CHAPTER 66: CHAPTER 66: OUT OF LUCK

The group of brothers heard about the monkey head mushrooms and got tempted. That’s quite a delicacy! Though a bit disappointed, they thought it wasn’t too much to waste an afternoon and agreed.

Zhao Xiuxia waited with them in the cornfield all afternoon, eating and trampling, almost destroying the whole cornfield.

At long last, around midnight, Zhao Xiuxia had her brothers follow from a distance. She went to the sanatorium entrance and, sure enough, saw Sun Chan waiting there. Only the streetlights flickered, the main gate was locked, but a corner of the small gate was open. Seeing Zhao Xiuxia approaching, Sun Chan turned and walked inside, and Zhao Xiuxia quickly followed.

"You brat... wait for me! Why are you walking so fast?"

Sun Chan said coldly, "What if we’re discovered if we don’t hurry?"

Zhao Xiuxia followed Sun Chan into the mountains and woods, where it was uneven everywhere. Zhao Xiuxia fell a few times, while Sun Chan walked ahead without sparing her a glance.

The forest was wet and slippery; Zhao Xiuxia got herself covered in mud, nearly breaking her leg. Yet that bitch Sun Chan didn’t react at all. Furious, she leaned against a tree, rubbing her ankle, seething with hatred. That little brat is getting worse. Does she think I don’t dare to do anything to her?

I’ll deal with you when the time comes!

Sun Chan finally stopped in place. She stood before a big tree and pointed to the bushes inside: "The monkey head mushrooms are on the tree over there. Go pick them, but not too many. Otherwise, the authorities will notice."

"Let me see?" Zhao Xiuxia walked up to the big tree with her bag. Indeed! Her heart raced suddenly! Pairs of yellow monkey head mushrooms grew all over the place! How much would these be worth?

Sun Chan stood aside coldly, "Hurry and pick them. Stop dawdling and leave quickly!"

As Zhao Xiuxia opened the bag, she laughed, "Sun Chan, thank you. Today’s your last day as my daughter. Not only did you earn me two thousand bucks, but you also helped me find these many monkey head mushrooms!"

Sun Chan frowned, "What do you mean?"

"Don’t you know? I’ve already sold you to Xiong’er Ridge!" Zhao Xiuxia laughed. Behind her, Zhao Biao rushed forward to grab Sun Chan by the neck. He followed, but only he managed to sneak inside; the rest were blocked by the gatekeeper.

Sun Chan glared coldly at Zhao Xiuxia, "You just can’t stand to see me doing well, can you?"

"Even my own daughter didn’t live well, how can a bastard like you live better? Go serve those brothers in the mountains properly!" Zhao Xiuxia said while pushing Sun Chan.

Sun Chan staggered a few steps, unable to stand firm, as Zhao Biao came over and dragged her towards the bushes.

"Let go of me... mmph mmph..." Sun Chan’s voice gradually faded as Zhao Biao covered her mouth.

Zhao Xiuxia laughed happily, spat gleefully on the ground, "I’ll see how beautiful you are now!"

In the bushes, Zhao Biao dragged Sun Chan forward, while she kept struggling.

Zhao Biao kicked her a few times, "Still won’t behave? Just wait till I finish you off!"

"You abduct me, do you think people outside will let you go?" Sun Chan gritted her teeth.

"I’m your uncle, taking you out for matchmaking, is that illegal? Come on!" He dragged his unrelated niece like a sick stray dog. His face twisted in a grin, resembling his sister Zhao Xiuxia—selfish and malicious.

Sun Chan’s neck was being choked; she couldn’t breathe at all.

Yet just as he was stepping out of the forest, a few people blocked his way.

There were two soldiers, followed by a gun pointing at his face. Zhao Biao saw the dark barrel of the gun, his eyes almost popped out. A handgun, in these parts? Was this a bandit?

While he stood paralyzed with fear, Gu Junming already grabbed his arm, pulling Sun Chan away. He checked her up and down, concerned.

"Are you in much pain?"

Sun Chan shook her head, she had grown accustomed to being beaten. Gu Junming turned and gripped Zhao Biao’s right arm, pulling forcefully.

Crack! He dislocated her arm entirely, but before Zhao Biao could cry out, Yan Kai covered his mouth from behind.

Gu Junming kicked his chest, causing Zhao Biao to crash into the tree behind him, his ribs aching, unable to call out as the pain blinded him in bursts: "Don’t kill me, please don’t kill me, I’m just bringing my niece for matchmaking..."

"I’m not his niece; I don’t know him," Sun Chan said expressionlessly.

Zhao Biao was desperate, "Sun Chan, do you want to get me killed?"

Gu Junming expressionless, walked over and shoved a handful of dirt into his mouth, kicking him viciously between his legs, landing another brutal beating. Gu Junming’s face remained blank as he struck harshly. Yan Kai, holding Zhao Biao’s shoulder, was a bit worried: what if he got killed in the process?

Zhao Biao had never suffered such severe punishment in his life, his whole body convulsing continually.

"Stop hitting me... Do these soldiers hold a grudge?"

Casually glancing at the standing Sun Chan filled with hatred, he suddenly realized the brat had found support!

Gu Junming sneered, "Do you still not know why you’re being beaten?"

"Trafficking women, attempting murder to silence? Minimum of thirty years, call the police station," Yan Kai said from the side.

Zhao Biao crawled towards Sun Chan, "Please don’t report me. Sun Chan, tell them, I’m your uncle. Let them release me!"

Sun Chan coldly smiled, "Would my uncle sell me to Xiong’er Ridge? Don’t deny it. Didn’t the others come to back you up? They’ll all be caught in one sweep soon!"

Zhao Biao’s mouth gaped; when did the pushover become like this? If all the brothers from the Zhao Family were locked up, the family reputation would be in ruins, and the younger ones hadn’t even married yet!

He suddenly grinned, pleading, "I won’t target you anymore; please forgive me and let me go!"

Sun Chan turned away, ignoring him entirely. Gu Junming hauled him up by the shoulders, giving him a slap across the face, nose bleeding from the strike, his cries muffled again by Yan Kai from behind.

Gu Junming looked at him, saying, "This is to get you acquainted with the situation. You know? People in prison get beaten daily. You’d better start toughening up!"

"What do you mean... do soldiers get to assault people at will? If I get arrested, don’t think you’ll escape either!" He spoke bravely, though his voice trembled.

Sun Chan sneered, "Still trying to threaten us? You acted suspiciously in the forest, obviously up to plotting against me. These comrades stepped up to act justly; why shouldn’t they beat you?"

"I was wrong; I don’t dare anymore..." This time, he was truly scared out of his wits. Crying desperately, knocking his head repeatedly.
