CHAPTER 262: CHAPTER 211: WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT WE’D BE INVOLVED
Bai Shasha whispered, "Fake Yuejing!"
"Huh? You’re still in contact with him? Don’t tell me he texted you saying he’s somewhere nearby!" Li Si felt like her thoughts couldn’t keep up. Cherry Valley was a place they visited on a whim, and if they bumped into Fake Yuejing here, she could only sigh and mutter, ’What are the odds!’"
Bai Shasha nodded, still scanning the farmhouse restaurant, peering at unfamiliar faces, but Fake Yuejing was nowhere in sight.
Li Si joined her in the search. Sitting by the window, she glanced outside at the parking area. "Maybe he’s not in the restaurant. Let’s head out and look!"
Bai Shasha slapped her forehead. "What was I thinking? Wasting so much effort, my eyes are blurry already! If we find this Fake Yuejing, the two of us need to give him a good roasting!"
The two laughed and chatted as they stepped out of the restaurant. From a black SUV emerged a figure—who else could it be but Jia Yuejing?
Jia Yuejing greeted them with a warm smile, looking at the two beautiful ladies holding a monkey as they walked toward him. "Long time no see! You two gorgeous ladies are still as dazzling as ever! Who owns this monkey? It’s insanely cool!"
Bai Shasha spoke first. "It’s Li Si’s! Stop running your mouth. Tell me, what were you doing hiding in your car? Making me search all over? What’s your deal?"
Li Si smiled faintly while holding Xiao Guai, keeping her silence.
Jia Yuejing immediately pleaded. "Shasha, you’ve completely misunderstood me! I got so excited seeing you that I didn’t even leave the car. I sent you a text because I was afraid you wouldn’t answer a call!
I didn’t say I was inside the restaurant, just that I saw you! Turn around! I wasn’t lying, was I? Didn’t you see me the moment you turned around?"
Bai Shasha snorted. "Fine, drop it! Let’s not talk about that. So why are you here today anyway?"
Jia Yuejing chuckled as he looked at the two of them. "I’m here with some relatives today. Honestly, I wasn’t thrilled about coming, but seeing you two, I think it’s a good thing I came. Otherwise, how else could I run into you?"
Truth be told, despite their connections with Yin Xian, Li Si and Bai Shasha didn’t dislike Jia Yuejing much. After all, they were all from North City; meeting in a new place naturally felt familiar. So, before long, the three of them were chatting amicably.
In the course of their conversation, they learned that the company started by Jia Yuejing and Yin Xian had shut down, no longer in operation. Jia Yuejing himself had decided to head to Beijing to seek new opportunities. He had just opened a store selling computer accessories in Zhongguan Village.
It had only been a few days since opening, and business results were still uncertain.
The group intentionally avoided discussing Yin Xian and Ye Duowei. By the time they parted ways, they had even made plans to meet up again sometime.
On the way back, Li Si teased Bai Shasha. "Shasha, I think Fake Yuejing might still have feelings for you! The moment he saw you, his eyes brightened like a flashlight!"
"Get lost! Spare me your nonsense about lingering feelings—you’re really something!" Bai Shasha shot her an annoyed look, her cheeks suddenly feeling warm. "He’s just an old acquaintance at best. I’m warning you—don’t even think about pairing us up, or you’ll pay for it!"
Li Si burst into laughter. "Alright, fine! No matchmaking! But why is your face turning red? That’s so not your style!"
Her instincts told her something was going on. Otherwise, in the past, whenever she joked like this, Shasha would always stay cool and unbothered.
"I’m hot, okay? None of your business! It’s your fault anyway—your car only has two seats, so I had to hold Xiao Guai. This furry little guy is making me sweat on a day like this!" Bai Shasha scrambled to find excuses.
Xiao Guai gave her a pitiful look and deliberately squirmed. Couldn’t it sit in a seat by itself?
Li Si laughed and nodded. "Fine, whatever you say!"
"What do you mean, ’whatever I say’? I’m obviously right!"
Li Si tried to hold back her laughter, nodding repeatedly. "Yes, yes—obviously right!"
After dropping Bai Shasha off downstairs, Bai Shasha reluctantly bid goodbye to Xiao Guai, exchanged a few parting words with Li Si, and then went upstairs. Li Si drove off. When she got home, Leng Mochen wasn’t around. She glanced at the time—it was past 3 p.m.—and wondered where he could be. She decided to call him.
The call rang many times, and just when she was about to hang up, it was answered. On the other end, Leng Mochen’s deep, pleasant voice came through. "Honey, you’re home?"
Li Si sank into the sofa. "Yeah, I just got back! Where are you?"
"I’ll explain when I get home. Don’t worry!" His voice remained as deep and reassuring as ever.
"Alright." Li Si found his behavior odd but decided not to press for answers, trusting him.
After hanging up, Leng Mochen gazed steadily at Long Wu sitting on the opposite sofa.
