CHAPTER 45: REGISTRATION (3)

’That child, if I’m correct....he’s Caden Ryder, what is he thinking about?’ Darius observed Caden’s expression.

He knew something sinister had filled Caden’s thoughts at the moment, but not that it matters to him.

His attention returned back to the crowd "Now that the introduction and orientation phase is over"

"The registration test will begin....."

"I know most of you came through completing your written examinations and physical tests"

"But this registration test will determine your future in this royal academy, I wish you luck"

Darius spoke, he slowly turned his back on the crowd, the door-shaped portal was activated once again.

Everyone watched as Darius exited the scene through the portal, his two trusted aides followed from behind.

**

The moment Darius was finally gone from the registration hall. Everyone breathed out a large sigh of relief.

They were overwhelmed with excitement, even though the masked guards were frightening.

They could not be compared to a Sword Level, Sword Great Grandmaster.

Seeing the relaxed faces of the freshmen. A masked guard stepped forward, holding a black remote.

"I will not be too happy if I were you" the masked guard spoke. This time, he had everyone’s attention.

"We shall begin the registration test!"

The masked guard uttered, and he pressed his thumb, clicking a button on the black remote he held.

Caden’s overheard a familiar notification.

’Ding

[Reporting...]

[An Unknown S-Ranked Skill has been activated....]

"Huh? What....." Before Caden could complete his statement, he felt an unknown energy rushing into him.

His eyes blurred as he staggered backward. With his evolution as a Dragonman.

His senses were heightened, while other students were dropping like flies, completely unconscious.

Caden’s physique struggled, attempting to reject whatever was released against him, but it overwhelmed him.

Caden collapsed on his knees, and within a few minutes. He fell like the rest of the students.

Only the guardians remained standing. Whatever was unleashed had no effects on them.

One of the guardians worriedly was about to unsheath his blade when a masked guard appeared before him.

Stopping him from drawing out the blade. "There’s no cause for alarm, none of them are dead"

"This is a part of the registration test, a step to become a numbered student of the royal academy" The masked guard explained.

"If you draw out your blade then you’ll be considered an enemy. We kill our enemies on sight" the masked guard warned.

The guardian retracted his blade and the masked guard returned back to his position.

Alyssa stood still, her eyes glued to her master who had struggled for a few minutes before succumbing to whatever was unleashed.

She noticed the sounds of approaching footsteps, she raised her head to see a masked guard approaching her.

But she wasn’t like the other guardian who was rash to draw out his blade. Alyssa was unfazed.

She knew Caden was in no form of danger. Or else, Frey Blade would have made his move.

Caden had prepared a few arrangements before Frey Blade went to sleep in his shadow.

Unless he was summoned by his master, Frey Blade would not leave his master’s shadow.

The only time he was permitted to leave the shadow was if Caden’s on the verge of death.

That was when he will truly make his move.

Seeing that Frey Blade hasn’t made his move after Caden had collapsed, he knew Caden wasn’t in any form of danger.

The masked guard paused for a second when he glanced at Alyssa, before looking down.

He stared at Caden for a few seconds "What a strange kid, to think he resisted for that long" The masked guard muttered but Alyssa could hear him loud and clear.

After the masked guards had all confirmed all four thousand students had slumbered, it was time.

"Please can all guardians step aside" a masked guard instructed and the guardians obeyed.

They all move away from their successors, suddenly a crimson magic circle spread across the scene.

Covering every area where the successors laid. The magic circle shimmered for a few minutes.

And seconds later...all successors vanished into thin air.

"Transportation sequence completed" The masked guard spoke. His voice was loud enough for everyone to hear.

Just then a masked guard stepped forward, holding a book which had the names of all four thousand two hundred students recorded.

"We’ll begin the numbered test....."

****

"Argghhh" Caden jolted awake, his eyes blurred as he struggled to move his body. His moved his hands.

He could feel rocks, "Where am I?" Caden muttered.

Slowly getting up from the ground.

[B-Ranked Skill: Dragon’s Vision is active]

Caden quickly activated his B-Ranked Skill: Dragon’s Vision, he recovered his sight.

And he could see even more than the ordinary eyes.

His eyes scanned through the world he found himself in, "This is an island, we’re in an island" Caden spoke.

Thanks to his B-Ranked Skill: Dragon’s Vision, he could see the heat signatures of his fellow students.

Colored humans have different heat signatures colors compared to the variant humans.

Caden took a step forward "Just why did they send us here?" Caden was trying to get answers.

He moved through the island which was the size of a country. With lush green leaves and beautiful flowers scattered across the scene.

While moving through the terrains, he could see that he’s getting closer with the rest of the students.

Just then the ground shook vigorously and there was a quake which spread across the ground.

Caden’s eyebrows furrowed, he sniffed the air "This scent, variant humans!" His eyes flickered.

He raised his head to see hundreds of Red Hair Goblins and Two-Headed Trolls running towards him.

Caden gritted his teeths "Red Hair Goblins and Two-Headed Trolls? Are this people mad??"

"Why are they sending this higher-tier species against us?" Caden growled, he quickly positioned himself.

Ready to clash against the variant humans.

Seconds later, an announcement was made.

This time.....this announcement was transmitted into the mind of every single student on the island.

"Freshmen of the Valor Royal Academy, this is the first stage of your registration test"

"On this island.....there are three higher-tier Goblin species and four lower-tier species as well, the same goes with the Trolls"

"A total of ten thousand variant humans. They haven’t been fed for six months, this time.....they hunger for your flesh"

"You’re to spend two nights on this island, survive until forty-eight hours timer is up and you win"

"But if you’re on the verge of death.....support will be sent to you, and remember. Dying early means having the lowest ranked number"

"Your survival hours and the numbers of variant humans killed by you will determine your results"

"I wish you all good luck...."

"For you’ll truly need it if you must pass the three stages of the registration test"
