CHAPTER 120: MANIPULATIVE THOUGHTS... CONTINUE OPENING THE TREASURE BOXES
"Sister, you seem to know a lot about Kranos," Kevin said with a smile, walking to a table ahead and pouring himself and his sister a glass of wine.
"Yes, I know a lot about many things. Let’s not talk about how I know Kranos for now. I plan to make him my chess piece, and now would be the perfect time to begin sowing certain seeds," she informed her brother with a playful smile.
"Sowing seeds? How, sister?" Kevin asked, confused.
"First, ask all the elders of side professions to come. I want them to, at certain times, accidentally have a brush with Kranos. He should be interested in one or two of them, but I don’t know which. By letting him learn the side professions from my elders, he would slowly feel grateful to me. When I use the Heavenly Slave Enchantment on him, everything will work out fine."
Kathryn’s eyes flickered with cunning thoughts as she spoke. Hearing her scheme, Kevin was shocked; he even began to feel a faint pity for Kranos. However, since it was his sister doing it, he felt Kranos should be... honored to be her pawn!
"I will do that. What next, sis?" Kevin asked with a raised brow.
"Remember I told you to organize a rebellion previously amongst the elves of the Lower Realm?"
"Yes, sister, I have been able to gather a few thousand rebels."
Kathryn looked up at Kevin with praise; she didn’t think her brother would gather so many elves. "That is good. This has to do with the third stage of the plan. After the first two plans concerning Kranos are completed, they should rebel against... this royal palace!"
Kevin’s eyes widened in shock. "Rebel against this royal palace?" he asked to confirm what she had said. He knew that there were hidden experts in the royal palace; rebelling against this palace would be no different from courting death!
"Are you underestimating your sister? I already have everything planned out. For Kranos... it is all worth it," Kathryn said, and a faint smile once again played on her lips. After that, they discussed more concerning Kranos before Kevin suddenly asked Kathryn,
"Sister, about the treasure that could heal the soul, are you telling the truth?" He was also curious about this. He knew that since Kathryn wanted to make Kranos her chess piece, she wouldn’t give him much and would just treat him on friendly terms in the meantime.
"Yes," Kathryn replied with a nod, "that treasure is also a very great asset. It is actually a divine soul treasure, a fruit of the Divine Realm. Just like I informed Kranos, the battle for that treasure will be extremely fierce..."
Kevin was slightly startled and quickly asked, "Sister, you’re willing to give him such a precious treasure?"
"Yes, how else do you think I will make him my chess piece?" Kathryn said, then began explaining some secrets.
Meanwhile...
Kranos entered his room and settled, unaware of the deep scheme which Kathryn and Kevin were plotting. He glanced around the room he chose and noticed that it was very spacious.
It contained numerous wooden puppets, which Kranos guessed were training dummies. The room felt slightly warm and was filled with fresh air due to the flower pots which were placed slightly ahead.
Taking in the sight, Kranos sat on the bed then began studying the treasures he had gotten. He had decided that he would study the fate-defying treasure last after everything. He entered into the time-space and appeared in front of the familiar box. He stared at the boxes of treasures in front of him.
Stretching his hand, he selected a box and opened it. Inside was a scroll describing a unique world. Kranos was slightly impressed. The world was a blend of cultivation and technology.
Those in that world had been cursed by certain gods to be unable to cultivate mana. Because of that, instead of cultivating mana directly, they cultivated it into constructs like technology.
Kranos read more about the scroll before deciding to keep it aside. He opened the third box and saw another cultivation technique; it was a fire cultivation technique, and although it was powerful, it was unsuitable. Kranos opened the next box after tossing the cultivation technique to the side.
In this box, Kranos saw a single egg-sized... mana stone? Kranos was slightly stunned as he stared at the object in front of him. It looked like a mana stone but was different due to the fact that it was unique. It was extremely white and pure and had no cracks on its surface.
Kranos thought for a moment then decided to absorb mana from the stone to see if there was anything different. However, just as he did so, he was stunned. He realized that the mana in the stone was more than a hundred times purer than the mana in the surroundings.
The mana in the stone also seemed... infinite? Kranos was shocked by his thought. Although he wasn’t certain if the mana stone could be exhausted, he felt that even after cultivating to the God Realm, the color on the mana stone wouldn’t change at all.
After that, Kranos placed the mana stone aside and turned his attention to the next box; it was a mana stone as well. Kranos was overjoyed, then placed it by the side and moved to the next box.
This time, it was a weapon. Kranos stared at the halberd in front of him; he could sense the dreadful aura emanating from the halberd, which was even stronger than the Azure Sky Sword!
He slowly placed the halberd to the side and continued opening the treasure boxes...
Mana stones, martial arts techniques, maps that seemed confusing. Kranos saw a variety of things inside the treasure boxes. After everything was over, he had finally finished opening the boxes.
He glanced in the direction of the two treasure boxes farther ahead, the ones that had come with the system. He still didn’t know what was inside the third box... Sighing, Kranos withdrew his senses back to the real world, vanishing from the time-space.
After taking a deep breath, Kranos sank his divine sense into his mental space where he could sense a distinct aura. It was finally time to explore what exactly the heaven-defying treasure that could change one’s fate was.
Immediately his consciousness entered his mental space, Kranos was stunned by what he saw... the treasure was...
