CHAPTER 42: CHAPTER 42: RESCUE

Nanshan Racecourse truly lives up to being a high-end location, with attendants right at the entrance, uniformly dressed, executing actions with standard precision, and faces adorned with cheerful smiles. They first inquire about what you need and ensure it gets delivered to the right spot.

The two went to the stables, where every horse was robust and fit. As they entered, the horses snorted and stomped their front hooves repeatedly. She picked a chestnut mare, while Yin Weiyi chose a white one. Leading the horses into the racecourse, they found it so vast that one couldn’t see where it ended, revealing its massive expanse. Everything except the track was blanketed in green, providing a refreshing and delightful view.

Since neither of them had ever ridden a horse before, they started with someone leading them, as a racecourse instructor taught them how to interact with the horses and the points to note while riding, which they did for almost an hour before mounting up.

Tong Yan’s chestnut horse and Yin Weiyi’s white horse were quite docile and not very tall. These horses were specially trained for ladies’ rides, hence unlikely to cause mishaps.

Tong Yan tried to slowly start riding. Horseback riding seemed difficult, but once the key points were grasped, it became quite easy.

She was a quick learner, able to pick up many things swiftly. Moreover, when she became serious, there was a stern, intense aura about her - an edge honed by painful lessons from her past life. Horses submit to those stronger than themselves and thus become entirely tamed.

As a result, Tong Yan quickly mastered it and ventured onto the track, leaving Yin Weiyi, who was unable to grasp the basics, wailing in envy.

With a smile, Tong Yan turned her head and shouted to Yin Weiyi, "Yiyi, catch me if you can."

Yin Weiyi was so provoked that she almost wanted to chase her down and fight.

After a few laps, becoming more familiar, the horse picked up speed. Tong Yan, seated on the horse, felt the wind whooshing past her ears, heightening a thrilling sensation.

Suddenly, an accident occurred. The chestnut horse started becoming irritable, whinnying and speeding up. Tong Yan tried pulling the reins to stop the horse, but the more she pulled, the less the horse listened. Witnessing the situation, staff members mounted horses to rescue her. Yin Weiyi was so anxious she almost mounted a horse herself, but staff nearby urgently prevented her; otherwise, they wouldn’t know whom to rescue. They could only stand aside and shout.

The horse ran further and further, and Tong Yan was about to fall off. At that very moment, a large chestnut horse galloped beside her, and she was lifted onto its back.

Still shaken, Tong Yan finally felt grounded, embraced in a small, safe haven. She wriggled, wanting to see who had saved her.

"Don’t move." A deep, cool voice sounded above her head.

A rather sentimental quote from a blockbuster movie suddenly popped into Tong Yan’s mind: Someday, your prince will come riding a white horse with rainbow clouds to take you away.

After all she had been through, she knew better than to think so fancifully. Yet, at this moment, it was the only line her mind conjured.

But how ill-timed this was. How could Emperor Bo be her prince? He was a revered figure she could never reach, not even in this new life.

My mind must be muddled, mulling over such nonsense, Tong Yan chuckled to herself sarcastically, "Thank you, Bo Yimo."

"Be more careful in the future." Bo Yimo brought her back to the racecourse entrance and set her down.

Yin Weiyi rushed over and hugged her, scanning her up and down, "Are you okay?"

Tong Yan brushed away her flailing hands and shook her head, "I’m fine."

Then she turned to Bo Yimo, and upon getting a clear look, she was startled. Excitedly pointing at Bo Yimo, she stammered, "You, you, you’re Young Master Mo."

Bo Yimo’s fans called him Young Master Mo, the graceful gentleman, unparalleled in the world.

Bo Yimo nodded slightly, his voice cool, "Hello."

Yin Weiyi was even more thrilled, just about to find something for him to sign. Tong Yan found this embarrassing and called out, "Yiyi, you..."

"Don’t interrupt." Yin Weiyi glared at her, then turned back, eyes full of tender affection toward Bo Yimo, "Young Master Mo, I’m your loyal fan, I’ve watched ’Return’ countless times!"

Tong Yan: ...

Such a woman, forgetting loyalty over looks!
