CHAPTER 237: CHAPTER 119: DO YOU HAVE IT OR NOT_2
Sang Wan’s eyes dimmed, and she silently sighed.
"By the way," Mrs. Fang, unaware of her emotional shift, quietly asked, "Are you pregnant yet?"
"Huh? What?" Sang Wan was distracted and didn’t hear until Mrs. Fang nudged her again, prompting her confused response.
Mrs. Fang stared at her with a smile and said, "What what? I’m asking if you are pregnant yet?"
"No——not yet..." Sang Wan, taken aback, finally understood her question and blushed slightly, shaking her head gently.
"You!" Mrs. Fang anxiously pushed her and said, "Don’t take it lightly! Have you consulted a doctor? The Shi family isn’t short on money; seek out a famous doctor, and also eat more of those nourishing medicinal materials! I don’t think the young master would mind spending the money, and your mother-in-law can’t say anything, right? It’s for the sake of their Shi family’s grandson!"
"Alright, sister-in-law! I know, I’ve got it!" Sang Wan, feeling increasingly upset, hurriedly responded with a forced smile.
"You! Really irresponsible, making everyone worry!" Mrs. Fang huffed and said, "While that vixen cousin of yours is still in mourning, you must hurry up and have the child! You are the main wife, and with a son by your side, and a brother who passed the Xie Yuan exams, that vixen, with all her tactics, won’t be able to do anything to you!"
"I’ll remember what you said, sister-in-law!" Sang Wan wanted to end the topic quickly and agreed hastily, then glanced outside and said, "I see it’s getting late, sister-in-law, what are we having for dinner tonight?"
Mrs. Fang gave her a look and suddenly laughed, "Don’t worry, I won’t treat your young master poorly! See how anxious you are!"
Sang Wan was speechless, only able to smile in agreement.
"Well, it is getting late, I’ll go cook! You keep an eye on those two kids, make sure they don’t mess around!" Mrs. Fang said as she got up.
"Xiaonuan and Xiaoquan are really well-behaved! How could they cause trouble!" Sang Wan replied with a smile.
"Those two bulls! Don’t even start praising them!" Mrs. Fang said as she got up and brushed off her clothes.
Sang Wan couldn’t help but chuckle, also getting up and stepping out to watch the siblings play at the doorway.
Unexpectedly, even before dinner time, Mrs. Li indeed knocked on the door, bringing Sang Yan along, smiling as she invited Shi Fengju and Sang Wan over for dinner.
Shi Fengju, fed up with their family, made an excuse to avoid them, leaving their siblings to handle it.
Mrs. Li was much easier to send off than Sang Pingliang, having the elders and Li Zheng on her side, Mrs. Fang could easily send her away.
"How could our own sister and brother-in-law come to your home for a meal? If word gets out, people will point at our spines and gossip, saying we lack the demeanor of siblings-in-law! We cannot bear such a bad reputation!" Mrs. Fang bluntly pushed her out, locking the courtyard door from inside.
Mrs. Li was pushed out without even a chance to speak to Sang Wan, banging on the door frantically while yelling loudly. Mrs. Fang simply ignored her, pretending not to hear.
The more Mrs. Li banged on the door, the more it drew the attention of the neighbors, who all opened their doors, pointing and shaking their heads at her.
"Mom, mom, let’s go back, let’s go back!" Sang Yan, embarrassed and blushing, was anxious to pull on Mrs. Li’s sleeve.
"Go back, go back to what!" Mrs. Li forcefully tapped her daughter’s forehead and said angrily, "Useless girl, you can’t handle anything!"
"Mom! How is this my fault!" Sang Yan felt wronged and suddenly began to cry, covering her face and running towards home.
"Wretched girl! Even you dare to upset your mother! You crawled out from my intestines, can’t I even talk about you! Where did you learn this cocky attitude from! Everything’s upside down!" Mrs. Li cursed, ultimately having no way to deal with Mrs. Fang and angrily turned to go home.
"They didn’t come?" Sang Pingliang grimaced and clenched his teeth, "Good! How absolute! I invited Shi Fengju and Miss Wan, what does it have to do with them! They might as well never open their door for life!"
"She’s gone?" The noise outside ceased, and Mrs. Fang, tying her apron, emerged from the kitchen.
Liu Ya couldn’t wait and rushed forward to peek through the door crack, hearing her and turning back to nod towards Mrs. Fang, "She’s gone! Don’t worry, grandma! Hmph, such people, it’s about time someone dealt with her like this!"
"Ah, you girl, at least you have a conscience! You know right from wrong!" Mrs. Fang laughed loudly.
"Of course! I’ve disliked her for a long time!" Liu Ya lifted her head. Mrs. Li used to scold her and Sang Wan fairly often, calling her over to work and even threatening to sell her off, which was enough to terrify her. Having been with Sang Wan for so many years, their bond had grown as close as real sisters; how could she bear to leave?
"Hehe, good girl! Your mistress didn’t cherish you for nothing!" Mrs. Fang laughed again and turned back to the kitchen.
After dinner, everyone sat a while but soon grew tired and went to rest.
Chang Huan and other servants had gone to the town, making it easier to arrange sleeping arrangements for the night.
Considering that someone might visit tomorrow, Shi Ming decided to stay to help fetch things and run errands, ending up sleeping on the floor in Sang Yufei’s room. Given the current situation, certain things were inconvenient for Sang Yufei to handle personally, and even less so for his brother, Sang Hong.
Sang Xiaoquan went to sleep with his father, freeing up his room for Xingzhi and Liu Ya, while Mrs. Fang squeezed in with Mrs. Xu and Sang Xiaonuan; Sang Wan and Shi Fengju slept in the chamber Sang Wan used to occupy at her parental home.
It was one thing for everyone else, but once inside the room and the door closed, Sang Wan realized the problem: one bed, how would they sleep?
She glanced briefly at Shi Fengju; her face turned red immediately.
