CHAPTER 117: OOPS...HE IS FURIOUS!!

Aurora made her way downstairs after freshening up, her mood betraying the composure she tried to wear.

Her mind was still reeling from the shock of what she’d discovered yesterday—and that dream.

Was it just her imagination playing tricks, or was it something real? The girl in the dream had been beautiful, nothing like the body Aurora had woken up in.

Slender and graceful, with long flowing hair and striking features... she looked exactly like me, Luna thought.

Except for those vivid green eyes that set her apart—eyes that shimmered with both sorrow and familiarity.

Maybe she was the real Aurora—how she must have looked in the real world if her body hadn’t been ravaged by those drugs.

She was utterly beautiful. Now, after months of exercise and detox, Aurora’s original body had begun to resemble that vision from the dream.

Not as toned, perhaps, but undeniably the same.

What confused her most was how the girl had known her. That question gnawed at Luna’s mind.

And if she wasn’t mistaken, the dream ended with Aurora pushing her soul into this body... whatever it was—dream or not—Luna knew one thing: she would live Aurora’s life to the fullest now.

She would make her loved and envied, and those who had once demeaned her would never be able to reach her again.

Aurora stepped into the kitchen to prepare something for herself and Jenny—but stopped in her tracks.

There stood Sebastian, at the kitchen counter, wearing a Hello Kitty apron and cooking breakfast. The sight stunned her. She swallowed hard.

The morning light poured in through the windows, casting a golden halo around him.

His rolled-up sleeves revealed veins running down his muscular arms, his shirt clung perfectly to his frame, his dark hair neatly in place.

It was like he had descended straight from the heavens.

"Am I looking delicious, Ms. Smith?" he asked with a teasing smirk.

Aurora snapped out of her daze, face flushing.

She mumbled something under her breath and quickly moved to the center table, pouring herself a glass of water and pretending she hadn’t heard him.

"Good morning, Mr. Harper," she said, then glanced deliberately at the breakfast he’d made. "Thank you for the breakfast. I owe you one."

"My pleasure, Doctor," he replied smoothly.

Aurora looked down at the feast—avocado toast, poached eggs, fresh juice... all her favourites.

He made them for me, she thought, a flicker of surprise crossing her face. But how does he know?

She quickly brushed the thought aside, convincing herself it was just a coincidence.

But what she didn’t know was that Sebastian had a remarkably sharp eye—one that missed nothing, especially when it came to her.

Even though they had only shared a handful of meals, he had observed her carefully enough to know her favorites.

Little details most would miss, but not him. He remembered it all.

Of course, he also had Bishop, who had dropped a few hints just minutes ago when he came into the kitchen to grab something.

And Jennie to thank for a few extra clues... though that part of the story made him cringe just thinking about it, and he had no intention of ever bringing it up.

Still, he wouldn’t deny that preparing breakfast for her—knowing she’d enjoy it—brought a quiet satisfaction.

Even if she brushed it off as coincidence, her slight surprise hadn’t gone unnoticed by him.

Meanwhile, Alexander hadn’t returned home all night. He was still searching for Aurora but had come up empty.

A hurried knock broke the silence and Derek stepped inside.

"Boss, there’s trouble at the company," he said quickly. "A foreign company is targeting us.

Some of our Swiss accounts are frozen, and one of our branch heads has been arrested for tax fraud. Our stock prices are falling fast."

Alexander’s eyes darkened with cold fury. But before responding, he asked, "Any updates on Aurora?"

Derek hesitated, then shook his head. "No, sir."

"Then get those fools to search properly—or they can sail off to the North Pole and not bother coming back," Alexander snapped.

Derek nodded quickly and left. Alexander knew about the company’s setbacks. So far, only a few subsidiaries were affected.

It wasn’t a big hit—he had bigger plans in motion. Billions were on the horizon. But for now, his only priority was finding Aurora.

On the other side, Aurora sat before her laptop, her fingers flying across the keys. The screen flickered black, then glowed with strings of red code.

She was digging into hospital databases, searching for any record of twins born 22 years ago.

She scoured files from Summer City to nearby towns—every hospital, every orphanage, every private record she could access.

But nothing. Not a single birth record matched what she was looking for. Every lead crumbled under scrutiny.

Only one set of identical twins had been recorded as born 22 years ago, and for a brief moment, Luna felt a surge of hope spark in her chest.

But that hope was quickly crushed. She checked deeper—both girls were alive and well, living with their biological families.

No adoption. No disappearance. No connection.

It didn’t make sense. It was as if she and Aurora had never existed on paper. As if someone had deliberately erased them from history.

Her fingers hovered over the keyboard, ready to widen the search even more, but before she could type another command, a loud, urgent knock echoed through the room, jolting her back to reality.

Bishop entered with a complicated expression. He was composed as usual, but something in his eyes betrayed him.

"Boss," he said.

Aurora looked up. "Did you bring them?"

He nodded. "But... why meet them after all these years?"

Aurora smiled faintly, but there was no warmth in her eyes. "I found my sister, Bishop. And not just a sister—a twin. And she’s dead."

Bishop’s eyes widened in disbelief.

"You know who she is?" Aurora asked. "She’s me. This body I’m in... it was hers. And now she’s gone."

Bishop trembled. He knew how much Luna had longed for family. He had practically raised her, seen her through every heartbreak.

Though twenty years her senior, he saw her as a daughter. And now... this truth shattered him.

His eyes turned red at the corners. After a long pause, he finally asked, "Can I interrogate them first?"

Aurora shook her head. "No." Then she told him everything—about the DNA, the mismatched records.

Bishop was beyond furious when he heard that. His fists clenched at his sides, jaw tight with restrained anger.

Who the hell had the audacity to go this far? To tamper with lives so ruthlessly, to erase truths and forge identities like they were pieces on a chessboard?

But both he and Aurora had come to one undeniable conclusion—none of this was the doing of ordinary people.

Whoever was behind this had power, reach, and a damn good reason to hide something.

Otherwise, why go to such lengths? Why fabricate false records, manipulate DNA, and bury the past so deeply?

What were they hiding? And more importantly—who were they hiding it from?

And the most chilling question of all—why did they want both Aurora and Luna gone?

Was this some kind of deep-rooted jealousy? Or an old enmity festering in the shadows?

Whatever it was, they were determined to uncover it.

They would dig through every lie, rip apart every mask—no matter how powerful the enemy.

They would find the truth, no matter what it cost.

"Check their background," she ordered. "Who they’ve been in contact with for the last 22 years.

And check if they have a biological child. My DNA was likely forged with theirs—switched with that child’s.

I want to know what they’re hiding. I need confirmation that they are not my parents."

She paused, her voice sharp now. "And Bishop... check on Lily. What was she doing 22 years ago? How did she get Aurora?"

After Bishop left, Aurora sat in silence for a moment, her fingers trembling slightly as they hovered over the keyboard.

After much contemplation, she contacted a number she thought she wouldn’t reach out to—not until much later, at least.

She opened the encrypted software, one only used for communicating with the Phantoms. With a deep breath, she typed only a few words:

"I have a job for you."

Then she hit send.

Minutes ticked by slowly. Then—ding.

Her phone buzzed violently with multiple incoming messages. She already knew what they would say. She didn’t want to open them, didn’t want to face the storm she had knowingly triggered.

But she had no choice.

First message:"You dare!!"

Second:"After betraying us and playing with our emotions... you dare contact us after months of silence?"

Third:"You selfish, cruel bitch... you show up now, asking for help, without even checking in? Did you ever wonder how we’ve been managing without you?

Did you ever think about your team?"

Then came the fourth... fifth... sixth...

Each one filled with rage, curses, hurt.

But Aurora didn’t react with anger. No. She understood.

This was Hunter. Her brother—not by blood, but by life. Her most loyal confidant. If anyone had suffered the most from her "death," it was him.
