CHAPTER 330: CHAPTER 189: SHOCK (PART 2)

Laughter rose from the crowd, as one trainee hung her head low and wept softly. Hang Menglin frowned: "Spineless!"

The instructor of class two, Ma Chong, glanced over at the other party: "Everyone starts from the same step; you need to learn to respect others!"

"Hmph, respect is not something that’s given but earned!" Hang Menglin said with disdain: "Just because they are female trainees, should we be sympathetic and cherish them? Don’t forget, they’re soldiers first, women second!"

Ma Chong frowned: "No, how come I find that you seem to have preconceived notions against women, aren’t you a woman yourself?" The corners of the other instructors’ mouths visibly twitched.

Hang Menglin reasserted: "I am a soldier first, and a woman second!"

The trainees of class one, who were far away, were considered fortunate. Classes two, three, four, five, six, twelve, and sixteen all had female trainees. After hearing Hang Menglin’s words, their complexions turned somewhat pale. If they ended up in the instructor’s hands, how could they make it through the days ahead? Four years...

Class one finished reporting their scores, and the best performer was a trainee named You Ruoruo, scoring 87 rings. If she had never touched a gun before, her talent was considered not bad.

Ten minutes later, class two’s results were also out. The best score was 97 rings, achieved by a former shooting team member named Liang Xiaoshi.

Shao Bo shouted to class three: "Class three, take your positions!"

As the command was given, Xing Nong’s little face trembled with excitement. Approaching the shooting position, she extended her fist: "Luoluo, Yaoguang, let’s do this!"

The three bumped fists: "Let’s do this!"

Yu Na swept a glance over the group, a confident smile gracing her face as she lay down on the shooting position.

Luo Ye took aim and the corner of her mouth curled upward in a perfect arc. Among all the tasks, she was most confident in shooting. When she took position and aimed before, she realized her already excellent gun skills from her past life had become even more precise. She could feel the target’s center even with her eyes closed; she firmly believed that when it came to gun skills, apart from Ye Xuan, no one else could dare to say they felt the same, including the instructors!

The trainees practiced with Type 81 automatic rifles, which had substantial recoil. If she weren’t afraid of shocking everyone, Luo Ye really wanted to try shooting from a standing position to feel the difference.

"Begin!"

Luo Ye pulled the trigger almost simultaneously with Shao Bo’s command; while some trainees were still aiming, she had finished shooting all 10 shots.

If she hadn’t encountered Ye Mo before, she might have held back a little to conceal her abilities. But Ye Mo, in stirring her hidden memories, also made her see things clearly: a soldier relies on strength, and to control one’s destiny, one must give it their all!

After Xing Nong finished shooting, she leaned in close to Luo Ye’s ear, puzzled: "Luoluo, did you aim properly just now? Why the rush?"

"I should have aimed right, don’t worry, it won’t be an empty target."

"That’s good then." Xing Nong looked doubtful: "Apart from me taking you to the shooting range, have you practiced somewhere else?"

Luo Ye shook her head: "No."

"Let’s just wait and see the results," Xing Nong slapped her forehead, "I say, you weren’t provoked by Coach Hang, were you? She doesn’t care about the speed, but the score."

"I’m not that impulsive, alright, stop prattling, it’s so buzzing, I can barely listen!"

When class three’s team returned, the instructors studied Luo Ye with curious faces. If this girl wasn’t too arrogant, then she was too confident. Hopefully, her results would suffice; Coach Hang was watching everyone to catch their gaffes after all.

Ye Xuan, however, had already seen Luo Ye’s score through the binoculars, and his inner shock was indescribable. To his recollection, no one had trained this girl in gun skills; what else could she possibly not be skilled at?

Hang Menglin caught sight of Ye Xuan’s odd expression and snorted: "What, off target?"

Ye Xuan frowned and looked at her without saying a word.

"I’ve said it before, you all are too easy on female trainees in training, never focusing on their mental attitude. Trying to shoot wild just to spite me, thinking I’d approve of her by that?"

Unable to hold back, Ma Chong retorted: "Coach Hang, do you hold grudges against female trainees more attractive than yourself?"

Hang Menglin shot back: "Are you particularly lenient towards attractive female trainees?"

"We..."

Ye Xuan interrupted Ma Chong: "Enough arguing, let’s talk after the scores are out. What’s the point in arguing over meaningless things?"

"Yes, Boss!" Ma Chong’s lips curved up in a smug smile; knowing his boss, he was sure that Luo Ye’s score was more than acceptable!

"Target No.1, 99 rings." A wave of acclaim arose from the crowd, as Yu Na’s lips curled up involuntarily. She glanced towards Ye Xuan and, noticing he wasn’t looking at her, she couldn’t help feeling a hint of disappointment.

"Target No.2, 71 rings." Miaomiao quietly heaved a sigh of relief. She didn’t need to be the best, but her score was still better than that of most trainees from the other classes.

"Target No.3, 21 rings." Yao Juanjuan’s face reddened, then she straightened her chest proudly. There were others who’d scored zero rings from missing the target; she considered herself to be not too bad.

"Target No.4, perfect score!" The trainees lapsed into silence, after a while letting out stunned "ahhs." Xing Nong’s face flushed as she secretly winked at Luoluo and Yaoguang, both of whom gave her a thumbs up in unison.

"Target No.5, perfect score!" The crowd gasped again, and everyone’s gaze collectively shifted to class three. Then, the score-announcer excitedly added, "Ten bullets, all hit the same spot!"

Pin-drop silence! Absolute pin-drop silence! The faces of the crowd were filled with shock and utter disbelief...
