CHAPTER 146: CHAPTER 18: THE DRAMA QUEEN SISTER REFUSES TO BE CANNON FODDER (PART 18)
Seeing the last bit of light overhead about to disappear, Jiang Lai just turned his head to stare at Gu Han Yan, and then the vine wrapped around her ankle seemed to suddenly rebel, turning back to directly wrap around Gu Han Yan’s hand.
Gu Han Yan was furious, shook off the vine, red-eyed and chased closely.
Jiang Lai wanted to cast a skill, but Little Buding reminded him.
"You can’t do that, she’s the heroine, and you’re just cannon fodder. The most basic rule is that cannon fodder can’t kill the heroine, otherwise this world is doomed."
"Even if she falls and dies, it’s my fault?"
"That’s also because you pushed her, otherwise she wouldn’t have fallen."
"Damn."
Jiang Lai ignored her, controlling the falling stones, stepping on them continuously to climb upwards, while Gu Han Yan clung to the vine wrapped around sturdy stones and pursued closely.
Fortunately, she’s a bit rational now, knowing that the key is to save herself, so she disregarded everything else and climbed upwards vigorously.
Jiang Lai climbed up first along with the light, barely catching his breath before seeing flames engulfing the entire village, and a large area of houses had collapsed. The people in the team were holding torches trying to save lives, Little Buding’s voice was somewhat sharp.
"Hurry, the savior’s footing has collapsed!"
Jiang Lai turned around and saw a patch of ground at an otherwise calm and safe area suddenly collapse beneath Lin Yan’s feet.
Lin Yan didn’t even have time to make a sound before disappearing.
Jiang Lai was silent for a while, then sighed deeply, sprinted a hundred meters and jumped down without hesitation.
"Did he kill God in his past life or something?"
It’s really not easy for a person to be this unlucky, Jiang Lai could hardly imagine how he managed to live this long.
Underground, a huge pit had already formed, currently quiet, visibility very low, almost pitch black, Jiang Lai struggled to climb the slope at risk of sliding and shouted as he went.
"Doctor Bai!"
"Doctor Bai, shout if you hear me!"
"Doctor Bai?!"
"Doctor Bai!!"
In the pitch-black underground, only Jiang Lai’s shouting could be heard. As she shouted, she spread spiritual power searching everywhere, when a weak voice suddenly came from not far away in the darkness.
"Here."
Jiang Lai hurried over, pulled away rock and saw the man trapped underneath.
It was too dark around, Jiang Lai couldn’t clearly see the man’s condition, but as long as he wasn’t dead, it was fine.
She groped to remove the rocks around him, dragging his arms, preparing to pull him out when a muffled groan came from the darkness, sounded very painful.
Jiang Lai quickly let go.
"What’s wrong?"
"My leg is stuck."
"Why didn’t you say so earlier?"
Jiang Lai was strong now, if not careful, might tear him in half.
His voice sounded extremely weak, Jiang Lai crawled to the large stone overhead, relied on touch to remove the stone pressing on Lin Yan’s leg.
Her palm felt a wet stickiness, strong smell of blood, Jiang Lai silently moved his leg out slowly, then dragged his arms to let him lie on her back.
"Hang in there, I’ll take you up."
Lin Yan was already exhausted, losing too much blood made him extremely weak, couldn’t even raise his hands.
"Take out what’s in the left pocket of my pants, medicine inside."
Jiang Lai quickly reached in, felt around in his left pocket, sure enough found something, just about to pull it out when Lin Yan murmured from behind.
"Where are you touching?"
Jiang Lai paused, instinctively shifted her hand, it didn’t feel right.
"Uh..."
Lin Yan frowned, with a tinge of anger in his voice.
"Did you do that on purpose?"
"I didn’t, don’t say that."
Jiang Lai quickly took the box from his pocket, opened it, and asked him.
"How many pills?"
"Three."
Just as Jiang Lai was about to help him take them, she suddenly remembered something, then wiped her hands on her clothes, and poured three pills directly into his mouth.
Lin Yan didn’t say anything either, after taking the medicine allowed Jiang Lai to carry him, then stumbled back up again.
Once up, many people gathered around to inquire about Lin Yan’s condition.
A young girl in the team, Wang Lele, was most concerned, approached to ask.
"Doctor Lin, are you okay?"
Lin Yan wasn’t okay, he closed his eyes not wanting to speak, Jiang Lai beside him responded.
"He lost a lot of blood, could you please boil some water."
Wang Lele heard this and quickly ran over to busy herself.
Jiang Lai carried Lin Yan into the vehicle, turned on the light, and when the light spilled down, she finally saw Lin Yan’s current appearance.
Usually obsessively clean, Lin Yan was now covered in dirt, his glasses gone, his fair face streaked with blood marks, the one on his forehead particularly deep, skin rolled back and the wound had already turned black.
The only doctor got injured, and not lightly.
In the team there was someone with healing abilities, but the little girl never actively used her superpower, probably to protect herself.
So Jiang Lai never intended to expose her.
Now they had to see if the little girl was willing or not.
Hot water was sent in, the young girl didn’t want to leave, and actively proposed taking care of Doctor Lin.
Jiang Lai was glad to relax, happily gave up her position.
Unexpectedly, just as Wang Lele’s hand was about to touch Lin Yan, the man, who had been lying with eyes closed as if asleep, suddenly opened his eyes, his clear eyes cold and indifferent.
"Don’t touch me."
Wang Lele’s hand froze in midair, stunned followed by awkwardness and tension.
"Doctor, let me clean your wound."
"Thank you, no need to trouble yourself. Jiang Lai, where are you going?"
Jiang Lai, who had already taken a step outside, pulled her foot back, turned to look at Lin Yan, his eyes had a hint of dissatisfaction, dark yet somewhat attractive.
"I’m going to see if anybody else needs help."
"I’m the one who needs help the most here."
Wang Lele awkwardly stood up, put down the towel, then turned and left, leaving Jiang Lai and Lin Yan staring at each other silently.
What was he up to now.
Afraid his wound would get infected and die, Jiang Lai resignedly sat back, picked up the towel just prepared to wipe, but saw Lin Yan turn his head away directly.
"Get antiseptic wipes from my box."
Jiang Lai pursed her lips, patiently got the items.
While wiping, it was obviously painful, Lin Yan’s brows remained tightly furrowed.
"My surname is Lin."
He suddenly said this, Jiang Lai nodded.
"Yeah, but I think calling you Doctor Bai flows better."
She carefully wiped, not missing any corners, afraid of missing somewhere that might get infected, and directly cause Lin Yan to die.
This man was too fragile, Jiang Lai was extremely meticulous and cautious.
Lin Yan looked at her.
"You seem to be afraid I might get injured."
