Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time
Chapter 207: Seizure
CHAPTER 207: CHAPTER 207: SEIZURE
Old Sir Zhong took out a stack of documents, and then tossed the file bag onto the table next to him.
At the very top of the stack was a five-inch color photograph, a picture of Wan Chu’er herself. In the photo, Wan Chu’er sat upright, engrossed in reading, her entire focus seemingly on the book in her hands.
Looking at the surrounding environment, it seemed to have been sneakily taken in a library.
Old Sir Zhong snorted and set the photo aside, then looked up at Li Shan.
"Don’t do this again in the future!"
Li Shan quickly responded, "Xiao Hui is also worried about you. When you are like this, it makes us very uneasy."
Old Sir Zhong snorted again, motioning for reading glasses. Li Shan promptly walked over to the bookshelf, took the reading glasses from the top, and handed them to Old Sir Zhong with both hands.
Old Sir Zhong put on the reading glasses and started to carefully look through the documents underneath.
Wutong County, S Province.
These words appeared in Old Sir Zhong’s vision without warning, causing his hand to shake.
What a coincidence, Wan Chu’er also came from Wutong County.
After a moment, Old Sir Zhong’s eyes, seemingly scorched by the words "Wutong County," appeared somewhat distracted as he shifted his gaze and continued reading downwards.
He needed to look at these documents because of what Zheng Yun had said earlier; he wanted to find out what the "immoral conduct" of Wan Chu’er was all about. If it was really Zheng Yun sabotaging behind the scenes, he had to give an explanation to Wan Chu’er.
After all, he had met the child a few times, and they got along well, plus she was an orphan, just like this old man—a lone person without family.
Li Shan stood by, watching Old Sir Zhong intently.
"Whoosh—"
Suddenly, he saw Old Sir Zhong’s documents scatter all over the floor. With a panicked expression, Old Sir Zhong extended his hand as if he wanted to pick up one of the papers, but almost tumbled with a stumble.
Li Shan was startled and quickly stepped forward to support Old Sir Zhong, "Old Sir, let me pick them up for you. Please, take a seat."
Old Sir Zhong’s complexion was a bit off. He pushed away Li Shan’s supporting hand, extended a trembling finger, and pointed at a paper on the ground, "That one, that one, pick that up for me."
Li Shan hurriedly picked up the paper and gave it to Old Sir Zhong, then went on to collect the other papers on the floor.
Old Sir Zhong’s hands were slightly shaking, his expression appeared somewhat frantic, as if he feared something, yet he kept forcing himself to look at the contents of the paper.
Maternal grandmother: Shen Zhenzhu, deceased in the year 1980.
Her name was also Zhenzhu, could it be the same person? Old Sir Zhong thought anxiously, could it really be the same person?
Impossible!
She said she would live until eighty, she would grow old with her husband in a peaceful and happy life!
Old Sir Zhong’s hand clenched tightly, crumpling the paper into a cloth-like mess.
He closed his eyes, his neck veins tense.
Everything that was happening made Li Shan deeply concerned. What happened to the Old Sir? Was there something wrong with Wan Chu’er’s documents?
"Old Sir, what’s wrong with you? Maybe you should rest for a bit?"
The eyes of Old Sir Zhong, tightly shut, were brought back by the concerned voice of Li Shan. He loosened his fingers, calmed his emotions, and then said, "Go get me a glass of water and bring me the Instant Heart Rescue Pills."
"Do you have discomfort in your heart? Should I call Doctor Gao?" Li Shan grew even more anxious upon hearing this.
Old Sir Zhong shook his head, his complexion finally looking a bit better, and insisted, "Don’t worry, I’m fine, just do as I say."
Li Shan confirmed several times that the Old Sir was truly alright before hurrying out to find water and medicine, all the while thinking: if there was anything else wrong with the Old Sir, he would definitely call Xiao Hui, who often had better ideas than him.
After taking a pill and a few sips of water, Old Sir Zhong once again picked up the paper he had crumpled, which was about Wan Chu’er’s family background.
Yan Hui had conducted a thorough investigation, uncovering the past three generations of ancestry.
Maternal grandfather: Bai Shiguang, passed away in 1992.
His heart contracted again; he remembered that her husband was indeed surnamed Bai.
He feared they might really be the same person.
She had actually passed away twenty years ago, and her husband had also died seven years ago, yet he had no idea and had thought that she must now be surrounded by grandchildren.
Unexpectedly, she had passed away, and so early at that!
She never lived to be eighty, nor did she grow old with her husband.
She had deceived him!
Or was it because of the evil he had done that she died young?
Despite everything, he was still scrounging by, alive to this day.
Old Sir Zhong felt a sudden pain in his heart, his brow deeply furrowed, a look of agony on his face.
Li Shan dared not hesitate any longer, quickly helping Old Sir Zhong to lie down on the adjacent bed.
"You must listen to me, Old Sir; you must rest in bed!"
Old Sir Zhong merely closed his eyes tightly, allowing Li Shan to take charge. After helping Old Sir Zhong into a proper lying position, Li Shan immediately called Doctor Gao, who was usually in charge of Old Sir Zhong’s health, and then he also called Yan Hui.
After making the calls, Li Shan held Old Sir Zhong’s hands tightly with both of his own, incessantly murmuring into the old man’s ear.
Five minutes later, the sound of a car screeching to a stop came from outside.
Li Shan hurried out, only to see Doctor Gao get out of his car in a hurry, medical kit in tow. Doctor Gao, with a grave expression, asked, "What’s the matter?"
Before Li Shan could explain, Yan Hui’s car returned, and Yan Hui also exited the car hastily.
"What happened? Wasn’t Old Sir Zhong fine just now?"
Li Shan said, "Old Sir Zhong looked at the information you provided and suddenly felt unwell. I don’t know what happened. Is there something in that information?"
Upon hearing this, Yan Hui was immediately bewildered. He had reviewed the information, and there was nothing particularly unusual about it.
The three of them rushed inside, and upon hearing the commotion, Aunt Zheng and her daughter also came out. When they saw Doctor Gao and the returning Yan Hui, their faces changed.
"What’s going on? Did something happen to Grandpa Zhong?" Zheng Yun asked.
Li Shan ignored her, leading Doctor Gao to Old Sir Zhong’s room instead.
Aunt Zheng wore a look of shock and quickly followed, with Zheng Yun also hastily trailing behind.
Upon entering the room, everyone rushed to the bedside.
Old Sir Zhong’s eyes remained shut, one hand clenched into a fist at his chest, a clear sign of his suffering to anyone who saw him.
Doctor Gao quickly took out his tools for examination, and after a thorough check, he injected Old Sir Zhong with a sedative, followed by an IV drip. Then Doctor Gao began to slowly massage certain acupoints on Old Sir Zhong’s body.
Everyone watched Doctor Gao’s movements tension, not daring to make a noise that might disturb him.
Zheng Yun’s gaze swept over the items on the desk: a stack of documents, the top sheet crumpled, along with a bottle of Instant Heart Rescue Pills, and a pair of reading glasses.
Was Old Sir Zhong looking at these just now? She walked over quietly and saw a line written on the top: Wan Chu’er’s family relations.
Why was it about Wan Chu’er?
She was surprised and wondered if Old Sir Zhong’s medical episode was related to this. She was about to examine it more closely when a large hand appeared in front of her and took the documents away.
She looked up to see Li Shan with a wooden expression, placing the documents into a folder at the side, saying, "Doctor Gao has asked everyone to leave; Old Sir Zhong needs quiet rest."
