Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets
Chapter 390: That’s Way Too Remote (Second Update)
CHAPTER 390: CHAPTER 390: THAT’S WAY TOO REMOTE (SECOND UPDATE)
Zhu Yuanchao didn’t talk much, just buried his head and ate. But seeing that he had three bowls of rice and a pile of fish bones in front of him, it was clear that Tang Yue’s cooking was pretty good.
"My dad’s cooking skills are much better than mine," Tang Yue replied, adding, "Uncle Mingli, how come little aunt didn’t come along with you?"
"We’re not here for fun this time; the main purpose is to buy land. Once we purchase the land, I’ll rent a house and settle down before bringing them over," Tang Mingli said after gulping down a big spoonful of soup. "You see, we brought so much stuff this time. It would be too hard for Jiajia to handle all this by herself along with the kids."
Tang Yue: ...
Uncle Mingli really considered the details. Indeed, this rushed trip would mean Jiajia, if she had come, would only be able to walk around nearby with the kids.
In the afternoon, Tang Yue arranged for them to take a nap. They surely didn’t sleep well on the train.
After eating, Tang Mingli started to chat with Wei Jiajia on the phone.
As Tang Yue was washing dishes in the kitchen and preparing to start her design sketches, she couldn’t help but get goosebumps overhearing Tang Mingli and Wei Jiajia’s conversation. Uncle Mingli had been married for two or three years, yet he still acted like a newlywed. Even after Jiajia had a child, their affection for each other seemed undiminished.
Fortunately, Tang Mingli knew that phone calls cost money. He only discussed the essential matters before hanging up reluctantly.
"Xiao Yue, why are you looking at me like that?" Tang Mingli touched his face and asked, "Is there something on my face?"
"No flowers, but Uncle, little aunt is really lucky to have married you," Tang Yue thought about how Qi Yufei once looked down on Tang Mingli with such arrogance. Now, in Wangjiang County, Tang Mingli is quite an influential figure, and he treats his wife and children with utmost devotion and patience.
He’s the embodiment of a good man. I wonder whether Qi Yufei ever regretted her attitude.
"I’m the lucky one to have married your little aunt," Tang Mingli said blissfully. "When I had nothing, she was with me through the tough times."
Tang Yue kept silent; she shouldn’t have brought up this topic with Tang Mingli.
After asking Tang Yue again about visiting the land tomorrow, Tang Mingli, yawning, went to rest. He hadn’t slept well on the train the night before, and during this trip to Jing City, he had brought a deposit book worth four hundred thousand. If he lost it, he would be devastated.
Despite hiding the deposit book well, Tang Mingli was unable to sleep soundly.
Night.
Not only did Qin Anyu return, but Bai Qing, who hadn’t been seen for a few days, also came back.
Tang Yue introduced Qin Anyu, although Bai Qing didn’t need any introduction. Having stayed in Wangjiang County for several days, Bai Qing was already quite familiar with the Tang Family.
Upon seeing Tang Mingli, Qin Anyu had endless things to discuss with him – both were designers for Tang Yue’s designs.
Qin Anyu often pestered Tang Yue to give her more design drafts in daily life. When these two met, there was a full charge of tension in the air.
When Tang Yue was in the kitchen, she genuinely worried they might start arguing. But to her surprise, during the meal, she found them getting along quite harmoniously.
"Bai Qing, they really didn’t end up fighting?" Tang Yue couldn’t help but ask Bai Qing beside her. Was it possible that they had fought when she wasn’t around?
"No," Bai Qing took a deep look at her and said: "Xiao Yue, with you as the mediator, they won’t come to blows."
When a fight or an argument breaks out, the one who gets hurt is Tang Yue’s heart.
Tang Mingli, protecting his niece, naturally cannot bear to see Tang Yue upset.
Qin Anyu treats Tang Yue like a younger sister, protectively, and is even less willing to see Tang Yue hurt.
Both of them are smart people, so they started discussing the matters of setting up a Jing City branch factory.
Qin Anyu wants to build a new factory, and so does Tang Mingli, so both of them have endless topics to talk about. Qin Anyu shared the organized information with Tang Mingli, including several pieces of land for sale, among which is Qin Anyu’s chosen location for factory construction, also available for sale but at a high price.
Land a bit more remote is much cheaper by comparison.
Tang Mingli scrutinized the information about the land carefully and did not make any hasty decisions, just waiting for Tang Yue’s review before deciding.
In making such a significant decision, Tang Mingli still prefers to let Tang Yue take charge.
Qin Anyu naturally noticed this as well, feeling a bit surprised, but not too shocked, as Tang Yue’s intelligence also surprised her quite a bit.
The next day, early in the morning, they all set out.
First, they visited the land Qin Anyu bought. It wasn’t huge, but was more than enough to build a clothing factory. Beside it was an empty plot slightly smaller than Qin Anyu’s, but also very expensive.
"Let’s go see other places," Tang Yue decided in an instant.
With limited funds on hand, how to maximize the use of the land is Tang Yue’s current concern. As for more remote places, they seem out of the way now, but in the future, they may not be at all.
The site Qin Anyu chose for the factory is sufficient for just the Star Bright factory.
But Tang Mingli’s factory is different.
Their clothing factory isn’t just a clothing factory; in the future, it could also be a bag factory or may include other elements.
The bag factory, within Mingyue Clothing Factory, has seen decent products made by people Tang Mingli recruited. Although not as mass-produced as clothes, there’s definitely a market for them in the future.
Tang Yue and Tang Mingli discussed it. It’s okay if it’s a bit remote, as long as the land bought is broad enough.
With this in mind, Qin Anyu directly took them to the most out-of-the-way piece of land. Around it were very few houses, some withered grass, and fields. Tang Mingli took one look at it and felt cold, saying, "Xiao Yue, this is too remote, isn’t it?"
"Sister An Yu, is there going to be a highway built nearby soon?" Tang Yue asked.
Qin Anyu wasn’t very sure, she said, "I heard they are going to build one, but I don’t know when."
"Uncle, look, it’s just an hour’s drive from here to South District. Once you reach South District, the roads get much wider, and it doesn’t seem remote, right?" Tang Yue tried to compare it with her knowledge of the future, but she was not familiar with Jing City and wasn’t quite sure what this place would be like in the years to come.
"It’s still a two-hour drive from South District to Jing City," Tang Mingli felt deeply unsatisfied with this plot of land. Though spacious enough, larger than Qin Anyu’s by more than double, and more than half the price of Qin Anyu’s, it was also more than twice as remote!
"We are a clothing factory; customers will drive here to pick up goods, not walk, right?" Tang Yue replied, "Uncle, this place is big. We can build a clothing factory, a bag factory, a warehouse, and we’ll have spare land for staff dormitories. There’s also an empty plot of land over there."
