Re-Awakening: Evolving My Shadow Limitlessly With A System
Chapter 60: Assassin Class, Three Truths Of Assassination
CHAPTER 60: ASSASSIN CLASS, THREE TRUTHS OF ASSASSINATION
"Huh?"
"The last two Dhampirs I met tried to kill me. So... just asking to be safe." I clarified.
Understanding dawned in her eyes.
"Oh, you are asking why you met multiple Dhampir in Europe? That’s not unusual given the current international events.
"Many of the Supernaturals are relocating out of the States.
"In fact, that’s why we sisters are taking this test.
"We were Anomaly Hunters in States.
"But the States doesn’t have a major hidden clan, so the license from there isn’t useable as an official license outside of States.
"That’s why we’re getting our new licenses from Underworld," Selene explained.
"Why the sudden relocation?" I asked.
"Because of House Daelthorn. Frank Daelthorn was betrayed and killed by mercenaries from the States. Now, the House is putting pressure on every supernatural in the U.S.
"Given the House Daelthorn’s history, many of us decided to move out before they went on a killing spree, or did something worse."
I nodded slowly.
’So it’s because of that.’
’House Daelthorn probably decided to hide the news that Monkey King killed Frank, and lied that the mercenaries killed him.’
Now that I understood why the three dhampir sisters had fled to Greece, I left.
"See you later."
"See you."
I created several portals and reached the Xirochori Ruins.
That location had the Warp Point that allowed me to use the Super Long Distance Portal.
Using the Warp Point, I returned home.
The day passed quietly.
I left the house at night.
I didn’t go far, and stayed in the cave where I had created the first Warp Point.
I sat down on the dirt and pulled out a large political map of Europe from my Inventory Rune.
The surface was marked already with notes, symbols, and a few red crosses.
"I’ve got one week before the Anomaly Hunt."
"In that time, I need to create another Super Long Distance Portal to England. And I need to get stronger."
Travel wasn’t the hard part anymore.
But England was too far to jump to consistently, and Anomaly hunts took time.
Even if I got lucky and found the target fast, it would still take days.
I would need to return home multiple times.
That needed me to build a stable portal system ahead of time.
I looked over the map and chose ten locations that could act as stable nodes for my network.
"The location needs to be abandoned, hidden, or dangerous enough to keep people away. These places will be the ideal locations to hide warp points."
Over the next three days, I went from one location to the next.
I had to scout for perfect places to create portals.
"These places are good enough."
– Verlorenes Tal (Lost Valley), Switzerland
– Höllgrotten Caves – Forgotten Upper Chambers, near Baar, Switzerland
– Black Forest — Mummelsee Shelter Ruins, Germany
– Abandoned NATO Bunker, Kaiserslautern Forest, Germany
– Zone Rouge, Verdun Forest, France
– Fort de la Chartreuse Ruins, Belgian border
– Bois du Cazier Forest Edge, Belgium
– Groesbeek Forest – WWII Bunker Remnants, Netherlands
– Sherwood Forest – The Bleak Hollow, England
– Abandoned RAF Fauld Site, near Burton-upon-Trent, England
Some of these places were known danger zones.
The Verdun forest still suffered from buried toxins.
The RAF site had a collapsed munitions depot.
All of that made them perfect for what I needed.
When I finally placed the tenth Warp Point, I sat on a rock overlooking a quiet field near Sherwood Forest and checked the Warp Points before connecting them.
"Perfect weather, the tectonic plates are stable, and wild mana interference is kept at minimum."
Connecting the Warp Points was the hardest part.
"It’s thanks to my Stabilized Ink perk reducing the probability of runes to misfire due to environmental or mana interference.
"Without it, I would have to spend weeks to stabilize everything."
I began merging the Warp Points using the third Perk [Linked Glyphs].
Class: Runesmith
Rank 0 → Rank 1
Grade: Formulation Runesmith → Combat Runesmith
+2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, +3 Spirit
Perk [Basic Inscription] → [Intermediate Inscription]
Effect: You can now permanently inscribe Intermediate Runes on objects.
I rolled my shoulders after I was done and looked at the notification.
"Runesmith Class finally reached Rank 1."
The stat bonuses increased from 1 Dex, 2 Int, and 1 Spirit to 2 Dex, 2 Int, and 3 Spirit.
This time I didn’t gain a perk, but my first perk was upgraded.
It opened up better rune combinations for me, and allowed me to draw more complex runes permanently on objects.
"Now that the portal system is done, I should focus on getting the Assassin class, and improving my Mage class’s grade."
I had four days left before I needed to meet up with others.
To grow stronger in such short time, I had made a simple plan.
"I’ve almost completed the requirements to get the Assassin Class."
The Assassin class was tricky to get due to its three requirements:
1. Kill five people without revealing yourself.
2. Have at least 50+ Dexterity and 50+ Intelligence.
3. Learn the Three Truths of Assassination.
I had already killed four people without being found out—Frank and the three mercenary he hired.
I just needed one more kill.
The second requirement was already done.
My stat growth from quests and class perks had passed both thresholds.
It was the third requirement that tripped most people up.
Assassination wasn’t just about stealth. It was about control, and understanding.
The Three Truths were simple but deep:
[Intelligence]
Know your target. Know their daily routine, their health concerns, schedules, habits, and relationships.
Know where they sleep, who guards them, what they like to eat, and how they behave when alone.
[Preparation]
Pick the right tools, time, and place.
Plan your route in and out before you go for the assassination.
Think about the disguises, the distractions, the backup plans.
Acquire weapons, build misdirection, and adapt for the unknown. This was where most people failed.
An assassin who went for assassination without completing the preparations was a failed assassin.
[Execution]
The assassination had to be fast, quiet, and ideally untraceable.
The best kill was one no one knew happened, or one that looked like an accident.
If you couldn’t vanish, at least vanish from suspicion.
Most assassins only knew one or two of these truths. I had known all three. That meant the requirement was done.
Now I only needed one more kill.
I pulled out a notebook from my Inventory.
It had the profiles of people who would be useful in future, or annoying, or problematic.
"I need a target that fits three things.
"First, they need to be close. Either in France, Switzerland, Greece, or England.
"Anywhere further I wouldn’t be able to come back to home by the morning."
If I wasn’t in the bed by the morning, mom and dad’s mind would be thrown into chaos .
"Second, the target needs to be the type of person who’ll cause serious problems in the future.
"Preferably, someone who would betray humanity and side with the invaders.
"And third... they need to be rich."
Third requirement was the most important.
I needed their wealth—especially any gold or other mana stone—to upgrade my Mage class.
I went over the targets.
"This guy..."
My eyes went to the head of a Hidden Clan.
