Rebirth of the Movie Queen: Mrs. Sinclair, Please Hug Me!
Chapter 44: She Wasn’t Pretending
CHAPTER 44: CHAPTER 44: SHE WASN’T PRETENDING
Elias Sinclair had just escaped from the press conference surrounded by reporters when he received a call from Cameron Grant.
"Elias, what happened? My phone was on silent during a meeting. Did something happen to Savannah?"
The moment he answered, he heard Cameron’s worried voice.
He had just left the company and hadn’t had a chance to catch up on the news yet, as he was on his way to Quinn Lockwood’s press conference.
But upon seeing the missed calls on his phone, he suddenly had a bad feeling, because Elias usually wouldn’t call him directly unless something major had occurred.
"She was taken away by men in black with unknown identities."
Elias rubbed his temples, feeling a bit frustrated. After all, Quinn Lockwood’s whereabouts were still unknown, and he hadn’t fulfilled his brotherly responsibilities.
This was one of the rare times he felt like this.
"How could this happen? Did you visit the site?"
Cameron was very anxious. If something really happened to Quinn Lockwood, he wouldn’t know how to explain it to Mr. and Mrs. Lowell.
"I was just about to leave; she’s not here."
Elias replied truthfully. But now that Cameron was aware of the situation, his task was somewhat complete and maybe he didn’t need to worry anymore.
"I see."
After hanging up, Cameron took a deep breath. He couldn’t believe that in such a short span of time after leaving, such a significant incident had happened.
Quinn Lockwood had too many enemies right now, and many who disliked her could have been the ones to take her.
Cameron watched the replay of the live broadcast in his car, learning that it was Dylan Quinn’s fans causing chaos, leading to loss of control at the scene. He decided to go find Dylan first.
However, due to his identity, outsiders didn’t know he was Quinn Lockwood’s brother, so he had to send his assistant to inquire while he drove to Quinn Lockwood’s agency.
At the agency, he inquired about Quinn Lockwood’s whereabouts under the guise of a fan, only to be told by Anna that Quinn was not feeling well today and was resting at home.
For the sake of reputation, the company would definitely not admit that they had Quinn Lockwood kidnapped to the company. Besides, Quinn was currently safe, so there was no need to worry unnecessarily.
The agency’s attitude undoubtedly made Cameron grant feel cold for Quinn. The star was missing, and the company showed no urgency, speaking as if Quinn had nothing to do with them.
At that moment, he understood why Mr. Lowell was so against his daughter developing a career in the entertainment industry; it turned out he feared she would suffer.
Meanwhile, his assistant called to inform him that Dylan didn’t know about this, leaving Cameron still in turmoil.
Though Elias claimed he wasn’t involved, he discreetly instructed Joyce Kramer to keep an eye on the situation.
In the evening, right after Elias finished work and returned to the Sinclair Family’s old residence, Nina Sinclair happily greeted him.
"Brother, you’re back."
She was sitting on the sofa, watching TV and eating an apple, spending her days quite leisurely.
"Hmm."
Elias responded indifferently, his eyes unconsciously glancing at the door to Quinn Lockwood’s room.
"Don’t bother looking, she’s not back."
Nina, noticing Elias’s glance, immediately added in displeasure.
She saw the live broadcast this morning, and she hoped that Quinn Lockwood had been chopped into pieces, never to return.
"Brother, if she really was kidnapped and never comes back, would you make Faye your girlfriend?"
Nina asked curiously, thinking of her best friend—if something really happened to Quinn, her best friend would have a chance.
After all, she was the heiress to the Caldwell Group, well-matched with the Sinclair Family, unlike Savannah.
Thinking of this, Nina was overjoyed; they didn’t even need to lift a finger to get rid of that woman—it was effortless.
"No."
Elias’s face turned dark; he didn’t want to hear any more talk about that woman’s disappearance.
As for the Caldwell heiress, he only thought of her as a sister, like Nina, and didn’t want to explain further.
"Why not? Faye is obviously so good."
Nina looked puzzled, excitedly turning to Elias.
Elias stayed silent, handing his suit jacket to Nanny Warren, instructing her to take it to the dry cleaner.
Just then, there was a commotion at the door. Elias and Nina both turned to look and saw that it was Quinn Lockwood, changing her shoes at the entrance.
Elias frowned, examining Quinn Lockwood. She had surprisingly returned unscathed.
"Oh, I wondered who it was. Isn’t this Savannah, who went missing at the press conference today? Coming back so late, what happened in between, I wonder?"
Nina sneered, sarcastically addressing Quinn. Who knew what those men in black had done to her during those hours she was missing?
At the moment, Quinn’s eyes were hollow, naturally leading to speculation.
Quinn ignored her, continuing with what she was doing.
Seizing this moment, Elias sent a message to Cameron, telling him not to worry, that Quinn had safely returned home.
After changing her shoes, Quinn walked straight to her room, thinking about what happened at the agency today.
The press conference couldn’t continue. Would this be considered breaking her promise? How was she any different from the old Savannah? Where did her so-called change really start?
Thinking of this, her mood instantly darkened.
"What happened today?"
Seeing Quinn looking absent-minded, Elias blocked her path.
This question he was asking on behalf of Cameron, at least to know who had kidnapped her and what had happened during that time.
"Oh brother, do you even need to ask? Seeing her acting as if nothing happened, you can tell it was all orchestrated by her—a scheme she’s played many times, truly childish."
Quinn’s silence made Nina even more brazen.
Few could return unharmed after being kidnapped, why could she? If not because she hired someone to perform the act herself?
Furthermore, that has always been Savannah’s way of doing things, going to any length for fame.
Thinking of this, Nina rolled her eyes dramatically; she just detested Savannah’s pretentious nature.
After accumulating emotions throughout the day, Quinn really didn’t feel like explaining herself. Nina’s attitude agitated her even more, so she made no response and indifferently went upstairs.
"Brother, look at her attitude, what a show-off."
Nina complained to Elias, pointing at Quinn’s back.
"She wasn’t pretending." Watching Quinn’s back, Elias unexpectedly said.
He didn’t even know why he said that; his instincts told him that this time, Quinn was not acting.
