Chapter 446: Old Illness Recurs
CHAPTER 446: CHAPTER 446: OLD ILLNESS RECURS
In fact, Melody Shepherd didn’t know about Quinn Lockwood’s stomach problem until just recently.
At first, when she saw the stomach medicine at Elias Sinclair’s place, she was puzzled. Elias didn’t have a stomach problem, and neither did anyone else in the Sinclair Family, yet there was a packet of stomach medicine in the drawers of many rooms at the house.
So it turned out Quinn Lockwood had a stomach issue. In that case, it seemed there was another point she could exploit.
Thinking of this, a somewhat smug smile appeared on Melody Shepherd’s face, as if she were already the victor standing at the finish line.
It wasn’t until she walked to the studio’s entrance that she put on a hurried appearance.
"Elias, there’s no one in the studio. The light in Miss Lowell’s office is still on, but she’s not there."
"It’s so late already, she probably left by now..." Melody Shepherd lowered her head, as if she’d said something very tactful, tilting her head slightly to reveal a playful and charming side to Elias Sinclair.
"Left?" But the man’s gaze didn’t fall on her face; instead, he looked at the now completely dark building, a cold glint instantly filling his eyes.
Melody Shepherd pursed her lips twice, looking cautious, though she mouthed "yes" without actually making any sound.
Now, the furrow between the man’s brows deepened, his expression turning dark. He raised his hand to turn the car key, and the roar of the engine followed.
"Aren’t you going to call Miss Lowell?" Melody Shepherd tried to dissuade him but instinctively placed her hand on the car door handle.
"Back to the company." The man didn’t directly answer Melody Shepherd’s question but continued looking ahead with a furrowed brow.
Internally, Elias Sinclair ran through all the places Quinn Lockwood might go. He suspected she was with a man named Han, which made his frown grow even deeper.
He turned the car around and headed toward the Sinclair Group, intending to call home and ask if Quinn Lockwood was there, but before he could press the call button, he received a call from Cameron Grant.
"What’s up?" Elias Sinclair’s brow twitched slightly, his handsome face still cold as ice.
"Elias, are you with Savannah? I’ve called her several times, but no one answered. Sharon says Savannah hasn’t been feeling well since the afternoon. I bought some medicine to bring over, but I can’t reach her..."
Cameron Grant’s voice was urgent, clearly indicating he’d been trying to contact Quinn Lockwood for a long time without success.
He received a call from Sharon Shaw as soon as he got off the plane, reporting today’s events and Quinn Lockwood’s condition.
In fact, Quinn Lockwood hadn’t been feeling well for a few days.
Because of her busy schedule and irregular hours, her chronic stomach pain had flared up and become more severe.
Cameron Grant had found a senior TCM expert to prepare several courses of stomach-nourishing herbal medicine for Quinn Lockwood.
He had just picked up the medicine from the expert and wanted to deliver it to Quinn Lockwood, but he couldn’t reach her.
"She’s been learning about company affairs late into the night lately, not eating much, and her condition seems to be worsening. I’m worried something might have happened to her."
Cameron Grant’s voice seemed to grow more somber, his brows furrowing deeper, his face revealing an unfamiliar anxiety and helplessness.
He felt genuinely panicked, the feeling of being adrift without a stable place to land spreading throughout his entire being.
"I’m not with her. Sharon said she’s at the company, right?"
"Alright, I’ll go back and check now." The man’s eyes flashed with panic, then he turned the steering wheel, changing the car’s direction.
He used his Bluetooth headset to dial Quinn Lockwood’s number repeatedly, but no one answered.
An unsettling feeling of correctness arose from within him, and Elias Sinclair’s expression grew stern. His foot on the accelerator increased its pressure.
"Elias, where are we going?" Melody Shepherd sat in the back seat, looking puzzled at Elias Sinclair.
The conversation between him and Cameron Grant on the phone earlier left Melody Shepherd with an inexplicable sense of foreboding.
She looked out the car window, watching the previously passed scenes and buildings blur by again, her pupils contracting sharply.
"Going back to find someone." The man’s expression was full of frost, his eyes deep as he gazed ahead. What should be a ten-minute journey felt especially long to Elias Sinclair.
"Find someone? Miss... Miss Lowell?" Melody Shepherd’s smile seemed to stiffen for a moment, her hand unconsciously clenching on her knee.
Haven’t they already looked? Why go back...
If they really found out...
Melody Shepherd slightly raised her eyes to glance at Elias Sinclair, seeing his serious expression and unresponsive demeanor, which made her fingers squeeze tighter, turning pale.
It’s okay, even if Elias really found Quinn Lockwood, she wasn’t afraid.
The office was so dark, it was normal not to see someone lying on the ground.
Thinking of this, Melody Shepherd felt less anxious.
She was ready to face any challenges.
Elias Sinclair drove back to the studio at an almost breakneck speed, quickly exiting the car and almost running into the studio, searching every corner from the ground floor up until he reached Quinn Lockwood’s office.
When he saw Quinn Lockwood curled up on the floor, unconscious, he stopped abruptly, his entire body stiffening.
"Savannah Lowell?"
Elias Sinclair felt like the space in his mind, sealed with numerous emotions, had been suddenly opened, causing a surge of complex and intertwined feelings that left him uncharacteristically bewildered.
He picked up the woman from the ground, the anger-induced frown on his face replaced with full concern.
"Ugh, it hurts..." As she was lifted from the ground, Quinn Lockwood pressed her hand more tightly against her stomach, her small face twisting with pain, her head falling into Elias Sinclair’s chest.
A flicker of panic crossed the man’s face, his arms holding Quinn Lockwood even tighter as his steps became unusually disordered. But after taking a few hurried strides, Elias Sinclair stopped, his brow knitting even more tightly.
"Didn’t you say you didn’t find anyone?" Elias Sinclair’s narrow, phoenix-like eyes glanced at Melody Shepherd beside him, his cold demeanor instantly dropping the room’s temperature to freezing.
"I-I didn’t find anyone. I searched all the rooms just now, and I didn’t see Miss Lowell." Melody Shepherd looked at Elias Sinclair with a face full of confusion, seemingly surprised to find Quinn Lockwood there.
