Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten
Chapter 341: Wedding Rings
The driver stepped out of the car and respectfully handed over a delicately packed box of ring-making materials to Lin Zhengran, who had come out of the villa.
“President Lin, Pan Jie asked me to deliver this to you.”
Lin Zhengran accepted the box and said, “Thanks for the trouble.” But then, he realized the man looked familiar.
The driver smiled with visible excitement. “No trouble at all!”
“You’re Jiang Ming, right? Weren’t you a security guard at headquarters before? How’d you end up as a driver?” Lin Zhengran recalled the young man who had only recently joined.
The man, Jiang Ming, was clearly surprised and delighted that such a wealthy boss still remembered him.
“I didn’t expect President Lin to remember me! Yeah, I started out as a security guard, but after a while, I figured driving might be better. The pay’s higher too. I just started dating someone, and expenses went up, so I applied to switch departments.”
“Got it. So it’s because you started dating. Congrats.”
“Thank you, President Lin.” He scratched his head shyly, looking quite green.
“You can head back. I’ve received the package.”
Jiang Ming nodded earnestly. “Alright, President Lin. I’ll be going then. Goodbye.”
Watching Jiang Ming drive away, Lin Zhengran opened the box in his hands.
Inside were several neatly arranged compartments, each housing a separate diamond or ring component.
Every material was top-grade.
Back inside the villa’s living room, he began placing the items one by one on the table.
He picked up a diamond and a ring base, and as he summoned spiritual energy, invisible currents began to gather in his hand.
Even though making pills didn’t take much time before, it still required at least a few minutes.
Now that Heaven-Earth Resonance had reached Level 2, the speed of energy condensation was significantly faster.
In almost an instant, the diamond and ring base fused seamlessly into a finished ring. The diamond sparkled brilliantly in the sunlight.
On the back of the ring, spiritual energy engraved the first initial of He Qing’s name.
“This is really fast… and it turned out beautiful. But… let’s add something else.”
He condensed a bit of special spiritual energy into the ring. This energy was unique—if the wearer ever faced danger, Lin Zhengran, as the infuser, would sense it immediately.
Although this world wasn’t particularly dangerous, having a safeguard like this certainly wouldn’t hurt.
After completing one ring, Lin Zhengran continued to use the remaining materials to craft three more—four in total.
But with the materials now requiring only half the usual amount due to the upgrade, he ended up with quite a bit leftover.
He figured he might as well finish what he started—so he made six rings in total. After all, he’d told He Qian and the others that the maximum would be six girlfriends.
Once all six rings were finished, he placed them into individual ring boxes.
Then he set off for campus.
On a university campus, there were always groups of students chatting and laughing as they passed.
Lin Zhengran headed in the direction of Jiang Jingshi’s office.
But from a distance, he spotted her talking with another female teacher at a corner.
Wearing heels and a calf-length skirt, Jiang Jingshi stood straight and elegant. As she spoke, she occasionally pushed up her glasses—apparently a long-time habit.
After chatting briefly, the other teacher left. Jiang Jingshi sat down on a nearby bench, pulled out her phone, and started scrolling through it.
Her face carried a small, amused smile.
Lin Zhengran walked up slowly. “Class Advisor.”
Hearing his voice, Jiang Jingshi visibly startled. She quickly hid her phone and blushed. “Zhengzheng! What are you doing here? Didn’t you say you weren’t coming to class this morning?”
Standing in front of her, he said, “I said I had things to do. I’m done now, so I came back.”
“Emm…” she teased, “Then, may I ask what important business Lin Zhengran was attending to this morning?”
“Of course. But before I answer, I’m curious—what was our dear class advisor smiling at just now? You even hid your phone when I came over.”
The phone now lay screen-down on her thigh. With his comment, she felt completely embarrassed.
She didn’t dare meet his eyes. “That… just some old photos.”
“Old photos?”
“If you want to see, I guess I can show you… Since I can’t really refuse anything Lin Zhengran asks…”
Lin Zhengran sat down beside her on the bench and accepted her phone.
The screen displayed none other than a photo of Lin Zhengran from kindergarten.
In the picture, little Zhengran had a blank expression, sitting in a pile of sand flashing a peace sign—looking as if dealing with parents had drained all his energy.
He suddenly recalled the day—his mom had taken the photo at the park. He hadn’t wanted to pose, but she insisted, so he reluctantly did the peace sign.
“How do you even have this?” He asked, puzzled. “Only my mom should have that one. Even He Qing doesn’t have it.”
Jiang Jingshi placed both hands on her lap and responded softly, a bit shy: “Your auntie—your mom—sent it to me a while ago.”
Lin Zhengran turned his head to look at her.
Jingshi got even more flustered. “We’ve been chatting a lot lately, so sometimes she sends me photos. Maybe forty or fifty in total? I thought they were cute, so I saved them… and I look at them from time to time.”
When she had first seen the photo, she had frozen. The little boy looked exactly like the Zhengran in her memory—a fierce little guy.
Lin Zhengran returned her phone. “Got it. So, the class advisor looks at my baby pics and giggles to herself?”
Her cheeks turned red as she puffed up in protest. “What, I can’t smile at your pictures? I can’t very well look at them all sad and gloomy! You’re such a bully.”
He laughed and pulled out a small box from his pocket, handing it to her. “Didn’t you just ask what I was doing this morning? Here.”
“What is it?” She looked at the box and found it oddly familiar. But her brain refused to believe what her body already suspected.
She nervously asked, “Zhengzheng… what’s in this box?”
Lin Zhengran said, “Why don’t you open it and find out?”
With trembling hands, Jiang Jingshi cautiously took the box. It did look like the kind used for jewelry. Her heart pounded wildly.
Slowly, she opened it.
Inside were two sparkling diamond rings.
Her pupils shook. She instinctively covered her mouth, her face burning. “These are… wedding rings?”
Lin Zhengran blinked. “Not wedding rings.”
“Huh?”
He pointed at one of the rings. “One of these is the ring you dropped down the drain. I found it and brought it back to you. The other one, I made myself.”
She picked up the familiar ring and realized—it really was the one she had lost before.
At first, she had thought they were wedding rings. She nearly had a heart attack.
She’d almost believed Zhengzheng didn’t like formal proposals and had just pulled out the wedding bands directly.
“Wait, you said you made the other one yourself?!”
