Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time
Chapter 346 - 345: The Stone in Her Heart
CHAPTER 346: CHAPTER 345: THE STONE IN HER HEART
Graduation photoshoots are always bustling and sentimental.
The usually familiar and unfamiliar classmates all let loose, for after today everyone will go their separate ways, and who knows when we’ll see each other again.
So everyone became unrestrained, lots of students came over to take commemorative photos with Wan Chu’er, and there were even a few boys who found the rare courage to confess their love for Wan Chu’er in front of everyone.
"Wan Chu’er, before I leave, I want to tell you, you’re the goddess of my dreams, you have been for all four years of college."
"Wan Chu’er, can I hug you? I want to say farewell to my youth."
"I love you, Wan Chu’er."
...
Wan Chu’er was a mix of laughter and tears; she wasn’t a rigid person, after all, they were classmates who had shared a classroom for four years, and in her eyes, these lads were quite adorable.
Thus, she responded to them generously.
"Hope you won’t dream about me anymore, I’m scared your future girlfriend will come after me."
"Sure, wish you a bright future."
"Sorry, I don’t love you, but I still wish you smooth sailing."
...
Her generosity and amiability earned her even more popularity, with quite a few boys excitedly saying:
"If you need anything in the future, just a phone call, and I’ll run errands for you."
"Wan Chu’er, if your boyfriend ever treats you badly, remember me."
...
Mrs. Jiang was momentarily dumbstruck: "..." Was this happening right in front of her, someone trying to steal her daughter-in-law?
Watching her mother about to go over and assert her son’s rights, Jiang Xiaoxiao, holding back her laughter, quickly grabbed her mother,
"Mom, don’t worry, your daughter-in-law won’t fly away. You have to understand everyone; it’s just the hormones acting up, they’ll all forget about today after tomorrow."
Mrs. Jiang managed to utter after a while: "Don’t tell your brother."
After graduation, Wan Chu’er and Mai Qiqi saw off Lin Yufei at the airport. During the farewell, Lin Yufei, unusally, cried a flood of tears, holding tightly onto Wan Chu’er and Mai Qiqi without letting go for quite a while.
The tickets for the flight heading south were a farewell gift from Wan Chu’er and Mai Qiqi.
Mai Qiqi grumbled: "If I’d known you were going to cry, I definitely would have brought my camera; seeing our tomboy Yu Fei cry is not an easy sight." This made Lin Yufei smile through her tears, and she punched Mai Qiqi lightly.
As they watched Lin Yufei pass through the security check, Mai Qiqi’s eyes reddened. She said to Wan Chu’er: "I hate farewells the most, I only like reunions, not goodbyes."
Wan Chu’er: "When you and An Zihao leave, I definitely won’t send you off; if you two come back, then let me know to pick you up."
Mai Qiqi nodded vigorously and said: "An Zihao and I will leave Beijing tomorrow to travel the world, and then go directly to school."
Wan Chu’er immediately turned to look at her, those two were truly blessed.
After graduation, Wan Chu’er rested at home for two days, wanting to go to the company for a formal day of work, but Mrs. Jiang caught her to start selecting various wedding items.
From the attire for the wedding day to the arrangements for the wedding room, everything needed to be chosen. Since Jiang Kechu was not around, Wan Chu’er couldn’t escape these tasks and had to run around with Mrs. Jiang every day, so busy that her feet barely touched the ground, and she had no time to go to the company.
Xiao Bai didn’t urge her, just told her to prepare for the wedding properly, even saying to pick out a big wedding gift that he would send at that time.
Their bridal suite was in a mid-to-high-end villa district in the West District, where the villa had been renovated quite some time ago. However, all the furniture and items inside needed to be newly purchased and arranged.
After a busy month, everything was finally settled.
Mrs. Jiang let her off the hook, smiling and instructing, "Xiao Chu, you don’t need to worry about the rest, just rest well for this month, and get ready to be the bride."
That night, Wan Chu’er slept so soundly she only woke up the next day when the sun was high in the sky.
Suddenly finding herself at a loose end, not having to meet with the fashion designer to pick out things anymore, Wan Chu’er felt a bit lost. She stared at the pristine white ceiling and lazed in bed.
Even though she had been busy for a month, Wan Chu’er felt not the slightest excitement about getting married. Was it because they’ve been like an old couple?
She felt as if there was a rock obstructing her heart, a matter persisting atop her mind, reminding her to act.
It seemed that unless she dealt with it, the stone would not budge and she wouldn’t be able to happily await her wedding day like other brides.
She was restless and oppressed.
"Ring, ring, ring..."
Her thoughts scattering, the phone rang. She picked up the cell phone and saw it was Brother Lishan’s number. She had not stayed in the family’s old house lately to be more agile in her errands.
"Hello, Brother Lishan."
"The old man wants you to find time to come back in the next couple of days." Lishan’s voice was even, without any ups or downs.
Wan Chu’er asked, "How’s grandpa? Is he in good health?"
Lishan: "He’s quite well."
After hanging up, Wan Chu’er lay in bed a little longer, then got up, washed, and tidied up. After a quick meal, she drove to the old family home.
The elder was taken aback when he saw Wan Chu’er and asked, "Are you very tired?" The child looked exhausted.
Wan Chu’er was startled, then said, "It’s fine, not tired. I’ve just been busy for a month, and I don’t need to do anything after this. Grandpa, did you call me back for something?"
The elder thought for a moment and still told Lishan to let Mrs. Zhu make some delicious food for today.
"Since you’re free now, move back here and let Mrs. Zhu nurture you properly."
Wan Chu’er agreed in a scattered manner.
The elder then asked, "For the wedding, would you like it grand or simple? If it’s grand, we’ll send out some invitations. I still have a few old friends around, let them come to see my granddaughter’s wedding. It will also give the Jiang Family a glimpse."
The friends of the elder were no simple folk. If the wedding invitations were sent out, it would likely bring all the influential figures in Beijing, stirring quite the commotion.
Speaking of showing the Jiang Family, it was an intimidation for Chu’er, in case she was wronged by the Jiang relatives.
Wan Chu’er’s heart was tinged with bitterness at once. She sat down beside her grandfather, wrapped her arms around his arm, and resting her head on his shoulder, she whispered,
"Grandpa, let’s keep it simple. If you want to see your old friends, I’ll accompany you later.
The Jiang Family has been good to me. Those irrelevant people are not worth the bother; I have Jiang Kechu."
Perhaps affected by Wan Chu’er’s solemnity, the elder also felt unsettled. He patted his granddaughter’s arm.
After a long while, he said, "If there’s something you want to do, go ahead and do it."
Wan Chu’er’s tears almost fell, "Grandpa, I want to go to H country, take a look over there."
The elder seemed to have anticipated her decision, "... let Xiao Hui accompany you. I can’t rest easy with you going alone."
After thinking for a while, Wan Chu’er nodded in agreement, just to reassure her caring grandfather.
