Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten
Chapter 328: Kindergarten Encounter
The campus delivery point was always crowded, though it was a bit quieter in the morning with fewer students.
Lin Zhengran passed through alone and arrived at the spot where Jiang Jingshi had dropped her ring the day before.
Taking advantage of the empty surroundings, he squatted down and stared into the dark, filthy storm drain.
The ring was nowhere to be seen.
But he reached out his hand and gathered spiritual energy.
His Spirit Control ability was incredibly handy, though honestly, spending so much time with the little girls, he rarely got to use it.
For instance, if he just glanced toward the water cooler, a certain Little Fox would eagerly chirp, “Brother Zhengran, are you thirsty? I’ll go get it for you!”
Or when they were out, Little He Qing would always have half a bottle of water in her bag, and if he so much as said he wanted to buy water, she’d hand it right over.
As a result, outside of the early days when he first acquired the ability, Lin Zhengran barely had a chance to use Spirit Control anymore.
Now, standing over the muddy drain, Lin Zhengran focused on the traits of a diamond.
The diamond ring buried in the grime seemed to respond to an invisible force.
With a whoosh, it tore through the mud and flew into his palm.
He caught it.
There were two rings.
Looking at the rings in his palm, Lin Zhengran raised a brow. A surprise bonus?
One was the delicate ring Jiang Jingshi wore all the time. The other was smaller, but clearly not cheap either. In fact, it looked like a wedding ring.
He found a nearby restroom and rinsed both under the faucet.
They regained their brilliant sparkle.
Lin Zhengran kept Jiang Jingshi’s and took the unfamiliar one to the Lost and Found.
“Teacher, this looks like a diamond ring? I’m not sure which teacher dropped it, but I just picked it up near the storm drain.”
The Lost and Found teacher looked surprised—and actually recognized it:
“Isn’t this the wedding ring that one of the teachers lost last week?! She’s been looking for it forever! Thank you so much, student! Leave a phone number—she’ll definitely want to thank you.”
Lin Zhengran replied, “No need for thanks. As long as it gets returned, that’s good enough. I’ll be going now.”
Then he turned and walked away.
The teacher at the desk watched him go in amazement. “What a good student.”
Out on the road again, Lin Zhengran turned his gaze to the ring he still held—Jiang Jingshi’s.
He examined it closely and unexpectedly found a small inscription inside.
"Love at first sight."
Even though he’d often seen Jiang Jingshi wear this ring, he’d never noticed these four tiny characters inside it.
Love at first sight—did that mean Jingshi fell for me the moment she laid eyes on me?
He thought back to their first meeting at the high school gates—over instant noodles, no less—and something didn’t add up. Back then, Jingshi clearly had her guard up. At most, she’d been curious. The way she looked at him then was nothing like now.
And then… he recalled what they’d talked about in her bedroom after they’d gotten intimate last night.
She often mentioned how he used to treat her harshly—but he honestly had no memory of that.
As he continued walking, a question lingered in his mind—could high school not have been the first time he’d met Jingshi?
Logically, with his system-enhanced memory, there was no way he’d forget something like that.
Then suddenly, a strange memory flashed through his mind.
A cute little girl—her face resembling Jiang Jingshi’s just slightly, but with a completely different personality—looked at him in confusion and asked, “Is this really the way?”
Her personality felt a lot like Little He Qing.
And in that memory, his younger self had replied, sounding gruff, “Stop asking so much. Just follow me! If you stick with me, you’ll get out. You’re a tiny girl and still dared to run around alone in a strange place? You’ve got guts.”
“You’re so mean,” she mumbled.
“Me? Mean?!” he snapped back.
The little girl shrank back, thinking, he’s mean everywhere, but still followed obediently since she’d gotten lost in the neighborhood.
Lin Zhengran suddenly froze in place. When did that happen? Could that little girl have been Jingshi?
He had completely forgotten...
Staring at the ring again, he blinked—then suddenly had an idea.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Pan Lin.
She answered politely, “Hello, President Lin? What made you call me?”
“I’ve got a question. The ring Jingshi always wears—was it custom-made?”
“It was. Made years ago by a very skilled old artisan.”
Lin Zhengran nodded slowly.
“Got it. I’ll need you to order some raw materials for diamond rings today and mail them to me. Get plenty. Also—another question. Jingshi… she met me before high school, didn’t she?”
On the other end, Pan Lin paused. Her tone turned uncertain—because Jiang Jingshi had once warned her not to say too much:
“Uh… President Lin, what do you mean? I didn’t quite catch that…”
“Don’t play dumb. I just remembered something today. I must’ve met Jingshi years ago, right? And as her personal assistant, there’s no way you didn’t know.”
“Heh heh…” Pan Lin gave a helpless chuckle. “You finally remembered. President Jiang’s actually been waiting for this. Yeah… she met you a long time ago. Back in kindergarten.”
After a quick back-and-forth, Lin Zhengran finally had the memory cleared up.
With his insane memory, he remembered all sorts of details from meals to faces. But he hadn’t paid attention to every minor thing since childhood.
Still, if he tried, he could remember.
When the call ended, Pan Lin added with genuine warmth: “Has President Jiang been happy at school these days? Do you two get to see each other every day?”
“Yeah, every day.”
Pan Lin smiled on the phone—like a shipper who’d finally seen her favorite couple come true. “That’s wonderful.”
Hanging up, Lin Zhengran tucked the ring into his pocket.

Later That Morning
During class, Lin Zhengran waited for Pan Lin’s package and endured the jealous stares of the Three Little Ones.
Han Wenwen lay on her desk, her fox-like eyes glinting. “So you didn’t come back for dinner, huh? And I heard you didn’t even come back to the dorm last night, Brother Zhengran~”
He Qing blinked her pure almond eyes. “You stayed overnight at the counselor’s place, didn’t you, Lin Zhengran?”
Jiang Xueli turned her head with a cold snort. “Flirty Zhengran!”
Lin Zhengran stared helplessly at the blackboard in front of him.
Even though they were all openly dating him and knew about each other, jealousy was something that just couldn’t be avoided.
He instinctively lifted his hand and knock knock knock—gave each girl a light tap on the head.
Only then did the three settle down a bit.
Outside in the hallway, Jiang Jingshi saw this scene through the window and stifled a laugh.
But… she was jealous too.
Zhengzheng was really good to those three.
Standing at the podium, Lin Zhengran said, “I’ve got news for you three. In a few days, Jingshi will be moving in with us.”
The three clutched their heads, faces flushed red.
In unison: “Huh?!”
Each of them wore a different expression, but it wasn’t hard to guess what was going through their minds.
