Li Si finished listening and, pretending to know nothing, casually said to Su Meng, "Meng Meng, Mochen asked me to go back to the house near our school for something. Looks like I won’t be able to drop you off after all!"

Long Wu immediately caught on. "Leng Er must have something urgent to discuss with you. You go ahead first; I promise to get Meng Meng home safe and sound!"

Long Wu frowned as he reluctantly parked the car at the base of the high-rise building. He got out and attentively opened the car door for Su Meng. A surprised voice from behind successfully brought a wide grin to his face.

Mrs. Su’s incredulous voice rang out, "Wensong? Why are you coming back with Meng Meng?"

She immediately felt like she’d said something wrong; after all, Meng Meng being escorted back by him wasn’t a bad thing—quite the opposite, it was what she’d been hoping for!

Long Wu flashed a harmless smile. "Auntie, we happened to run into each other. Sisi had something urgent to attend to, so I brought Meng Meng back. By the way, where are you off to?"

He noticed her travel-worn appearance; her pants and shoes were dusty, but her expression was surprisingly cheerful and brimming with happiness.

Mrs. Su warmly grabbed his hand. "Wensong, come upstairs with me. Since you’re here, you’re in luck! Our new house has finally been handed over. All the procedures are completed—we just need to finish the renovations, and we’ll be ready to move in!"

"Auntie, I’ll take care of the renovations!" Long Wu thought Mrs. Su was simply wonderful. If he could really marry Meng Meng, he’d make sure to show proper gratitude to such an amazing mother-in-law!

Mrs. Su quickly waved her hands. "No need, no need! Wensong, listen to Auntie. You’ve already done so much for our family; this time, let us handle it ourselves.

I have some money saved with Meng Meng, and we don’t need anything extravagant or opulent—we’ll be fine with a simple, cozy renovation. My former neighbor signed for the unit next door, so we can even trade ideas during renovations! Anyway, I’m truly happy today. Let’s head upstairs!"

Long Wu saw how insistent she was, so he simply smiled and nodded.

Su Meng noticed how delighted her mom was and didn’t want to ruin the mood, so she just smiled without saying much.

Mrs. Su was chatting away happily with Long Wu, but her gaze never strayed from Su Meng. Seeing her daughter finally less resistant, her heart felt sweeter than honey.

Entering the elevator, swapping her shoes, and walking inside—all done in one seamless flow—Mrs. Su headed straight for the kitchen, ready to show off her culinary skills. She wanted to properly treat Long Wu while also celebrating their new house renovations being nearly finished!
