CHAPTER 337: 337 WITH NEW EYES

Finally, she leaned against the bed for a good while, then groped her way out of the room. She saw a bowl of dog meat on the stove, grabbed it without hesitation, and left.

After returning home, she felt too tired and immediately crawled into bed.

She was awakened by knocking on the door. She frowned, feeling a severe headache.

Yet she still got up, as the knocking outside continued relentlessly.

"Who is it?" She was startled by her own hoarse voice.

"Meng Lin, Meng Lin, open the door."

"Get lost, I don’t want to see you now."

"No, Meng Lin, let me see you. What happened yesterday? I can’t remember."

"Just go away," Kong Menglin said stiffly as she returned to her room.

She lay on the bed listening to the knocking at the door outside.

"Meng Lin, I brought the dog meat for you, and the leftover peanuts and eggs from yesterday. If you don’t want to see me, come out and get them yourself. I left them at the door."

Wang Dajiang shouted outside, causing the neighbors to come out and watch.

Upon hearing he brought her food, Kong Menglin started to feel hungry.

She got up, wobbled to the door, and opened it.

She saw many people outside and glared at Wang Dajiang.

Then she turned back into the yard. Wang Dajiang wanted this effect, so he smiled at everyone, then walked into the yard with the bowl and closed the door behind him.

"Meng Lin, it’s already after nine. I’ll cook for you."

Kong Menglin ignored him, returning to her room and went back to bed.

Looking at the other bowl of dog meat on the stove, Wang Dajiang felt even more disdain for Kong Menglin.

Twenty minutes later, Wang Dajiang entered the room, seeing Kong Menglin lying on the bed, "Meal’s ready."

But there was no response from the person on the bed. He sneered and reached out to help her up. "Meng Lin, time to eat."

"Don’t touch me. I can get up by myself."

"Alright, alright, I won’t touch you, you touch me."

After hearing this, Kong Menglin remembered she was the one who wanted him to undress yesterday.

Wang Dajiang had prepared two stuffed steamed buns. He even cut them open and stuffed in eggs, and the dog meat was reheated too.

It was already after ten by the time they finished eating. Kong Menglin ignored him, going back to bed.

Wang Dajiang wouldn’t miss this opportunity and climbed onto the bed. "Meng Lin, Meng Lin, how are you?"

"Keep your distance from me."

"Meng Lin, yesterday..."

"Don’t mention yesterday. We have nothing to do with each other from now on."

After Kong Menglin finished speaking, she saw Wang Dajiang lower his head.

"Meng Lin, do you really look down on me so much?

Fine, I won’t bother you in the future. But yesterday wasn’t entirely my fault, Meng Lin, give me another chance. I’ll listen to you from now on and stay away."

"In your dreams?"

"Meng Lin, don’t you want to? Meng Lin, you were on top yesterday."

Seeing Kong Menglin blush, Wang Dajiang knew this was his chance. He hugged her tightly.

The two of them were reckless from ten in the morning until four in the afternoon.

"You better leave quickly, my third brother will be back soon."

"Meng Lin, I can’t bear to leave you. Meng Lin, I’ll cook for you."

After heating the meal, Wang Dajiang went inside, gave Kong Menglin a deep kiss, then left.

Kong Menglin got up and put on clothes, feeling a little pride inside, knowing he couldn’t stay away for even a minute.

She got up to eat, finishing half a bowl of dog meat. Looking at the remaining bowl, she decided to wait for her third brother to return, so they could eat it together, or else it would spoil.

Lying on the bed, looking at the marks on the mattress, she wasn’t bothered and lay directly on them.

It wasn’t until eight in the evening that Kong Dehong knocked on the door.

"Third brother, why so late?"

"I came back after dinner. Here’s some pancakes mom made for you."

"Third brother, Wang Dajiang brought dog meat today. Let’s eat it together, or otherwise it’ll spoil by tomorrow."

"Dog meat?"

"Mm, hurry up and eat."

Being just eighteen, Kong Dehong wasn’t aware of things. Had Kong Demin been there, he would surely have noticed something different about Kong Menglin.

The two of them happily ate a bowl of dog meat, even soaking up the soup with bread.

"I forgot, didn’t take some to second brother and elder sister."

Kong Menglin didn’t say a word; she hadn’t thought about it at all.

On Monday, during lunch at the canteen, Wang Dajiang served Kong Menglin attentively.

While handing her dinner, he quietly said, "Meng Lin, do you want to rest at my place after lunch?"

"No."

"Meng Lin, I think about you all the time, just for a while, won’t make you late for work."

Kong Menglin still didn’t agree.

Kong Demin noticed his little sister seemed different, but he didn’t realize what it was, so he set it aside. He had his eyes on a new staff member at the Revolutionary Committee, a tall and pretty girl.

However, she paid no attention to Kong Demin, which left him anxious and restless.

By Friday night, Kong Menglin and her third brother went home together; they had no choice.

Come Saturday afternoon, making an excuse, she returned directly to Wang Dajiang’s.

But Wang Dajiang wasn’t usually there, so she had no choice but to go home.

She was furious, having come to see him, yet he had the nerve to be away?

Back home, the stove was cold and the bed was chilly. Annoyed, she lay on the cold bed.

Knowing Kong Menglin had gone back home, Wang Dajiang spent the day drinking with his raucous buddies, bragging without a filter about his grand achievements.

As he kept talking, he got more excited, and after drinking too much, he grabbed half a roasted chicken to take home to his mother. But unwittingly, he ended up wandering to the Kong Family door.

Seeing the gate wasn’t locked, emboldened by drink, he began to pound on the door.

Kong Menglin asked who it was, but received no reply. Yet the door continued to be knocked on loudly.

She opened the door to see a bleary-eyed, drunken Wang Dajiang. She intended to shut the door, but Wang Dajiang squeezed his way in.

"Meng Lin, Meng Lin, you’re really here? Am I dreaming?"

His words amused Kong Menglin; she gave him a glare and turned to enter the house.

Wang Dajiang followed behind. Being so drunk, he didn’t realize the door hadn’t been shut, nor did he notice his buddies trailing him.

Once inside, he grabbed Kong Menglin, "I’ve missed you so much."

Kong Menglin didn’t break free, half-pushing and half-accepting his advances. But just as they reached the pivotal moment, a few people burst in, one grinning slyly and saying something.

Kong Menglin was terrified, not noticing the signals among the men.

Wang Dajiang was pulled out by two people, "Brother Jiang, this?"

"I don’t mind."

When the three returned, the two left had already pinned Kong Menglin down.

"Wang Dajiang, save me."

Wang Dajiang pretended to rush over but was held back by two men.

This was just the beginning of Kong Menglin’s nightmare, which lasted until the middle of the night before the four men finally left.
