Rebirth: Contract Husband Falls in Love with Me
Chapter 355 - 181: You Can’t Speak Recklessly
CHAPTER 355: CHAPTER 181: YOU CAN’T SPEAK RECKLESSLY
The doorman, having waited for quite a while, wasn’t pleased with the outcome but since the person was no longer there, he could do nothing but reluctantly make his way back. Fortunately, the consolation of two taels of silver made it not a total waste of effort!
When Shi Fengju heard Chang Huan report this incident, he couldn’t help but burst out laughing, waved his hand to dismiss him, and felt increasingly delighted as he thought about it.
Such a person deserved to be dealt with like this! Fortunately, big sister was not completely foolish and still knew some limits.
When Sang Wan returned from outside, she saw Shi Fengju looking relaxed and smiling. Sang Wan couldn’t help but feel curious and smiled, asking, "What’s making you so happy? Did a huge gold ingot fall from the sky?"
Shi Fengju laughed and said, "What’s there to be happy about if a gold ingot falls from the sky?"
Sang Wan, realizing her slip of the tongue, nodded and laughed, "Rightly said! For you, young master, it would take a celestial beauty descending from the sky to be worthy of joy!"
Shi Fengju then took her hand and laughed, "What celestial beauty? I have—ahem, everybody leave!" Shi Fengju cut himself off halfway and shooed Liu Ya and the others away.
Seeing they had all left, he simply held Sang Wan in his arms and, caressing her slightly cool cheek, chuckled, "I have you, what do I need a celestial beauty for?" He kissed her cheek twice.
Sang Wan’s face warmed up slightly and she gently pushed him away, speaking softly with a hint of reproof, "Who wants to hear such flattery from you!"
Shi Fengju loved teasing her until her face turned red. Seeing her shy demeanor, he leaned in closer and whispered sweet nothings, speeding up Sang Wan’s heartbeat and causing her to blush and scold coquettishly. He only let her go after laughing, and then shared the matter regarding dealing with Ren Zhixian.
Sang Wan couldn’t help laughing too and sighed lightly, "It’s fortunate brother-in-law only referred to him as ’Lord Ren’ outside and didn’t mention he’s the uncle-in-law. Otherwise, even with this block, there would likely be idle gossip out there!"
The news concerning the affairs of major households is always a delightful topic of discussion. The slightest stir gets blown out of proportion and spreads like wildfire.
Shi Fengju sneered slightly, "Even if he called him uncle-in-law, it would be the same for me! One really wonders how such a person’s heart developed. How have we wronged him in our household? He doesn’t remember any good but instead longs for those false friends who cheated him of his family wealth!"
Sang Wan spoke softly, "There’s nothing that can be done about that! I just feel so sorry for big sister!"
Shi Fengju glanced at her with a smile, "Hmm, that’s odd, considering how much big sister has insulted you and you were annoyed with her, how come you sympathize with her now?"
Sang Wan retorted with a look, "Based on your logic, should I be gleefully shutting my doors and laughing happily? Each matter has its place; I naturally get angry when big sister insults me—that would make me a blockhead if I didn’t! But all women are the same, alas, marrying such a man is really—"
Her eyes dimmed slightly, and she gently shook her head. The greatest fear for any woman is to marry the wrong man, like hers in her past life—she spoke with the most authority on this matter. Now seeing Shi Yumei in this condition, she truly empathized.
Shi Fengju tightened his hold on the woman in his arms and whispered soothingly into her neck, "Don’t think too much, all you need to do is be a good lady of the Shi family, your husband will not let you down."
Sang Wan’s heart warmed, and she instinctively covered his hands that were embracing her, leaning slightly into his embrace. Shi Fengju felt her affection and dependence, joy budding in his heart, and he kissed her earlobe softly, calling her "Miss Wan!"
"Fengju," Sang Wan suddenly said, "There’s something I shouldn’t say, but if you think it’s inappropriate, just forget it!"
"Go ahead, I’m listening," Shi Fengju said with a slight surprise.
After hesitating for a moment, Sang Wan softly spoke, "How productive is it for big sister to keep increasing her worries? It might be better to ask her what she wants and consider a divorce!"
"What!" Shi Fengju jerked, his eyes widening in shock.
"A divorce?" Although he greatly despised Ren Zhixian, from the inside out, he had never thought about letting his sister get a divorce. A divorced woman, even from a major household, faces a lot of hardship, is looked down upon, and generally ends up lonely and may not remarry or live well again.
Sang Wan inwardly cursed her bluntness, but since the words were already out, she continued, "You’ve seen what her husband is like! With such a husband, it’s better to be without one, might as well be alone and face less anger! Big sister still hopes her husband will pass the examinations and become an official one day, but from what I see, it’s better he doesn’t pass. If he does pass someday, given his disposition, big sister’s life will only get harder! With the Shi family’s wealth, big sister may very well remarry into a respectable family; so long as the man is dependable, even being a secondary wife in a household would be much better than her current situation!"
