Rebirth as a Xenomorph in the Apocalypse
Chapter 23
It just ended up this long... ?
''Where could they have gone? It''s not even like they had enough time to evacuate the room when I burst in.'' I stuck out my proboscis and smelled the air, yet their scents just seemed to disappear.
''Oh? If I''m right, this is gonna suck... If that soldier who randomly appeared have a special power, say space manipulation and held a space to another dimension like a certain mc of a novel I liked as a human, I could be waiting here indefinitely!'' I looked around and saw nothing but desks with chairs neatly pushed in, and then I lost it.
My tail slashed out, bisecting desks and chairs in two as I raged and spat acid everywhere.
[Ding. It is recommended host evolve quickly, or host will perish.]
I stopped when the screen popped up and walked out the room and looked for a nearby zombie.
''I didn''t want to do this, I truly didn''t, but here goes nothing... System store.''
[Store]
[Face Hugger 10 Points]
[Xenomorph Egg 5 Points]
[ Available Points : 15 ]
''Purchase a face hugger, and then find me the nearest human.''
[Ding. Nearest human is 73 meters away, in the gymnasium with several other human presences.]
I head in the direction indicated, moving along the wall, because why not, it looks cooler that way.
Then I came across another thing I didn''t expect, a crate sitting on the roof, visible through a window in the hall I found myself in.
Shattering the glass with the swipe of a tail, I pushed myself out and climbed to the roof.
Coming to a stop a few feet away, I looked at the crate, but saw no obvious markings on it.
''Guess the military dropped it here, judging from the parachute and whatnot.'' I shrugged and broke the lock on the crate easily.
Popping it open, I found a beautiful gun.
''Do you identify items?'' I asked the system whilst carressing the cold metal.
[Ding. It is a DPMS G2 Recon. It boasts a 16" stainless steel bead blasted barrel, DPMS hunter gas block, 4 rail free-float tube, and MagPul? MOE pistol grip and stock. All of this in a 8.5 pound platform. ]
''Well damn, I didn''t expect you to actually give me a good appraisal, guess the novels are wrong, you start out amazing appraisal-san.'' I chuckled, and made a clicking noise in actuality.
''I''ll leave you here until I find a safe place for you, you can be useful.'' I leapt off the roof and ran along the walls of the building before coming to a stop and prying open a window high up on the wall near the ceiling.
''It''ll be great if I don''t make a scene.'' I slid into the gymnasium silent as a ghost and carefully moved along the wall with practiced ease.
Then I saw a human sleeping, shivering in the darkness and then I froze slightly.
''Can I do this? He has no relation to me and has done me no wrongs, should I murder him, am I really as bad as Rachel says I am?'' I froze, joints locked as I crouched on the wall.
''Perhaps I am, but then again, they''ll die soon anyway, at least he won''t become a zombie.'' I shoved my messy thoughts away and slowly climbed down from the wall, my claws clicking against the surface.
Then I was close, closer than I''d ever been to a human since I''d died and reincarnated.
His face was pale, and he seemed to be quite handsome, not as handsome as I was, but handsome enough.
''To bad it won''t retain your handsomeness, maybe I could use it to infiltrate if it did, but it won''t.''
I made a clicking noise, my inner jaws shut and opened and he moved, not enough to be in the clear, but enough for me to ask the system to deploy the face hugger.
[Ding. Sensing host''s available for face hugger, detected one host, two feet away from host. Apply face hugger?]
''Yes, do it quickly, I don''t want others to stop it from being born.'' I watched as a face hugger appeared, literally around his face, and before he could get a single scream out, it latched around his neck with it''s tail.
He thrashed softly, however he went still rather quickly, and the nearby slumbering humans kept sleeping blissfully unaware that one of their own had perished, or would perish.
''Is there a way to move him, I don''t want it to hatch here, there are to many dangers...'' I shook my head.
[Ding. Host just need to drive the nearby threats away and claim the area for yourself.]
''Fine, good plan, good plan, and how will I do that? Any loud noises will draw the zombies, and if he gets killed before the chest buster gestates, I''ll be extremely pissed.''
[Ding. Host may block the doors, and keep the zombies out while farming for points.]
''I see you learn, as you just used my term for killing zombies, but why did this happen, the Apocalypse I mean?''
[Ding. Host has insufficient authority to access the Mainframe.]
''What''s the Mainframe?'' I imagined myself furrowing my eyebrows as I asked.
[Ding. Host has insufficient authority to access the knowledge of the Mainframe.]
''I see... Time to see if your plan works.''
I hissed loudly, and to people who had brushes with death they flew up and looked around, only to see a long skeletal black thing with a deadly tail waving slightly behind it, right above one of them, who had one appeared to be a bag on his face.
"Run! It''s a monster!" I was unsure who shouted first, but they all ran from my corner of the gym and pushed open the doors and ran outside.
''Damn, over me and the zombies, and they choose zombies? My image must not be that great...''
I climbed off the wall and walked to the doors, smelling the humans as they tried, and when I say tried, I mean tried to sneak off without alerting me.
Then an idiot opened the door and rushed outside when a hand caught him and a set of jaws clamped down on his neck.
''Oh yea, that reminds me, I haven''t killed that Tier 2 zombie yet...''
I watched as its glowing green eyes focused on me, then a sliver of recognition pawed through it''s otherwise dead eyes, and it turned and ran!
''Hey! I''m not that scary, am I?'' I asked if no one in particular while sighing.
