CHAPTER 618: CHAPTER 618: IS MY SISTER AWAKE YET?
Amelia Linton’s steps paused for just a moment, but she didn’t stop walking; she continued towards the hospital entrance, her pace unconsciously quickening.
Seeing this, Fabian Holmes, no longer sulking, quickly got into the car and drove after her.
Two legs are no match for four wheels, and soon he caught up with her who had left first.
"Get in the car!"
Fabian Holmes rolled down the window and shouted for Amelia Linton to get in the car. Due to some resentment towards her, his tone was not pleasant, nor was his expression.
Amelia Linton turned her head to look at the man calling her to get in, hesitated for a moment, but eventually went around, opened the passenger side door, and got into the car.
As soon as she sat down, he slammed the accelerator, and the car shot out of the hospital gates.
"Slow down!"
The suddenly increased speed reminded Amelia Linton of last night’s experience, and her hands unconsciously clasped together, a flash of hatred flickering in her eyes.
Fabian Holmes’s eyes were fixed straight ahead. Even if he wasn’t staring ahead, he couldn’t have noticed the hatred in Amelia Linton’s eyes, because it flashed by too quickly for anyone to detect.
Upon hearing her shout, he didn’t verbally respond but did slow down the car.
Not long after driving out of the hospital, Fabian Holmes’s phone rang from his pocket. He slowed the car even more and freed a hand to take out the phone and glance at it.
The call was from Michael Linton. Because of the conversation in the pavilion last night, he had a renewed understanding of Michael, his brother-in-law, and no longer felt intimidated by him. Instead, he now had a sense of admiration for him.
"Hello!"
Setting aside his thoughts, he answered the call.
"Has my sister woken up?"
Michael Linton had visited Amelia Linton at the hospital before heading to the military district, but at that time, she was still asleep, and he didn’t wake her; he left after a quick look.
Fabian Holmes instinctively glanced at Amelia Linton in the passenger seat and replied, "We just left the hospital and are heading home now."
He truthfully informed his brother-in-law on the other end of the phone of the situation, with no intention of hiding anything.
"Then pass the phone to my sister."
As soon as Michael Linton finished speaking, Fabian Holmes handed the phone to Amelia Linton. She did not know the call was from her brother; she thought it was from Theodore Holmes.
She reached out to push his hand away, but his next words stopped her hand instantly, "It’s Michael’s call."
He shoved the phone directly into her hand and then refocused on driving.
"Michael?!"
Amelia Linton was astounded that the call was from Michael Linton and looked surprised at Fabian Holmes, but he seemed uninterested in explaining anything to her.
She picked up the phone he had forcibly placed in her hand and put it to her ear, "Hello!"
Up until she answered the call, she couldn’t believe the person on the other end was her brother.
"Sis! It’s me!"
The conversation between Amelia Linton and Fabian Holmes had been heard clearly by Michael Linton, who was listening on the phone, and he quickly spoke up to prove it was him on the line.
Hearing Michael Linton’s voice, Amelia Linton became even more surprised and blurted out, "How did you know I was at the hospital?!"
She had clearly heard earlier that the man driving said they had just left the hospital to go home.
