardevoir, use your psychic abilities to search the surrounding area for any traces of Theodore," Chris commanded, remaining in position while waiting.
Before arriving, Chris had studied various scholarly research materials about worlds existing within spatial rifts.
Scholars generally theorized that these dimensional worlds were originally parts of Earth that had been separated due to special circumstances—such as powerful Pokémon battles tearing through space and sending portions of land into rifts, creating the worlds that existed after spatial fractures.
Typically, worlds existing within spatial cracks were small and barren.
Without sunlight penetrating the spatial rift, these worlds lacked their primary energy source. Even if abundant resources existed when first entering the rift, they would gradually be exhausted over time.
Eventually, these places became lifeless wastelands, at most containing Ghost-type Pokémon formed from the lingering souls of countless deceased Pokémon who refused to move on.
However, exceptions did exist.
A powerful trainer had once discovered a unique world within a spatial crack.
That world was the size of a small town, lacking any sunlight source. Remarkably, the humans, Pokémon, and all creatures within it showed no signs of aging, illness, or death—as if time itself had been frozen in place.
Scholars speculated that this world's extraordinary properties might be related to the circumstances of its transportation into the rift.
For example, it might have resulted from two Pokémon with temporal powers affecting the town during their battle.
However, this remained pure speculation—no one knew the true reason, not even the inhabitants of that city.
Later, when the people from that city left the spatial rift, their life processes resumed normal flow. Interestingly, people who entered the spatial crack afterward did not experience the same time-suspension effects.
This example reminded Chris of an animated movie he had seen in his previous life.
He recalled the title: "The Rise of Darkrai: Dialga vs. Palkia."
The battle between Dialga, the deity of time, and Palkia, the deity of space, had caused "Alamos Town" to be enveloped by temporal and spatial forces, nearly dragging it into a dimensional rift.
If Alamos Town hadn't had a protagonist like Ash and a Darkrai capable of confronting the two legendary deities, it probably would have become the special case that Chris had read about in the research materials.
"I wonder if this current world represents another special case?" Chris observed the illuminated tower thoughtfully.
Light required energy, and the tower was continuously emitting light, constantly consuming power.
Either this world had only recently fallen into the spatial crack and the tower's energy hadn't been depleted yet, or this place was similar to the example Chris had studied—another special location with unique properties.
"I wonder how Professor Theodore is surviving in this environment..."
Within minutes, Gardevoir completed its exploration and used psychic power to construct a blue, three-dimensional model in front of Chris.
"It's quite extensive..." Chris examined the psychic projection before him.
The mental power possessed by Mega Gardevoir after Mega Evolution could cover a radius of 10,000 meters.
The display before Chris measured only two meters by two meters, but it encompassed everything within that 10,000-meter radius. Every plant and structure could be enlarged or reduced according to Chris's mental commands for detailed examination.
This world was larger than Chris had initially estimated. With a 10,000-meter radius, Gardevoir hadn't detected the boundaries in one direction, nor had it reached the towering electrical generator that Chris could see in the distance.
As expected, this was indeed a barren location with no life detected—no Pokémon, and surprisingly, no Ghost-type Pokémon either.
"BEEP~~" The spatial locator chimed.
Chris quickly answered the communication.
"Chris, please respond," Professor Vladimir's voice came through the spatial positioning device.
"Understood, Professor. I've successfully entered the world behind the spatial rift," Chris replied promptly, then asked with concern, "Professor, are you alright? How did the battle go?"
"I'm perfectly fine. What could happen to me? Just a few minutes into the fight with Landorus, it was blown away by Regigigas, the Colossal Pokémon," Professor Vladimir responded with slight disappointment, as if he hadn't had the chance to fully enjoy the battle.
Chris sighed with relief, though he felt somewhat sympathetic toward Landorus.
This marked the third time it had been forcibly ejected by Regigigas.
However, this also confirmed something important—Regigigas appeared to serve as the guardian of the Malaya Forest, immediately suppressing any Pokémon like Landorus that could cause significant destruction.
"So... Professor, what should I do next?"
"I'll be returning to Dragon University now. The spatial channel device requires adjustment and preparation, which will take approximately twelve hours. I'll contact you through the spatial locator as soon as everything is ready," Professor Vladimir explained.
"Your task is to locate Theodore within that timeframe."
