CHAPTER 351: CHAPTER 351: CONFIRMED PREGNANCY, A KISS TO SEAL THE AFFECTION (6)_1
However, seeing that Rachel Bailey had accepted him and given him a chance to pursue her, he generously decided not to hold a grudge against his sometimes truly sinister, scalp-tinglingly devious boss anymore.
Hansen Ruiz and Rachel Bailey both thanked the owner of the small shop—after all, with this outcome, the shop owner had played a part in helping them. The shop owner was a warm-hearted person, and to him, letting Rachel Bailey use the phone was a trivial matter, which he had forgotten as soon as he turned around. Now being profusely thanked by them both, he started feeling a bit embarrassed.
Later, when Hansen Ruiz insisted on paying for the phone call, the owner, unable to refuse, allowed Hansen Ruiz to pay fifty cents.
Fifty cents?
In Hansen Ruiz’s wallet, there were only large, colorful bills; he didn’t have fifty cents. Of green fifty-dollar bills, he possessed only one—the very note Rachel Bailey had tossed him for bus fare when they first met. He had kept it in his wallet ever since, never spending it.
After giving the shop owner a hundred-dollar bill, they took advantage of him making change to hold hands and run away, as if a tiger were chasing them.
Once back in the car, they looked at each other and laughed.
Finally, the Range Rover started, no longer heading towards A City, but instead back to the City District of T City.
Love belonged to them, and so did their future life. Even if they really did get married, building their life together would still depend on both of them, so they resolved to bravely face any challenges or resistance.
Julia Bluen was still worrying about Rachel Bailey when Glades Horne came to pick her up from work. In front of her, he called Hansen Ruiz, who said he had picked up Rachel Bailey. After Rachel Bailey had talked to Julia Bluen on the phone, her heart finally settled down.
"Today, really, has been full of surprises and shocks," Julia Bluen said from the backseat of the Rolls-Royce, as she handed Glades Horne’s phone back to him, reflecting on the day’s events.
First, the doctor confirmed the happy news that she was most likely pregnant, an almost 99.9 percent certainty. This was a joyous discovery, followed quickly by Rachel Bailey’s plea for help, which had sent her heart racing with worry.
Fortunately, Rachel Bailey was now okay.
Judging by Rachel Bailey’s tone, things seemed to have gone well with Hansen Ruiz, right?
Although she knew the Ruiz Family would not easily accept Rachel Bailey, from a friend’s standpoint, she still hoped that Rachel Bailey and Hansen Ruiz could truly end up together. After all, Hansen Ruiz was a one-in-a-hundred kind of good man.
"Pleasant Goat..."
Julia Bluen’s phone suddenly rang.
She took out her phone and saw it was from the Bluen Family. She quickly answered, her heart tensing again with worry—her sister’s issue with Marcel Horne was still unresolved.
"Julia, have you finished work? Mom has simmered some soup; it’s very nutritious for both mother and child. Have Glades bring you home to eat it. You silly girl, getting pregnant and not even telling Mom so she could also be happy. You don’t know, with your sister’s issue, Mom hasn’t been able to smile," Scarlett Taylor’s affectionate and gentle voice came through.
Julia Bluen was taken aback. How did her mother find out about her pregnancy?
Goodness, she hadn’t even been to the hospital for a check-up, and now it seemed like the whole world was going to know about it?
What if the doctor’s skills were not up to par, and there had been a mistake in the diagnosis...
"The doctor would never make such a basic error," Glades Horne said, having seen through his wife’s worries, and reached out to hold her hand that wasn’t holding the phone.
If the family doctor hired by the Horne Family made such a mistake, he would have been fired long ago.
"Mom, it’s not..., well, okay, I’ll come back with Glades now," Julia Bluen said, too tired to explain further and not wanting to dampen her mother’s spirits.
Indeed, because of her sister’s situation, her mother’s smiles had become much less frequent recently.
"Alright then, I’ll serve the soup now, and by the time you get back, it should be just the right temperature," Scarlett Taylor said joyfully, then hung up the phone.
Looking at her phone screen after the call ended, Julia Bluen suddenly thought of something. Knowing she was pregnant, her mother-in-law and her own mother would naturally want to nourish her. Wouldn’t that mean she’d have to drink those tonic soups every day? Oh, the horror was about to begin.
Just as she was thinking this, Mila Anderson actually called.
"Julia, I personally bought a lot of nourishing foods and made a soup. I’ve got everything, and I didn’t let the servants help at all. I can’t trust anyone else with food for my grandchild—I had to do it myself as the grandmother. It’s almost done; you must come home for dinner. By the time you’re back, it’ll be ready. I’ll serve a bowl for you then so it won’t be too hot when you drink it."
Well, it’s true that what you wish for, or in this case, dread, often comes true.
Julia Bluen felt her scalp tingle as she listened.
Her own mother had also made soup and asked her to come home immediately to drink it. Now her mother-in-law had also said she made soup and asked her to come home immediately to drink it as well.
She was only one person, with one stomach, wasn’t she? The little bean inside her wasn’t even as big as a mung bean yet; how much nutrition could it possibly absorb? How much of the soup prepared by both mothers could she drink?
And she knew without even having to think too hard about it that neither mother would be satisfied with just a sip or two.
After hanging up with her mother-in-law, Julia Bluen turned her head and saw Glades Horne looking at her with an unreadable smile.
She spread her hands out, overwhelmed, and asked, "What do we do? Which home do we go back to for dinner?" If they went to the Bluen Family’s home, his mother would certainly be unhappy; if they went to the Horne Family, her mother would also be sad.
"We can’t go against the wishes of both mothers; indeed, that’s a tough one," Glades Horne said, still with that unreadable smile and a hint of teasing in his voice. Julia Bluen could hear the amusement in his words and, unable to help herself, pinched his waist as she reproached, "This is all your fault."
HEH HEH!
Glades Horne wrapped her in his arms, a slight smile on his face, and looking up, he instructed Wade Coleman, "First, to the Bluen house, then to our Horne house."
"Heavens, I really can’t drink that much!" Julia Bluen exclaimed, knowing as soon as she heard his instructions that he meant for her to drink the soup prepared by both mothers.
"Just take a few sips, that should be enough. At this stage, there’s actually no need for excessive nutrition," Glades Horne said cheerfully.
Julia Bluen pouted, thinking about how she might avoid the overzealous nurturing by both mothers in the future!
「Bluen Family Home.」
Chris Bluen and his sister, Ruby Bluen, usually didn’t come home for lunch. They’d either have plans with friends or lunch with clients. The Bluen Family consortium was so large, operated by three key individuals, with Chris Bluen and his son, Leo Bluen, at the core of its leadership. Even though Ruby Bluen was only the Director of the Finance Department, Chris Bluen treated his children equally; Ruby Bluen, Leo Bluen, and Julia Bluen all held fifteen percent of the shares in the Bluen Family consortium, making her a shareholder as well, which often required her to meet with clients and handle similar responsibilities.
