Rebirth: Divorcing the Billionaire
Chapter 249 - 247 Revealing True Colors
CHAPTER 249: CHAPTER 247 REVEALING TRUE COLORS
Jian Xi supported Si Yuhuan’s tall and stalwart figure in her arms as she fed him medicine.
The man was so heavy; she felt like she was about to be crushed.
Anxious, angry, and impatient, she snapped, "Hey! Don’t you have any strength left? Can’t you drink this yourself?"
She’d been taking care of him for five days with no sign of improvement. She was genuinely starting to worry her prediction would come true and he might actually die.
Si Yuhuan sagged against her. "I feel terrible. If you don’t want to take care of me, you could find a caregiver."
"Forget it. I’m afraid you’ve offended too many people. They might get someone to kill you."
Jian Xi couldn’t figure out why the caregivers and nurses seemed to be targeting Si Yuhuan.
It was inevitable; someone he had offended must have bribed them. The fact they hadn’t killed him already was an extraordinary act of mercy.
"Then I’ll take another sip."
"So troublesome!"
Jian Xi carefully supported his shoulders, feeding him meticulously.
Si Yuhuan watched her long eyelashes flutter like fans—breathtakingly beautiful. He couldn’t resist kissing her forehead.
The electric sensation made Jian Xi accidentally spill the broth on Si Yuhuan’s chest.
"What are you doing?!"
Jian Xi unbuttoned his shirt and wiped his firm chest muscles with a tissue.
CREAK!
The main door opened.
Jiang Qimeng entered to see them intimately close, practically glued to each other.
"Jian Xi, have you no shame?!"
Jiang Qimeng was seething.
"In broad daylight, you’re already so eager to do... *that*. Are you that desperate and lonely?"
Jian Xi scoffed. "What we do is none of your business."
Instead of pushing Si Yuhuan away, she pulled him even closer.
A ghost of a smile played on Si Yuhuan’s handsome, shadowed face as he leaned closer to Jian Xi.
Jiang Qimeng was beside herself. "Let go of him!"
"He’s not your man, so what’s it to you? You want me to let go? I’ll just hold him tighter. How about that?"
As if to deliberately provoke Jiang Qimeng, Jian Xi hugged Si Yuhuan even tighter and planted a kiss on him.
The man in her arms stiffened in surprise.
"Jian Xi, you’re shameless!"
"Thanks for the compliment. I can be even more shameless, you know. Want to stay and watch?" Jian Xi taunted, determined to infuriate Jiang Qimeng.
Jiang Qimeng reached for Si Yuhuan. "Yuhan, are you just going to let her toy with you?"
"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH—" Si Yuhuan couldn’t stop coughing.
Jiang Qimeng frowned. "Is he really that sick?"
"Oh, yes! He’s gravely ill, on the verge of death. As it happens, I’m quite busy. Why don’t you take care of him, Miss Jiang? It’s strange, aren’t you the one who supposedly loves Si Yuhuan the most? How come now that he’s destitute, you’re nowhere to be found? Jiang Qimeng, your love is so superficial, isn’t it?"
Her true intentions exposed, Jiang Qimeng flushed, utterly humiliated.
She abruptly remembered she was here to see if Si Yuhuan was truly dying, not to fight over him with this woman!
"Does Si Junyan know you’re here? If he found out you were tangling with Si Yuhuan, would he be so angry he’d dump you?"
Jian Xi struck a nerve.
Jiang Qimeng was rendered speechless, stammering, "You... you..."
She stammered for a long moment, unable to form a coherent sentence.
Jian Xi pinched Si Yuhuan’s chin, looking down at him—just as he used to look down on her—and sighed. "See? This is when you find out who your true friends are. That woman who claimed to love you to death now finds you repulsive because you’re sick and broke."
"I did not!" Jiang Qimeng panicked.
Jian Xi laughed. "As I recall, you were with Si Yuhuan for about ten years. He spent a fortune on you, didn’t he? Over a hundred billion, I’d say. Surely you have a few hundred million to spare? Just toss him a hundred million; he could live quite comfortably on that!"
"I don’t have any money!" Jiang Qimeng retorted immediately.
She glared venomously at Jian Xi. "Stop trying to sow discord!"
Tears welling in her eyes, Jiang Qimeng turned to Si Yuhuan. "Yuhan, ever since you cut ties with me and said you never wanted to see me again, I’ve had no source of income. You know Jian Xi ruined my reputation; I can’t be an actress anymore. I really don’t have any money."
"Hear that?" Jian Xi interjected. "She’s saying she’s broke, has no money, and it’s all your fault. So now she won’t give you a dime. She’s blaming you!"
"Jian Xi, no one will think you’re mute if you just shut up!"
Jiang Qimeng’s eyes blazed with a hatred so intense it seemed she could spit fire.
She confirmed that Si Yuhuan was indeed bedridden, needing help with even basic necessities.
A flicker of disgust crossed her eyes.
She lifted her chin defiantly, deciding to lay all her cards on the table. "Si Yuhuan, don’t blame me. You’re the one who made things so final! Since you gave up on me and chose Jian Xi, it’s only right that she takes care of you now. You’re the one who said, ’Let’s go our separate ways.’"
Her true colors were finally showing.
Looking at Si Yuhuan’s pale, handsome face, now devoid of its usual noble and commanding aura, she sneered. "It does you no good to oppose Junyan. If you really want your old life back, hand over your shares quickly. Perhaps, for the sake of being cousins, he’ll give you a way out."
"Yuhan, you should understand the principle of not letting fertile water flow into others’ fields. I’ve said my piece. Think about it."
With that, she stalked out, nose in the air.
"PAH!"
Jian Xi didn’t even deign to look at such a woman.
She’d expected Si Yuhuan to be devastated by those words and had even prepared some taunts, but his expression didn’t change one bit.
Is he so heartbroken his expression has frozen?
Si Yuhuan glanced up at Jian Xi as if she were an idiot. "Do I look that easy to crush?"
"Weren’t you deeply in love with her?"
Jian Xi pushed Si Yuhuan away and smoothed her wrinkled clothes.
She felt he really wasn’t worth it.
"Did I ever tell you I loved her that much?"
That statement... He really hadn’t ever said it himself.
"You may not have said it, but your actions spoke louder than words!"
Si Yuhuan might never have said he loved Jiang Qimeng, but his every action had screamed it. For countless days and nights, if Jiang Qimeng so much as uttered a word, he would instantly appear before her, shielding her from every storm. He was even willing to divorce his wife for her. He promised to marry her, to give her the honor of being Mrs. Si! He established company after company for her, even leveraging Haohan Group to boost her profits, parading her before the world like a cherished jewel. He practically shouted from the rooftops that Jiang Qimeng was the treasure of his heart.
Si Yuhuan’s face burned; he wished the earth would swallow him whole.
He touched his nose awkwardly. "I really never loved her."
Jian Xi was unmoved by his explanation, scoffing disdainfully, "HUMPH."
Si Yuhuan sighed. "Jian Xi, Jiang Qimeng did me a kindness once. I treated her well because..."
"I don’t want to hear why you were good to her, nor do I want to rehash the details of your devotion. I just want to tell you, Si Yuhuan, you were blind as a bat! This is your karma. Go to hell!"
She punched him in a soft spot, and Si Yuhuan curled up like a shrimp in pain.
Yan Qing walked in to see his boss being pitifully beaten. Completely devoid of sympathy, he just wanted to laugh. Serves him right! The Madam should have done this ages ago!
