Rebirth of the Movie Queen: Mrs. Sinclair, Please Hug Me!
Chapter 459: Drowning Sorrows in Drink
CHAPTER 459: CHAPTER 459: DROWNING SORROWS IN DRINK
"Alright." Quinn Lockwood’s expression changed imperceptibly, but she still changed her shoes and walked towards the kitchen.
She was already a bit angry.
Faced with this inexplicable outburst and nitpicking, Quinn Lockwood’s character would absolutely make her retort.
You can criticize her, you can ask her to tidy up the kitchen, or even tidy up any other place, but at the very least, don’t be so unreasonable, okay?
Quinn suppressed the active fire in her heart and pushed open the kitchen door.
Thankfully, there weren’t many groceries this time, and they had already been sorted and arranged during delivery, she just needed to put the different types of items in different places.
Forget it, better not to ask, maybe it’s because I really did come home too late today.
Quinn exhaled and started handling the groceries.
She is not Savannah Lowell, she doesn’t need to have an argument to be at peace with difficulties that aren’t even difficult.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Sinclair stood not far from the kitchen, listening to the rustling sound of opening packaging inside, feeling somewhat puzzled.
Is she really cleaning the kitchen?
Although Savannah has always treated Mrs. Sinclair with fawning and flattery, Mrs. Sinclair knows Savannah would never obediently clean the kitchen.
She is, after all, the singular, spoiled and arrogant daughter of The Lowell Family.
Mrs. Sinclair lingered at the kitchen door for a while, seeing Quinn was seriously tidying those groceries, she couldn’t help but let out a cold snort.
It really is because she feels guilty towards The Sinclair Family.
It didn’t take more than half an hour for Quinn to finish sorting the groceries.
When she went back to her room after finishing, she discovered Elias Sinclair had already fallen asleep, though he was still in the posture with his hand over his forehead.
Clearly, he had fallen asleep while waiting for Quinn.
Quinn turned off the light and crawled into bed quietly, unintentionally pressing down on the arm that the man had placed on her side of the bed.
"Finished cleaning?" The man turned slightly, his voice a bit hoarse, obviously having been woken up suddenly from sleep.
"Mm..." Quinn responded softly. She gently pushed Elias Sinclair’s arm, wanting to lie down and rest, but was pulled into his arms instead.
"Good girl, sleep." Elias hugged Quinn’s back, then left a gentle kiss on her forehead.
It was late now, and the woman in his arms easily stirred certain feelings within him, so to avoid his own discomfort, Elias refrained from making any further moves.
Accompanied by the man’s shallow breathing, Quinn slowly drifted into dreamland.
The next day, before Quinn could even head out, she saw Mrs. Sinclair and Melody Shepherd outside the villa, both getting into Elias’s car together.
Almost every day thereafter, Melody Shepherd would appear at the Sinclair Manor, sometimes early, sometimes late, and every time with Elias present.
Although Elias would often just briefly meet Melody and then leave, Mrs. Sinclair always managed to find various reasons to ’invite’ Elias out of the room or study.
Even leaving Elias and Melody alone in the study to discuss business in front of Quinn.
At first, Quinn could accept it, thinking that it’s just a few meetings and not worth getting upset about.
But as time went on, Quinn realized more and more that Mrs. Sinclair was clearly creating opportunities for Elias and Melody, showing no regard for her feelings.
She knew Mrs. Sinclair was already paving the way for Melody to enter the Sinclair Family.
Soon it would be time to step aside.
Quinn stood at the staircase, looking towards the tightly closed door of the study, feeling a sense of bitterness in her heart.
Such a vast Sinclair Residence would soon have no place for her.
So tonight, it’s best for her to go out.
Quinn returned to her room and changed into a simple white dress.
She enjoyed wearing light-colored clothes, but since Melody often wore white, Quinn hadn’t worn that color for a long time.
Now, thinking back, it was truly laughable— it seemed she really was a stand-in for Dancer Shepherd.
Quinn recalled when Elias’s attitude towards her changed, which was on the night her surprise dance video went public.
Maybe it was because she could dance, or because she had turned into a pure and elegant style, or because she resembled Melody Shepherd.
Because she and Melody were of a similar kind, Elias was good to her.
Realizing this, the bitterness Quinn had buried deep in her heart broke through its confines and overwhelmed her.
Tonight, she didn’t need anyone to accompany her, nor did she need a listener.
She wanted to drink herself into oblivion alone, to release all these complicated and painful emotions.
Quinn grabbed the car keys she hadn’t used for several days from the drawer and quickly walked out of the villa.
From the time she left her room to driving out the gate of The Sinclair Family, no one asked where she was going.
Outside the car window was a thick, dark night.
Quinn pressed hard on the accelerator, her lips curving upwards, yet revealing a hint of bitterness.
She went to a quiet sake bar and chose a corner seat where she wouldn’t easily be noticed, ordering a table full of drinks.
From beer to cocktails to champagne, she ordered various flavors and colors, enough to fill more than what could fit on a four-seater couch.
"Miss, would it be alright if we bring the others to you later when needed?" the waiter hesitantly asked, holding a bottle of champagne, seeing that Quinn’s table was already full.
"Mm." Quinn nodded, then filled the glass in front of her and drank its contents all in one go.
She glanced at the table full of drinks and let out a self-deprecating laugh.
She never thought there would be a day when Quinn Lockwood would go out drinking to oblivion, and it was because of a man.
A man she had only known for a year and a half, and for more than half that time they hadn’t gotten along.
What a joke— she actually... actually fell in love with someone else’s man.
If not for Savannah Lowell intervening, Elias and Melody would probably have reconciled by now. They might even be married.
Yes, they probably would even have a baby by now.
Elias and Melody are both so good-looking, their baby would certainly be extremely attractive!
Happiness, this scene truly was such a happy picture.
Quinn couldn’t stop imagining the married life of Elias and Melody, even feeling that she was currently the third party destroying someone else’s happy family.
