CHAPTER 984: CHAPTER 964: OLD MASTER WEI MAKES ANOTHER APPEARANCE
After breakfast, Luo Qianqian, with an empty belly, watched Feng Xi head back to her room to continue reading her manga, then looked at Tang Tianyi: "Take good care of my egg, okay?"
Tang Tianyi nodded, leaning back on the sofa with both arms resting on the back, turned his head to look at Luo Qianqian: "Be careful on the road."
Luo Qianqian hadn’t mentioned she was going out, but upon hearing this, she slightly opened her mouth, though it was true she was indeed going out.
"Qianqian, are you heading out?" Luo Yanran was surprised: "I happen to be going out too, let me give you a ride."
Qin Nuan glanced around and quickly changed shoes to follow: "I’m coming too."
What a joke, the two remaining people, one would get a nosebleed from just a few more glances, and the other couldn’t spit out even a single sentence for ages. It’s more fun to banter with Luo Yanran instead.
Luo Qianqian didn’t mind, the three of them parted ways after going downstairs, Luo Qianqian let them handle their own matters while she hailed a taxi.
Upon reaching the military compound, Luo Qianqian rummaged through her small temporary backpack and packed two boxes inside before she walked up to the soldier standing like a statue on duty: "Hello, I’m here to see Old Master Deng."
"Please wait a moment." Seeing it was a little girl and one who looked a bit familiar, the new soldier quickly stood at attention and asked someone inside the gate post to make a call, while Luo Qianqian calmly filled out the visitor’s register, each stroke neat and precise: Luo Qianqian.
The person glanced at it a couple of times and nearly fell over. Though they hadn’t met her, her name was quite well-known in the compound.
Praised by the commanders, and not just one but two commanders, yet their children were all dissatisfied. Why? Because she never shows up!
"Qianqian?" Chang Xi happened to come back to visit her grandpa and was surprised to see Luo Qianqian standing obediently at the gate.
But she quickly put on a stern face: "Who are you visiting?"
A bit confused, Luo Qianqian politely replied: "I’m here to bring gifts to Grandpa Wei and Grandpa Deng?"
"Oh, you remember my grandpa, huh?" Chang Xi looked displeased and waved to the side as she said, "I’ll take her away." Her face was full of hidden joy and excitement.
Still with a stern face, she walked with Luo Qianqian, saying: "You can make friends with so many people and know to give them Spirit of Jade, but you forget my grandpa? You must feel guilty after hearing it from my dad, right?"
Luo Qianqian sheepishly scratched her head; no one mentioned the Wei Family at the time, so she just forgot...
"You can talk, can’t you see this thing takes time to carve? You also didn’t call to hurry us up while you’re out mooning over your honeymoon?" She retorted, serious yet playful.
Chang Xi’s face flushed a bit in embarrassment; she indeed was busy playing around and wasn’t quite up to date with what’s going on back home.
"Humph, then I’ll forgive you. I heard the real estate you exchanged for Spirit of Jade doubled in value; you’re really good at making money. I admire you." Chang Xi sighed slightly, looking at the doorway just ahead, giving Luo Qianqian a sheepish look: "Help me cover when grandpa scolds me later, okay?"
"Why?"
"You little brat, you dare to come back???" Surprisingly, Old Master Wei inside had already heard Chang Xi’s voice.
Grandpa Wei came rushing out with a broom: "You dare to bring... huh? Qianqian? ... Humph."
Luo Qianqian watched as Old Master Wei’s expression shifted from anger to surprise, then to a proud pout, finding it rather amusing.
Grandpa Wei shouldn’t have been a soldier, he should have studied face-changing, see how skilled he is at it.
"Grandpa Wei, I’ve come to see you, and you are about to sweep me out the door? Then I’ll take the gifts too." Luo Qianqian sighed and turned as if to leave.
Chang Xi hurriedly pulled her back; with Luo Qianqian here, she could distract her grandpa so his attention wouldn’t stay on her. She must keep her here!!!
After all... She was already this old and still got into fights, and even slightly needed grandpa to clean up after, which indeed was a bit embarrassing.
Plus, Ye Liang was so mad he refused to drive her here.
"Humph, come in." Looking at Luo Qianqian, Old Master Wei stopped holding the broom and turned back inside.
Chang Xi let out a long breath of relief, as if a weight had been lifted.
Luo Qianqian, amused, followed Chang Xi inside, watching Grandfather Wei sit properly in his solid wood chair, holding a teacup, and the duster placed on the tea table.
Luo Qianqian found it even funnier, shrugged helplessly, and took a long box out of her backpack: "This is a gift I brought you from afar, see if you like it?"
Saying so, she cheerfully ran to Grandpa Wei’s side and handed it to him.
Grandpa Wei gave a humph: "And what about your Spirit of Jade?"
"Grandpa Wei, you should know that eager offerings aren’t the deal; I do have it, but that’s business, not a gift I give freely, so these two can’t be put together." Luo Qianqian seriously said, "Unless, you’re willing to have Sister Xi pour me a glass of water, then I might consider it." With a mischievous smile, Luo Qianqian displayed her cheekiness.
Grandpa Wei glared, glanced at Chang Xi: "Didn’t you hear?"
Chang Xi gave an "aye" happily and went to pour water.
Indeed, keeping Luo Qianqian was the right decision; today is too lucky, must buy a lottery ticket later.
Grandpa Wei opened the box in front of him, his lips twitching instantly, and closed it again: "You’ve become quite rich, haven’t you?"
Luo Qianqian just laughed mischievously.
"Take it back, it’s too valuable."
"Grandpa Wei, this is a gift from a junior to a senior, you should know, that Spirit of Jade is worth several billion a piece, money isn’t the issue, it’s the thought that counts." Luo Qianqian earnestly said.
Chang Xi brought the water over, hearing their conversation, she cluelessly reached out to open the box.
She just got a look at it when Grandpa Wei snatched it away: "What are you looking at, you couldn’t afford it if it cracked!"
"Grandpa Wei would do well to use it to soak in wine or something, it’s excellent, my grandpa has one too, so you don’t have to worry too much." Luo Qianqian grinned widely.
The one for Old Master Luo, of course, was better quality than for the others, being her own grandfather, she couldn’t bear to let him lag behind.
"Alright, later let Chang Xi find you to buy that Spirit of Jade, I’ve noticed Old Man Deng has been looking a lot younger." Old Master Wei didn’t forget to mention this.
"Sure thing, don’t worry, I’ve got it noted down."
After chatting with Old Master Wei for a while, she left the Wei residence with Chang Xi, sharing a smile.
Before Luo Qianqian could say anything, she saw Grandpa Deng’s duty soldier standing at the gate, nearly in tears, and she felt puzzled.
"Finally, you’re out, Old Master Deng has been waiting forever." He said, stepping forward to help with Luo Qianqian’s backpack, so Luo Qianqian had no choice but to bid a quick farewell to Chang Xi.
Chang Xi was in such a good mood she hummed a tune as she left the compound.
