Alex''s status had be much more simplified.

    …Extremely so.

But he knew that there could only be one reason for this.

''I''m no longer connected to the System… I''m nowpletely outside of its influence and purview!''

Virtue''s Edge… No. System Breaker had worked.

    It had fulfilled its purpose.

The first very noticeable thing was that the ranks of all of his talents had changed.

...Alex''s jaw was practically on the w when he saw ''Universal God'' next to Soulforge.

But after what he had just experienced in the pocket dimension, his surprise and excitement died down quick.

Mikhail had told him that Soulforge had its potential sealed by the System, so it only made sense that it returned to its full potential when he utilised System Breaker to fulfill its lifelong purpose.

What did surprised him even more though was that Phoenix mes and even his spatial teleportation had received huge boosts to their ranks!

Alex hadn''t expected that even they were sealed and limited by the System, which made him think.

    Were all talents like this?

Did everyone with a talent have its potential sealed by the System, with them having to meet certain requirements just to unlock a singleyer of the seal, only letting it reach a single rank higher, or not even that?

Since it wasn''t just Soulforge that had experienced the increase, Alex assumed that was the case – which made him even more enraged with the System.

He could understand it wanting to seal his Soulforge, even though he didn''t agree with it or like it one bit, since it had the potential of making him reach Universal God and bing a threat to it, just like Mikhail and those few other gods who had been captured and enved did.

But for it to seal others, or even every talent that existed? That was just pure selfishness.

He couldn''t know the reasoning behind it, but he knew it most likely had something to do with the entire universe basically being a giant farm for harvesting energy for it.

Letting everyone have ess to the fully untapped potential of their innate talents must not be beneficial to the System in some way or another.

Alex took another nce at the status screen with his eyes tracing every word, every number, trying to find any hidden difference or any trick the System might have hidden to try and deceive him.

He wouldn''t put it past the System to try and deceive him by cing a simplified status of its own, to make him think that he had seeded with System breaker.

But he found nothing that could hint towards that.

And that''s when his gaze finally fell upon the final section of the status.

No the message left by Mikhail, nor the presence of any new additions etc.

It was more that there was apleteck of something there!

    ''Requirements… There''s no requirements…''

    That''s when it hit him.

    There were no more requirements.

    Not even one.

If what he thought was true, then the path ahead was wide open now…

"...Hah." He exhaled in disbelief. Then, a secondter, the corner of his mouth twitched up in a grin.

    "No way…"

He closed and opened his status up again, just to check if it was still the same.

''So this was the real benefit of creating and using System Breaker… Here I was, starting to wonder whether it was really worth it or not…''

It was only now that he realised Mikhail''s true goal for freeing Alex from the System.

    Total freedom.

    No restrictions.

When Alex first heard that he''d break free from the System''s chains, he didn''t even consider for a moment that it also meant being free from any stringent requirements ced between each rank!

That process had been so ingrained in his mind that it had practically be a universalw by now!

He''d never even thought that he could someday break free of these requirements, yet here he was!

''Does this mean I''ll be able to reach the ranks of the gods faster than anybody before me…?''

Alex would never even dare to think this was possible, but with this, things were different.

People spent years, decades, or even their whole life stuck at a single rank, trying their best to find a way to pass their requirements or just giving up entirely and retiring.

And that was just those below S tier.

Alex had no clue how impossibly hard the requirements were for those who were Ascendant and above.

They might be stuck at their ranks for thousands of years, pletely incapable of making any progress whatsoever.

If it weren''t for System Breaker, Alex would have met with a simr fate!

And as Alex had just started to process all of this astounding news, he was suddenly mortified by the sight that had started to unfold before his eyes.

It started with a soft shimmer.

A barely noticeable flicker across its edge, like a simple trick of the light reflecting off of it.

But then came the cracks – small hairline fractures, spiderwebbing from the hilt to the tip.

"No…" Alex whispered, voice low and mortified.

He whispered so quiet, as if speaking any louder might shatter the fragile thingpletely.

But there was nothing he could do.

The sword vibrated softly in his hand, as if it was giving its final farewell.

As if it had always known that this would be the price for fulfilling its purpose…

"Mikhail…" Alex breathed, his heart twisting in anguish.

"You said that this was your final gift…"

But then he nced back at his status, rereading that final, mocking line from the old smith.

[P.S. I lied, hehe, consider this my final gift. - A humble cksmith.]

    Alex knew then and there.

System Breaker was never the real gift.

    His freedom was.
