Taishang spoke slowly, "Indeed it was them, but it was not a quarrel between them, rather it’s because of Buddhism."

Bai Jin, puzzled, said, "Master, what about Buddhism?"

"Do you know that a new Calamity is about to arrive?"

"Nuwa told me that Buddhism will prosper and instructed me not to challenge Buddhism in the future, to avoid being swept into the calamity."

Taishang chuckled and said, "Nuwa is truly good to you; while all Saints are still concealing the news of the impending Calamity, she has already subtly hinted it to you."

Bai Jin exclaimed in astonishment, "Master, is this Calamity related to Buddhism?"

He mused inwardly, wasn’t the great rise of Buddhism supposed to start from the Westward Journey? Westward Journey doesn’t seem to count as a Calamity at all. The Dragon Han Tribulation shattered the Western, the Witch Demon Tribulation broke the Heaven Pillar, and the Divine Enthronement Calamity shattered the Primordial Land. Compared to these three calamities, Westward Journey seemed like child’s play, without any gravity of a true Calamity at all! Therefore, Bai Jin had never taken the matter of Westward Journey seriously.

Taishang Saint slowly said, "This time the Calamity is named the Buddha Demon Tribulation, divided into two parts: one is the Buddha’s Ascension Tribulation, the other is the Demon Rising Tribulation."

Bai Jin, in his mind, thought unconsciously of Wutian. Could it be that the Westward Journey and its sequels together count as one Calamity? That seems more plausible; Wutian swept through all Gods of the Three Realms.

"Buddha’s Ascension Calamity, from our speculation, should signify the eastward advance of Buddha Sect, triggering conflicts between Buddhism and the Mysterious Sect, hence an Immortal and Buddha War engulfing the Three Realms."

Bai Jin then remarked, "Even if there is a war between Immortals and Buddhas, our Mysterious Sect need not fear Buddhism, right?"

Taishang expressed with a sense of resignation, "The grand trend of Heavenly Dao cannot be defied, the trend is in favor of Buddhism, the Mysterious Sect is destined to lose, and by then, numerous Immortal Gods will fall, and Mysterious Sect will wither."
