CHAPTER 414: CHAPTER 331: WISHING YOU A HAPPY MARRIAGE

Su Meng was wearing an elegant white strapless wedding gown with a long trailing hem. The bodice was adorned with Swarovski crystals, sparkling like starlight under the hotel’s chandelier.

Her expression at this moment was one of happiness and bashful joy as she slowly walked toward Long Wu, who was standing tall in a sharp black suit, waiting for her eagerly.

Behind her followed six beautiful bridesmaids, all dressed in uniform short white wedding dresses. A cute little boy and girl were holding up the long trailing skirt of the gown.

Li Si exclaimed, "Meng Meng is gorgeous! No wonder they say every bride is the most beautiful on her wedding day."

Bai Shasha chimed in, "Meng Meng looks absolutely stunning!"

The girls sitting opposite them, however, pursed their lips in unwillingness. What an exaggeration! She didn’t see what was so beautiful about it. It was just average! But then again, who wouldn’t look good marrying into wealth?

If she were the one wearing this wedding gown, she might even outshine Su Meng.

It turned out that this girl was Hu Li, a niece from Su Meng’s aunt’s side. She had just graduated from college this year and originally came to be one of Su Meng’s bridesmaids, hoping to use the occasion to meet some wealthy bachelors.

Unexpectedly, Su Meng didn’t agree to it at all. Her bridesmaid group was finalized a long time ago, and the dresses were custom-made according to measurements.

This left Su Meng’s aunt both frustrated and disappointed, and Hu Li herself was equally upset.

She had always secretly looked down on Su Meng.

But learning that Su Meng had managed to marry someone as impressive as Long Wu—and hearing rumors that even her uncle’s new job had been arranged by him—Hu Li couldn’t help but feel envious and jealous.

She kept thinking that, in terms of looks, figure, and family background, she surpassed Su Meng in every way!

Why couldn’t someone like Long Wu take notice of her?

What was she lacking?

When Su Meng had gone missing for those few years, Hu Li even secretly speculated that maybe Su Meng had been up to no good and kept by someone under questionable circumstances.

To everyone’s surprise, Su Meng returned—and not only that, succeeded in marrying Long Wu.

Moreover, it was said that she was already pregnant with their baby, which cemented her position as the undisputed winner.

Earlier, Hu Li had set her sights on the man sitting at a nearby table, who was being kind and attentive to a pregnant woman.

From one glance, she could tell his demeanor was just as noble, if not more, than Su Meng’s husband’s. As she eavesdropped on their conversation, she became even more certain—another golden catch!

She sneaked several glances at the pregnant woman and while the woman was undeniably attractive, Hu Li still felt she didn’t match up.

If it were her, she’d actually be a better fit!

Leng Mochen finally shot her an icy, piercing glance after catching her amorous gaze again and again.

Hu Li froze, her heart sinking. That cold stare didn’t just bring a chill; it made her feel as if she’d overstepped a boundary. If she kept up her behavior, this man would surely make her regret it.

She quickly ducked her head, no longer daring to make a move.

The wedding ceremony proceeded smoothly. The charismatic emcee stirred the emotions in the room, bringing tears to the eyes of both Long Wu and Su Meng. Even Mrs. Long was deeply moved—her son finally had a wife and a child on the way, an all-in-one package!

Dragon Father, too, was beaming with joy. His son’s marriage had been his biggest concern, but now it was resolved in one fell swoop: a wedding, with a grandchild arriving in a few months.

The mere thought of becoming a grandfather—whether to a grandson or granddaughter—had him grinning ear-to-ear.

Mrs. Su was overwhelmed with emotions, trying to hold back her tears but failing utterly. They flowed freely, though they were tears of joy and a sense of deep fulfillment.

Her daughter was finally married!

She had waited and longed for this moment, and now it was complete. No matter what happened in the future, she could rest peacefully.

As the wedding ceremony concluded, all kinds of exquisite dishes began to be served, and everyone started eating.

The atmosphere at Li Si’s table, however, felt a little strange. While the girl had finally quieted down, the middle-aged woman beside her kept smiling obsequiously at Leng Mochen’s group, leaving an uncomfortable impression on everyone.

Eventually, Long Wu approached, leading Su Meng with him, followed by several bridesmaids carrying trays. Xu Er trailed behind them.

Long Wu greeted them cheerfully, raising his glass toward Leng Er, joking, "Hey there, Er! Sorry for the oversight, buddy—my wedding ended up sticking you at my in-laws’ table! I’ll make it up to you with a proper feast later!"

He turned to Sisi, saying, "Sisi, how’s the food? You’re pregnant, so no need to drink like your husband. Stick to something light, maybe just some juice!"

Then, jokingly, he continued, "But Shasha, you’ve got to have a drink! Since Sisi can’t, you can ask your Xu Er to drink on your behalf!"

Li Si smiled, lifting her glass of juice. "It’s great, Brother Wu! Wishing you and Meng Meng a happy marriage!"

Bai Shasha, cheerful as always, raised her wine glass boldly. "Brother Wu! Is this little bit of wine even worth mentioning? Wishing you and Meng Meng a lifetime of happiness!"

Leng Mochen also raised his glass. "Wu, my friend, what’s with the formalities between us? Wishing you both a blissful marriage—’happiness’ indeed!" He deliberately emphasized the word "happiness," hinting at deeper meaning.

Li Si couldn’t help but smirk, sensing her husband’s playful intent behind the word "happiness."

Long Wu and Su Meng had been chirping out thanks continuously, but after hearing Leng Mochen’s quip, Long Wu grinned mischievously. "Ah, Er, you always get me!"

With that, Long Wu and Leng Er both downed their drinks in one go.

Li Si and Bai Shasha exchanged glances, laughed lightly, and took sips of their own drinks.

Leng Mochen then placed a prepared gift box into Long Wu’s hands with a teasing look. "Don’t say I didn’t have your back, huh?"

Long Wu stared at the box for a moment before casually shaking it. "What’s this?"

Behind them, Xu Er could barely hold back his laughter. Even Bai Shasha struggled, stifling giggles.

"Tit for tat," Leng Mochen explained nonchalantly.

Long Wu cursed internally: Damn it! He knew Leng Er couldn’t possibly be that generous—it turned out this was revenge!

Forcing a smile, he replied, "You certainly don’t let anything slide, buddy! Thanks anyway!"

"No need for thanks! It’s just the proper thing to do," Leng Mochen added with a sly wink at Li Si.

The two men secretly anticipated the fun of the wedding games later that night, though Li Si wouldn’t be able to visit the newlyweds’ room since it would be too noisy.

Long Wu moved on to toast the relatives on Su Meng’s side. Everyone offered their congratulations, while Long Wu responded with polite but uninterested remarks.

Afterward, he excused himself to visit other tables.

Li Si and Bai Shasha giggled non-stop, and Bai Shasha promised that even though Li Si couldn’t join the wedding-night games, she would give her a detailed account of everything later.

Hu Li stared at the two women with resentment, unable to comprehend what went on in the minds of the wealthy.

Earlier, she had figured out that the boyfriend of the other girl was obviously a groomsman—another wealthy man!

She pondered for a moment, then made a comment to the middle-aged woman beside her before standing up to head toward Su Meng’s mother and Long Wu’s parents’ table.

At the neighboring table, Su Meng, unable to make sense of the situation, cautiously tugged Long Wu’s sleeve. "What’s going on?"

Long Wu leaned in and whispered the explanation near her ear, causing her cheeks to flush bright red. She glared at him playfully, exasperated. "Can’t you ever behave properly for once?"

After the wedding banquet dispersed, Leng Mochen and Li Si went straight home.

Bai Shasha, however, headed to the next big event—the newlyweds’ house.

Mrs. Long, mindful of giving her son and daughter-in-law their own space, had arranged their new home in a different villa not far from her own residence.

This way, visiting her grandchild after they were born would be convenient.

Her reasoning was simple: older and younger generations always have differing lifestyles, so avoiding unnecessary conflicts would be better for everyone.

Long Wu naturally agreed with his mother’s arrangement. Even if she hadn’t suggested it, he would have brought it up himself.

He wanted to savor their time as a couple before the baby arrived.

Living with his parents? How was he supposed to enjoy romance like that?
