Rebirth: Divorcing the Billionaire
Chapter 141: Someone is Courting Death
CHAPTER 141: CHAPTER 141: SOMEONE IS COURTING DEATH
"But you shouldn’t joke about the Haohan Group! You know it’s the lifeblood of generations of the Si Family! You truly disappoint me!"
Si Yuhuan’s eyes blazed with intense fury.
Jian Xi, overwhelmed with a bellyful of grievances, could only swallow her bitterness.
"Then when have you ever given me hope!"
"Si Yuhuan, I have my pride as the young Miss of the Jian Family. I never thought about competing with Jiang Qimeng for a man!"
"When I fell in love with you, she wasn’t there!"
"To make her happy, how did you humiliate and torture me? Have you forgotten it all?"
Jian Xi stepped closer to Si Yuhuan, fiercely poking his chest with her slender fingers.
"Getting married wasn’t just my idea. It was Grandfather who said I was suitable for the position of Mrs. Si. He said marrying you was his wish."
Back then, she had used the entire Jian Group as her dowry to prop up the teetering Haohan Group.
From beginning to end, Si Yuhuan never acknowledged any of her good deeds.
Thinking about the foolish things she’d done these past few days, Jian Xi wished she could kill her pathetic, good-for-nothing self.
Wasn’t dying once not enough!
With reddened eyes, she let out a shrill, sorrowful laugh.
"You, step by step, killed the Jian Xi who married you full of joy. The one standing before you now is a Jian Xi who doesn’t love you, who hates you, a Jian Xi who would stop at nothing to make you get out of her sight forever!"
Si Yuhuan’s pupils quivered as he stared intently at the frenzied woman before him, as if he couldn’t believe his eyes.
Upstairs, Wan Yu was so anxious she stomped her foot. Jian Xi has truly gone mad!
How dare she speak to Si Yuhuan like that! Isn’t she afraid he’ll fly into a rage?
Just as Wan Yu hesitated, wondering if she should rush down, she heard Jian Xi say,
"Si Yuhuan, divorce is inevitable between us. Let’s get it over with. It’ll be easier for you, and I’ll be more at peace. The days I spent with you were the darkest moments of my life. If I were given another chance, I would hope I’d never met you."
"I’m really tired."
Her voice was very faint, light as a feather, and soft, without a trace of emotion.
This suddenly made Wan Yu, upstairs, recall a saying: the deepest pain is a heart that has died.
Si Yuhuan clenched his fists. He concealed the complex emotions in his eyes, then lowered his proud head, took out a pen, and signed his name on the document.
He pressed down with extreme force on every single character he wrote.
"There. As you wished."
She had dictated both the beginning and the end.
Si Yuhuan felt as if his heart had split open an inch.
There was a time when Jian Xi was the person he despised most. Seeing her reminded him of his own humiliating past; the Haohan Group’s current standing was achieved through his ridiculous marriage. The renowned richest man had only managed to turn his fortunes around because of a woman. He had promised Jiang Qimeng, his life-savior, that he would marry her, but he hadn’t fulfilled that promise. All of this, every single thing, made him loathe Jian Xi beyond measure. Yet, after actually living with her, he didn’t know when he had fallen in love. He had wanted to disregard everything and keep her firmly in his grasp, only to discover she only wanted to escape.
Tossing aside the divorce papers, Si Yuhuan left with all his bodyguards in a grand, sweeping exit.
His proud back remained as unyielding as ever.
Jian Xi took a step back, her stomach twinging with pain. Could it be that even the babies were sensing their father’s departure?
This time, she was truly divorced. She was truly saying goodbye to the man she had loved for eight long years.
Past memories flashed through her mind like a swift shadow, making her head spin.
"Xixi!" Wan Yu rushed over to support her.
Jian Xi turned to her, a radiant smile spreading across her face. "I’m finally divorced. It feels wonderful."
Wan Yu dissolved into tears. I’m so stupid! Why did I do such a thing? If I hadn’t done something so unnecessary, just wanting to teach someone a lesson, would Jian Xi have been pushed to divorce like this? I’ll never forgive myself in this lifetime for being so stupid!
Jian Xi wiped away her tears.
"Don’t cry. This might have nothing to do with you."
"What?" Wan Yu was stunned.
Jian Xi spoke slowly, "The public outcry was building, but it shouldn’t have been enough to threaten the Haohan Group, not unless someone was fanning the flames, specifically targeting Si Yuhuan."
"I swear I didn’t! Even if you gave me ten times the nerve, I wouldn’t dare go against Si Yuhuan! I just wanted to teach that vile woman Jiang Qimeng a lesson."
Wan Yu suddenly understood. "You mean, someone used my actions to go after the Haohan Group and Si Yuhuan? And even forced you to divorce..."
She was completely bewildered.
Jian Xi nodded. "That appears to be the case."
She, too, had only pieced these things together after Si Yuhuan had left.
But now, none of that mattered.
She caressed her stomach. "I must gain control of the Haohan Group as quickly as possible. I can’t give Si Yuhuan any chance to retaliate. Otherwise, knowing his personality, he’ll fight me for custody of the children."
"That’s incredibly bold!" Wan Yu was filled with utter admiration.
