CHAPTER 284: CHAPTER 284 REUNION WITH AN OLD FRIEND
If that’s really the case, he needs to stand up for Jiang Xue.
"We’re here to handle some matters," Old Sir Jiang replied with a smile, then looked at Mr. Mu and asked, "But Brother Mu, aren’t you usually in North City? How come you have time to come to Xu City?"
Bear in mind, North City is much farther from Xu City than South City. What brings the elder all the way from North City?
"Nothing much, just here to play," Mr. Mu replied lightly, then looked at Jiang Xue and said, "Xue’er, Brother Jiang and I are old acquaintances. It’s rare for us to meet today, so we’ll use your place to have a few drinks and catch up."
"Alright, I’ll go prepare lunch!" Jiang Xue nodded, barely glancing at Old Sir Jiang and Old Madam Jiang before leaving her parents’ house and heading back to her own place.
The groceries she bought today were all at her own house, not brought over. Besides, her parents’ place is relatively smaller than her own. So, she thought it would be better to cook at her place.
After Jiang Xue left, Old Madam Jiang felt a bit uncomfortable seeing how cold Jiang Xue was to her. They had been excited for a long time when they found out Jiang Xue was still alive, their eldest granddaughter.
They came with such enthusiasm, only to be met with a cold splash of water by Jiang Xue’s attitude.
Mrs. Jiang looked at everyone together, then got up and said, "I’ll go help Xue’er."
With that, she left, leaving Father Jiang alone to entertain the guests.
However, since Mr. Mu and Old Jiang were old acquaintances, Father Jiang couldn’t really get a word in, mostly just listening to the two reminiscing.
As Mr. Mu and Old Jiang chatted, they brought up the matter of Jiang Mingzhu, saying, "Brother Jiang, I heard your granddaughter works here in Xu City. You didn’t come to see her, did you?"
Old Jiang’s face stiffened at the mention of Jiang Mingzhu, unsure if Mr. Mu knew about what she’d done. However, given how familiar Mr. Mu seemed with Jiang Xue, it was very likely he already knew.
Initially, Old Jiang wanted to keep the family’s problems private. But seeing Jiang Xue’s attitude, he suddenly understood and said, "It’s embarrassing to say, but Mingzhu did something wrong to Jiang. I’m here specifically to apologize to them."
"Really?" Mr. Mu looked at Old Jiang, appreciating his honesty a bit more. Otherwise, he would’ve given him a stern reminder that Jiang Xue had his backing.
"Yes, the girl did such a thing, and it’s our failure in teaching her," Old Jiang lamented.
"No need to blame yourself, Brother. Since the mistake was made, the consequences must be faced."
"Yes, yes, yes, Brother Mu is right." Old Jiang nodded in agreement, then curiously asked about how Mr. Mu came to know Jiang Xue, "It doesn’t seem like it’s your first time at Jiang’s house, Brother Mu?"
"That’s right!" Mr. Mu nodded.
"I’m curious how you know Jiang’s family," Old Sir Jiang wondered, unable to understand how someone of Mr. Mu’s status from North City came to know an ordinary family like Jiang Xue’s.
It’s known that Jiang Xue’s family, the Jiang Family, are genuine farmers. Not only them but even Jiang Xue’s in-laws, the Mu Family, are farmers too.
