Han Dong looked at Sun Chan, noticing her wearyplexion, probably from exhaustion. "How many sketches did you make this morning?"
"Four. Actually, they were previous sketches that I modified a bit. I’m working on drafting them now. Once done on paper, I can use fabric."
"Sounds good. I’ll take a lookter." Han Dong said, "As for the exam, do you think you can pass?"
Sun Chan smiled, "I honestly don’t know, but I feel I’ve done my best."
Gu Junming offered some food to Sun Chan, "Take a nap before sketching again. Don’t overwork yourself."
"I understand. You should also wash up and rest here before heading back to the base."
"I’m fine. I’ll take Kangkang back once he returns in the afternoon."
The two began whispering to each other quietly.
Han Dong lowered his head to eat, asionally ncing at Sun Chan, unsure of what he was feeling.
Because it was too hot, Sun Chan had all her hair tied up with a pencil casually holding it in ce. She wore a simple white short-sleeved top and a ck skirt—a very basic outfit and not the most beautiful appearance.
Yet, she remained unforgettable. Han Dong ate inrge mouthfuls, secretly reproaching himself, feeling ashamed and wondering how he became so shameless. How could he covet his sister-inw like that? Was he letting his big brother down?
Gu Junming said, "What are you doing? Who eats like that, only having half a bowl of rice without any dishes? Be careful, you might choke!"
"I know. I’m just in a hurry, right?"
"Even in a hurry, you shouldn’t eat like that. Did you forget what your mom said about you? She said every time you return home from a business trip, you eat like a starving ghost reborn, grabbing anything to eat. If you continue like this, you’ll end up with a stomach issue. Don’t just eat rice, eat properly and slowly."
Sun Chan suggested, "How about I make some porridge?"
Han Dong felt a headache, "Alright, can you guys stop being like my mom? Just thinking about her gets me agitated."
"We’re only doing this for your own good..."
"Stop talking, can I just eat properly?" He raised his hands and said, "I’m really fed up with you two."
Sun Chan chuckled, "Alright. We won’t say anything more, just eat slowly."
"I get it, so nagging. I can’t get a wife, right? If I get married, wouldn’t I have to listen to such nonsense every day?"
Gu Junming red at him, "Stop talking nonsense! We’re concerned for you and that’s how you respond. You’re so ungrateful for the blessing you have."
Sun Chan chuckled, finished her meal, and went back to drawing. Not long after, Yang Zhen and Yang Liu also came by. They were there to help. Yang Zhen looked at Sun Chan’s sketches in awe, thinking her ideas were already good, but upon seeing Sun Chan’s designs, she realized there were always others better than herself.
This piece is beige with a fitted waist and Chinese style frog buttons. The dress features simple floral embroidery, and the hem is designed like a ruffle, paired with a simple ck knee-length skirt—a short outfit.
"It’s so beautiful!"
Sun Chan said, "Foreigners love Chinese-style clothing; I think they will like it."
It’s Chinese-inspired, but not entirely Chinese, Yang Zhen couldn’t describe it—it’s the beauty of simplicity.
"Who can do this embroidery? I can’t do it."
Sun Chan smiled, "I’ll do it. Use a light-colored thread to add a touch, it doesn’t need to be too fancy."
Yang Zhen nodded with a smile.
Yang Liu wasn’t good at designing, but she was skilled at handiwork. She looked at the outfit drafted on paper.
"I’ll handle this. It’s so pretty, I can’t wait to see what it looks like when finished."
"Is it for Sun Chan?"
Sun Chan waved her hand, "Thest outfit was made to fit me, I have one already. This one is for you two. There’s another draft to make today, so you two can have one each. After showing it to the clients, you can keep them."
The two girls were very pleased, who wouldn’t want to wear a beautiful outfit?
Among the three, Yang Zhen had the most average figure, Sun Chan was too slim, and Yang Liu was a bit fuller, so they used her measurements for the cutting.
Sun Chan continued designing clothes outside, while Yang Zhen and Yang Liu worked on the clothing styles inside.
Han Dong brought over more than twenty different fabrics of varying materials and colors. Other necessary items like buttons, belts, and bead curtains were all avable, and if anything was needed temporarily, Yang Liu would go buy it.
He wanted to stay here, but Gu Junming said fewer people meant more peace. So, Gu Junming also went back to the base.
After Yang Zhen and Yang Liu cut the clothes, the sound of sewing machines filled the air relentlessly. The two took turns using the machines.
Sun Chan ignored these sounds as she drew on paper, asionally pausing to ponder deeply, sketching a few lines but quickly erasing them, somewhat hesitant. The further she went, the more difficult it became.
The client wanted all dresses, so she designed several separates and dresses, most of which were simple. However, to suit their taste, she also designed two very borate dresses.
These are not what Sun Chan likes, but since some people like them, she had to design such styles, withce and silk extending from the neckline downwards, embellished with small beads. The skirt below was sewn from many different colored fabrics, slightly reminiscent of ethnic styles.
Another set was a red dress, resembling a cocktail dress, very luxurious in color.
Sun Chan chose a burgundy fabric and designed a dress that was very tight-fit, with an embroidered hollow-back. From the waist down, the hem was embellished with red sequins, and the flowing tulle skirt extended to the ankles.
When she finished sketching these two dresses, Yang Zhen came out for water and was amazed at such beautiful garments.
"It’s truly stunning!"
Sun Chan smiled, "Such garments probably only foreigners dare to wear. If someone wore this in the street, they might be captured as an oddity. Plus, too much is exposed at the back."
"Who says that? I think it’s lovely. I n to wear this red one when I get married," Yang Zhen said with a smile.
Sun Chan teased, "Eager to get married, have you found someone you like? Should I let Gu Junming introduce someone to you?"
Yang Zhen blushed, "Don’t joke around, you know I didn’t mean that."
The two shared a few jokes, feeling very happy.
By the afternoon, the earlier Chinese-style dress had finally been prototyped. After Yang Zhen tried it on, she stood inside for a while beforeing out, and Sun Chan along with Yang Liu, were all very satisfied.
Sun Chan said, "This waistline should be a little higher, and I’ll sew the embroidery on."
"Should we add a bead curtain?" Yang Zhen asked.
Sun Chan and Yang Liu shook their heads. This was enough; adding more would be overlyplicated—it would ruin the look, being too busy instead of elegant.
