Rebirth: Contract Husband Falls in Love with Me
Chapter 534 - 273: Shopping
CHAPTER 534: CHAPTER 273: SHOPPING
Awakening in broad daylight, her body still felt languidly weak and devoid of strength. Before she was fully awake, the man beside her embraced her in his arms, and then lightly pressed a kiss on her forehead as he chuckled softly from above her head, "Miss Wan, did you sleep well?"
Sang Wan’s eyes turned slightly hazy as she let out a surprised "Ah" and exclaimed, "What time is it?" The unusually bright light in the room and the warm temperature in the air reminded her that it was surely not early anymore.
Seeing her struggle to get up, Shi Fengju couldn’t help but laugh, restraining her within his arms as he said, "Sleep a little longer, and when you wake up, it’ll be just in time for lunch. My dear wife, we can do as we please while we’re outside, why bother about what others think!"
Sang Wan felt both amused and irritated as she responded, "You’re spoiling me too much; don’t blame me for any wrongdoing when we get back to Qingzhou."
"How could I blame you? If you do anything wrong, I’ll be there to take care of it; I just want you to be happy." Shi Fengju drew closer to her with a teasing smile, "Miss Wan, did you enjoy last night?"
Sang Wan was immediately overwhelmed with shyness, her entire body losing strength as she playfully punched him, saying, "I was actually worried that you’d be worn out from these past few days and wanted to let you rest today, but who knew you, you—"
Shi Fengju caught her hand and gently rubbed it against his face, laughing, "Miss Wan, I am a man, after all!"
Sang Wan gave him a look and thought to herself, if you weren’t a man, could I have married you?
However, Shi Fengju laughed again, "What nonsense am I talking about? Whether I am a man or not, my Miss Wan surely knows better than anyone!"
"The more you talk, the more indecent you become!" Overcome with embarrassment, Sang Wan hid in his arms. This man seemed so respectable usually, but his flirty words could outdo anyone’s! Where on earth had he learned them? It must be the case; what hasn’t he come across? He probably has heard even racier things, and what he says to her must surely be filtered!
Shi Fengju laughed heartily, holding her delicate body tightly in his embrace. As his fingers touched her smooth skin, a light, sweet fragrance lingered, and he nearly lost control, on the verge of pinning her down once again.
After some playful banter, they both got up, and indeed, it was already midday. After cleaning up and having lunch, they spent half the day entertaining themselves in the garden. The only interruption was the housekeeper coming over with a long face to ask for instructions, saying that the second young master was requesting the presence of the big young madam for a chat.
The housekeeper hadn’t finished speaking when Shi Fengju, with a stern look on his face, scared him into swallowing the rest of his words and turned to Sang Wan with a pitiful gaze.
Before Sang Wan could speak, Shi Fengju sent him away, "If he’s bored and wants someone to chat with, then he can find someone else for company! Miss Wan is his elder sister-in-law; he should show some restraint!"
This remark seemed to hint at something else, causing the housekeeper to feel a mix of shock and bewilderment. But before he had time to ponder any further, he was frightened by Shi Fengju’s stern "Get going!" and hastily retreated.
In the evening, Shi Fengju took Sang Wan out in the carriage, and after having dinner at the Yanyu Tower by the West Lake, they went for a stroll around Hangzhou City. Rich above all other cities, Hangzhou at night was lit up everywhere, with shops full of dazzling goods and just as bustling as during the day.
Here, you could find everything imaginable, especially famous for its luxurious brocades, gold and silver jewelry, cosmetics like rouge and powders, and antique furnishings. The latest fashions and rare, valuable items not seen or bought elsewhere could all be found here.
Alighting from the carriage, Sang Wan donned a light veil bamboo hat and walked hand in hand with Shi Fengju, uttering praises at every step.
Shi Fengju led her down a street lined with high-end stores; it wasn’t too crowded, yet everything sold there was exquisite.
Shi Fengju wanted to pull her into a prestigious-looking jewelry shop, but Sang Wan laughed and said, "You’ve given me so much jewelry I can’t even wear it all; what’s the point in buying more? Let’s look around some other places instead!"
Shi Fengju laughed, "Let’s take a look inside first. We’ve come out, we should buy something for home. You can pick out a set for mother and for the second and third sisters-in-law! Later, I’ll take you to a store opened by a Westerner. They have all sorts of novelty Western items, I think you’ll find something you like!"
Hearing him say this, Sang Wan had no choice but to smile in agreement, and they entered together.
Those who entered this shop were not ordinary people. The shopkeeper and clerks all had sharp eyes for their customers. While their clothing wasn’t extremely lavish, the shopkeeper immediately spotted the hairpin on Sang Wan’s head, which had a magnolia flower made of white jade halfway in bloom, and hurriedly welcomed them with a smile.
"Madam, this Shangpin Building is a well-known century-old shop in Hangzhou City, offering the finest goods of the moment. Take a look and see if there’s anything you like?" Shi Fengju said with a smile, whispering to her, "Miss Wan, it seems like I haven’t accompanied you to buy jewelry together yet, pick a few pieces you like."
