Lin Zhengran nodded without denying it.

This made the eldest Miss of the Jiang family panic a little. “Why... why would Zhengzheng want to make a ring for me?”

Lin Zhengran reached out and picked up the ring he had made. “The day before yesterday, when I found the ring Jingzhi lost in the sewer, I accidentally saw the four characters you had someone engrave on the back.”

Jiang Jingzhi pressed her lips together. The four characters were love at first sight.

“And then?” she asked.

Lin Zhengran said, “Then I remembered that a long time ago, I asked you why you wore that ring. You said it was to celebrate meeting me. Didn’t you say that?”

“Mm... yes.” She admitted it shyly.

“But according to my memory, the first time we met was at the gate of the high school. That time, you came to see me on Qianqian’s behalf. We barely interacted, and the way you looked at me back then was totally different from now. If you say you fell in love at first sight back then...”

He gave her a meaningful look. “I don’t think that’s very realistic. You’re not the type to instantly like a guy just from one meeting. You’ve always been cautious. So I thought back and realized that when I was little, I seemed to have met a little girl who looked kind of like you.”

Jiang Jingzhi’s pupils widened.

Lin Zhengran didn’t continue, instead he asked, “That was you, right? You got lost in the neighborhood, and I happened to see you and led you out.”

Jiang Jingzhi was stunned, gazing blankly at Lin Zhengran.

The redness in her face faded a bit, but there was even more excitement now. She shyly covered her mouth with the back of her hand.

She mumbled like a mosquito, “Yeah... it was me.”

He finally remembered.

“No wonder that night at your rental place, when you said I was fierce, I had no idea what you were talking about. And when I asked you, you answered like that.”

Jiang Jingzhi bit her lip. “You really are a bit different now than you were as a kid. Not as fierce all the time.” She recalled the moment he checked her foot and muttered, “But sometimes, you’re still pretty fierce.”

Then she turned to Lin Zhengran and, for some reason, pouted in annoyance:

“Took you long enough to remember, Zhengzheng! The first time I saw you, I thought you looked familiar and immediately had someone look into whether it was you. But you only just now remembered... guess you really didn’t have any impression of me back then.”

She was curious. “Was I really that un-cute as a kid? Nothing about me stood out to you?”

Lin Zhengran paused, then smiled and answered honestly, “Well, kids are usually pretty troublesome. I wasn’t interested in little girls back then, so I didn’t really care.”

Jiang Jingzhi was speechless.

Lin Zhengran said, “So to make up for forgetting that, I wanted to make a ring myself and give it to you as a gift.”

Jiang Jingzhi looked down again at the sparkling diamond ring in the box, her ears turning red.

“So that’s why. I thought... but since we’re just boyfriend and girlfriend, even if it’s to make up for something, a ring still seems like too much... It has other meanings.”

“Of course I know.”

She looked at Lin Zhengran in surprise.

Lin Zhengran took the diamond ring out from the box, his eyes locked on Jiang Jingzhi, and said without hesitation, “Jingzhi, marry me after we graduate. I’ll go to see Uncle and Auntie to propose before graduation.”

Jiang Jingzhi covered her mouth with both hands. She never could’ve imagined any of this.

Who would’ve thought that on such an ordinary day, Zhengzheng would propose to her?

There wasn’t even a hint of warning...

But...

After locking eyes with him for a long while, she slowly reached out her delicate hand. “Put it on for me... big sis says yes.”

Lin Zhengran carefully slid the ring onto her ring finger.

She stared at the diamond on her ring finger, not even caring they were still at school, and directly hugged Lin Zhengran.

So gently. “Zhengzheng~”

But before they even hugged for three seconds, a few students passed by in the distance, startling the two of them into quickly separating.

One of the students even recognized Jiang Jingzhi. “Hello, Miss Jiang!”

A beautiful teacher like her was definitely well-known on campus.

Jiang Jingzhi straightened her posture, her face slightly red as she greeted them. “Hello.”

One of the girls casually said, “Miss Jiang, your face is really red.”

Normally, Jiang Jingzhi never showed her emotions this obviously at school. But today was just... such a surprising proposal.

She wanted to go back to her usual calm self but just couldn’t.

“Caught a little cold.” She had to adjust her glasses to cover up the awkwardness.

Thankfully, the girls didn’t think too much of it. Instead, they were quickly drawn to the striking presence of Lin Zhengran next to her.

The cool and composed Lin Zhengran made one of the girls blush, nervously leaving behind, “Lin Zhengran is here too. Well, we’ll get going, Miss Jiang.”

Then the girls shyly walked off together.

Lin Zhengran let out a long breath with a smile.

He turned and met Jiang Jingzhi’s gentle gaze.

Their hands slowly clasped together as they shared a smile.

At noon, with the sun shining brightly, Jiang Qian strolled under the willow trees on campus, holding a stack of papers for some unknown purpose.

And once again, she happened to run into her sister looking mysteriously happy.

This was already the second time.

Jiang Qian got annoyed the moment she heard those high heels. She coldly turned her face, trying to brush past her sister like a stranger.

Plus, Jiang Jingzhi looked even happier than last time—truly elated.

Jiang Qian could clearly see her sister was acting strange.

Her sister cheerfully called out, “Jiang Qian, what have you been up to?”

Jiang Qian gritted her teeth and didn’t want to talk.

But her sister actually grabbed her on purpose. “Why aren’t you talking to your teacher? Ignoring your elders like this is a bit ungracious, wouldn’t you say, Miss Jiang Qian?”

Miss Jiang Qian? Jiang Qian was speechless but had no choice but to stop, biting her silver teeth. “What’s it to you? I’m just doing my usual stuff—why do you care?”

Jiang Jingzhi looked overjoyed.

Nothing seemed capable of ruining her mood right now. She gently said, “Why are you being so mean to your teacher, Miss Jiang Qian? I’m just checking on a student in my class, that’s all.”

Second Miss clenched her fists. “What the h*ll do you want?”

Jiang Jingzhi stepped up to look at her sister closely. “Nothing much. I just saw a little leaf stuck in your hair.”

She deliberately used the hand with the ring to pluck the leaf from Jiang Qian’s hair.

“You look really pretty today, Miss Jiang Qian.” She even helped tidy her sister’s hair, as if afraid she wouldn’t notice the ring.

Jiang Qian looked like she’d seen a ghost. “Are you insane? Don’t touch me, okay?” But as she finished, she did spot the new ring on her sister’s hand.

“Who’s insane?”

She snapped back, “You.”

“And who am I? Use my title when we’re at work.”

Jiang Qian: “...Your condition’s getting worse. I’m leaving.”

She tried to walk away again.

But Jiang Jingzhi caught her again, shaking her hand with the ring. “Miss Jiang Qian, didn’t you see it? Your brother-in-law gave this to me.”

Jiang Qian’s fist clenched with a cracking sound. She turned back a little, clearly jealous. “I saw it. So what? It’s just a ring—what’s the big deal?”

Jiang Jingzhi clearly hinted, “Ring finger.”

“What ring finger? Middle finger, ring finger—what’s the difference? You can wear it wherever you want. Doesn’t matter to me. He’ll give me one in the future too.” She gave a cold snort and walked off quickly.

Despite her wealth of knowledge, Jiang Qian really had no clue about the meaning behind which finger a girl wore a ring on. She’d never cared about that kind of thing before.

So the jealousy on her face was just about her sister getting a gift.

Only after she left did Jiang Jingzhi realize:

“No way... Qianqian really knows that little about couple stuff? Doesn’t know what it means when a guy gives a girl a ring? Doesn’t even know what it means to wear a ring on the ring finger? How did she grow up like this—like a cavewoman!”
