CHAPTER 500: CHAPTER 301: THOUGHTS / FINALE / RETURN TO SCHOOL
"Just...I just wanted to know, are you and Wang Peirong really...decided to be together?" Ying Nuo’s eyes dropped as she muttered, "Wang Peirong was our classmate, and she’s quite vain." She quickly explained, "Brother Luo, I’m not slandering her, this is the honest truth. I’ve written to Luoluo about it, she told me not to worry, but... but..."
"But why am I still with her till now, right?" Luo Feng’s eyes brimmed with a smile, "Are you worried about me?"
"After all, Luoluo and I are best friends, I don’t want her to have a sister-in-law she can’t get along with, and I don’t want you... to be caught in the middle in the future." Ying Nuo was drawing circles on the ground with her foot. "Brother Luo, don’t think I’m being too nosy, I really consider you all as my closest people, that’s why I’m concerned."
"Silly girl." Luo Feng sighed, looking at her tenderly, "Tell me the truth, seeing me with other girls, besides worrying about me, do you have any other thoughts?"
"Wha... What thoughts?" Ying Nuo’s voice was as tiny as a mosquito, and her ears turned red.
Luo Feng chuckled softly, "If there are none, then forget it."
"Oh, I’m going back." Ying Nuo dully responded and lowered her head as she prepared to leave.
"Silly girl." Luo Feng grabbed her abruptly:" Ye’er always talks about making you her sister-in-law, what about you, what do you think?"
"No... no thoughts." Ying Nuo swallowed hard, muttering softly, "You and Wang Peirong are always seen together, what can I think?"
Her smile hid a faint bitterness, making one feel pity for her; but now was not the time, Luo Feng barely suppressed his impulse to divulge the truth, "Nuonuo, if you ever like a boy, you must tell me."
"Eh?" Ying Nuo looked at Luo Feng confusedly, could it be that Brother Luo already has a girlfriend, hoping that she also finds a boyfriend quickly...
"Don’t overthink, just remember, tell me once you feel that way." Luo Feng zipped up her jacket to the top to protect her neck, "It’s so cold, why don’t you dress warmer? Hurry back to the dorm."
"Oh." Ying Nuo drifted towards the dorm like the cloud, his long fingers touching her chin felt warm and soft, his indulgent and caring tone warmed her heart... Was this only because Luoluo asked him to do so?
She slapped her head hard, what nonsense was she thinking? Stop! Stop! Since when had his every move started affecting her heart? This is not a good sign!
Pan Fang emerged from behind a tree, stepping forward and grabbing Ying Nuo’s arm, "I saw it all, tell me, has there been progress?"
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Ying Nuo glanced at her sideways: "Brother Luo Feng has always been caring towards me, look at your gossipy face. By the way, when have you been eavesdropping?"
"From so far away, you think I have ears that catch the wind? I was about to go to the library to find you, just happened to see you and Young Master Luo being all sticky; I hid to avoid making it awkward." Pan Fang said, glancing at Luo Feng still standing there, "He’s really handsome, no wonder Nuonuo’s cheeks are all flushed!"
"Can’t you stop spreading rumors for a moment, does it make you uncomfortable?"
"Nuonuo, I’m thinking for you, if you don’t act fast, you’ll have nowhere to cry!" Pan Fang sighed, "Just look, that man is about to become Luoluo’s sister-in-law!"
"How does that even connect!" Ying Nuo exclaimed, her mood sinking; after thinking for a while, she quickened her pace towards the dorm.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Pan Fang quickly caught up.
"I haven’t replied to Luoluo’s letter yet, you go to the library on your own."
"Getting anxious, are we?" Pan Fang playfully embraced Ying Nuo, "I’m not going to the library either, let’s write to Luoluo together!"
"No need!"
"Have secrets you’re afraid I’ll see?"
"..."
After the two of them disappeared, Luo Feng finally turned and left, thankful that she had such a cheerful person by her side, ah, some things can’t be rushed, they need time.
...
When Liang Jing arrived at the villa, the door was wide open, her heart pounding excitedly she quickened her steps and entered.
"Liang Jing?" The man who came out of the villa paused, then smiled, "No way, I just bought this place and you’ve come to visit?"
The man was an old acquaintance—Meng Tiangu from Dacheng Company. Liang Jing’s eyes filled with joy, "Mr. Meng, you bought this villa?"
"Yes, Old Hao tossed me the keys, left a lawyer’s business card and left, said someone else would handle all the procedures. Your sister-in-law has always liked this place, so we moved in to tidy up." Meng Tiangu scratched his head, "I don’t know what got into Old Hao!"
Liang Jing tried to keep her facial expression natural, offering a slight smile, "Mr. Meng, I have two pieces of luggage left here, didn’t Mr. Hao tell you?"
"He didn’t mention it, he instructed to throw out all belongings..."
Liang Jing hurriedly interrupted him, "Did you throw them out?"
"They were taken away at noon; now we have hired a cleaning company to tidy up. I was thinking of redecorating, but your sister-in-law is impatient..."
"Where... where has it gone?" Liang Jing’s face was pale, her lips quivering as she interrupted Meng Tiangu.
"The second-hand market. A used purchasing company came to pick it up directly," Meng Tiangu sensed her distress and, recalling the rumors about her and Hao Feng, handed her a business card, "This is the company. You might want to check it out."
"Thank you, Mr. Meng." Liang Jing took the business card and ran out, then hurried back, "Mr. Meng, I... I don’t have any money on me, could I... borrow some first?"
"Sure, how much?" Meng Tiangu took out his wallet and flipped through it, an awkward smile on his face: "Xiao Liang, I’m sorry, I don’t have any cash on me."
"Mr. Meng, could I ask your wife—"
Before Liang Jing could finish, a woman in her forties came out, dressed in a black suit, with a graceful figure and a lucky face.
"Wife, this is Xiao Liang..." Meng Tiangu introduced Liang Jing to his wife and explained her current predicament, Meng’s wife smiled gently, "Xiao Liang, I’m sorry, I don’t have any cash on me either, I can’t help you."
"Sorry to bother you, Mr. Meng, and sister-in-law." Liang Jing forced a grim smile and turned to leave the villa.
"Husband, quite clever, huh?"
"Of course, the sale of this house was so suspicious, and Hao Feng specifically instructed to discard the stuff, how could I foolishly help her?"
"Speaking of which, it’s sad to see her this way; however, given that she drove Hao Feng to this, we should not start randomly being charitable!"
"..."
The conversation between Mr. and Mrs. Meng entered Liang Jing’s ears clearly; her heart sank swiftly, understanding that they purposely let her hear, hinting her not to bother them anymore!
She had no expectations from Mr. and Mrs. Meng anyways, what frightened her most was a possibility that she couldn’t find her luggage anymore!
Holding onto the last trace of luck, she rushed to the second-hand furniture purchasing company, which was quite friendly. They informed her that the furniture was unloaded outside and not sorted yet, allowing her to look for herself.
She circled the pile of furniture numerous times and searched every nook and cranny, finding none of her belongings.
Asking the workers who said all the furniture that had been brought was here, she collapsed on a table in despondency, understanding clearly at this point that those possessions, whoever may have taken them privately, were never going to appear again.
What should she do? Even selling all her belongings wouldn’t cover a thousand yuan. It was probably impossible for her to find a decent job in this city. The only solution was to leave immediately, but where could she go?
Workers passing by occasionally glanced at Ling Jing’s distraught figure, the female boss disapproved and came over to nudge her, "Girl, if you haven’t found it just leave; my workers still need to work."
Liang Jing staggered out of the quiet yard, her mind blank. As the saying goes, it’s easy to go from frugality to luxury, but difficult to revert back to frugality. Without any mental preparation, she had, in one day, descended from moderate wealth to near beggary—how could she endure this?
"Um..." Suddenly, her mouth was forcefully covered.
Five minutes later, she was thoroughly penniless, truly reduced to a beggar.
Watching two men run off into the distance, she neither screamed nor shouted, but collapsed against the wall like a ghost, suddenly bursting into hysterical laughter.
A passerby shuddered, dialing 110: "Police officer, I want to make a report. There’s a girl at Xiangshan Road number 20, seems like a homeless madwoman..."
"You are the madman, your entire family are madmen!" Liang Jing stood up, charging towards the man, who seeing the situation was not good, quickly ran off.
Liang Jing paused, shouting as she chased after him, "Let me use your phone..."
Meanwhile, at the same time, Luo Ye was running laps around the school playground, having just arrived at school to complete her routine physical, barely drank a gulp of water when the emergency assembly whistle blew.
Hang Menglin, unwilling to waste the last day of her dictatorial reign, commanded everyone to run 15 laps around the playground, only those who finished could have dinner.
The first three laps were manageable, but starting the fourth lap, Luo Ye felt unwell, her legs weak and her abdomen faintly hurting.
She guessed that it was due to not eating the whole day followed by sudden strenuous exercise causing some stomach cramps, thus she pressed her hands against the sore area, teeth clenched, continuing to run.
"Pick up the pace, everyone, don’t act like unfed old ladies," Hang Menglin ran and shouted alongside. Seeing Luo Ye falling a few steps behind, she frowned, "Luo Ye, what’s going on?"
Luo Ye bit her lip, speeding up to catch up.
"Luoluo, why do you look so pale? So much sweat, are you feeling alright?" Xing Nong looked at Luo Ye worried.
"I haven’t eaten all day, might have... run too hastily." Luo Ye barely squeezed out a smile, "It’s nothing, I’ll be fine soon."
Nuajin’s update for today: caught a cold, nose blocked, feverish headache, really uncomfortable, a few minutes late, guys... cough, please forgive me.
