Rebirth Swapped Bride; Married to the Ruthless Cursed Billionaire
Chapter 468: Self defense
CHAPTER 468: SELF DEFENSE
"Open the door."
Harrison’s deep-set eyes narrowed slightly as they landed on Kai.
Why does this guy look so familiar?
Suddenly, his brows furrowed tightly—clearly recalling the earlier rejection at the elevator downstairs.
His gaze shifted toward the door, a flicker of displeasure flashing in his narrowed eyes.
So, the person inside VIP Room No. 5 was the same one from before. What a coincidence.
"I’m sorry, sir," Kai replied, recognizing Harrison instantly.
A trace of exasperation darted through his eyes, though his tone remained impeccably polite.
"How may I assist you?"
This guy really had a death wish, didn’t he? Bashing his head against Mr. Luther’s iron wall like this?
Under normal circumstances, Harrison wouldn’t have wasted another second standing outside a door.
But the memory of the man he’d glimpsed in the elevator made him reconsider.
Swallowing his impatience, he forced himself to speak.
"I need to speak with your boss."
Kai knew exactly who the man was referring to—Mr. Luther.
"Please wait here for a moment," he said to Harrison with a slight nod.
"I’ll go in and check."
"Check?"
Harrison stared straight inside. Kai, his tone sharpening with impatience.
"No need.
Once I’m inside, I’ll make everything clear to your boss myself.
Your boss won’t blame you."
As he spoke, he took a step toward the door.
If Kai let this man barge in just like that, he might as well hand in his resignation right then.
Kai stretched out an arm, blocking Harrison’s path, and repeated firmly, "I’m sorry, but you can’t go in without Mr. Luther’s permission."
His words remained polite, but his expression had turned noticeably colder.
Queen, who had been about to step forward and pull Harrison back, hesitated at Kai’s stance.
She withdrew her hand and stayed put.
A sudden premonition told her that Harrison wouldn’t come out on top in this confrontation.
The one who’d end up losing—well, that remained to be seen.
Juliet observed the commotion from a distance, her gaze inscrutable.
As long as her goal was achieved, she couldn’t care less about what methods Harrison employed.
Harrison’s expression darkened visibly as he stared at the arm blocking his path.
In the city, few dared to stand in his way.
The atmosphere instantly turned icy.
The attendant waiting nearby was adept at reading the room.
Noticing the shift in Harrison’s demeanor, his pulse quickened.
immediately stepped forward, leaning in close to Kai and speaking in a hushed tone.
"This is President Harrison of Harrison Group.
Just let him through—it’ll be fine."
The man deliberately emphasized the first half of his sentence.
Anyone with even a passing knowledge of E Country’s business world would understand exactly what President Harrison of Harrison Group represented.
Harrison was a direct descendant of the Harrison family.
President Harrison?
With these two standing behind him, no "President" held any weight here.
Kai gave a slight nod to acknowledge he’d heard, yet made no move to step aside.
The waiter: " Was this intentional, or had he genuinely not understood?
Or perhaps he was deliberately playing dumb?
The event organizers trailing behind exchanged uneasy glances.
Seeing how blatantly Kai was disregarding Harrison’s status, they feared things might escalate and cautiously took a couple steps forward.
What an insolent watchdog who didn’t know his place.
Fine.
If that’s how it was, there was no need to spare any courtesy.
Harrison had no patience to waste any more time on this.
Harrison raised his hand and shoved Kai forcefully.
"Who the hell do you think you are?
Get out of my way."
To maintain his physique, Harrison regularly worked out, and the push carried considerable force.
Yet Kai remained rooted in place, posture ramrod straight, not even budging an inch.
His expression was icy.
"Sir, I must ask you to stop right there."
His tone now carried an unmistakable warning.
So the guy had some skills—no wonder he was so cocky.
A glint of disdain flickered in Harrison’s eyes as he sized up Kai.
"And what if I refuse?"
Harrison withdrew his hand, ceasing to push Kai.
Instead, he strode forward, closing the distance between them with deliberate steps.
"Harrison," Queen frowned, stepping forward to grab his arm.
"He made himself perfectly clear.
Can’t you just wait outside for a bit?"
Juliet’s fair brow furrowed as she watched Queen clutch Harrison’s sleeve.
*So much for not caring—now she’s all over him behind my back?*
A slow, icy smirk curled at the corners of her lips.
Harrison was already hers.
No matter how hard Queen tried, it would all be in vain.
"Wait?"
Harrison scoffed, his pride too wounded to listen.
"I was already generous enough not to summon him to me.
And now he dares to make *me* wait?
Who does he think he is?
Harrison shook off Queen’s grip and continued his advance.
"Stay out of this. Let’s see if this bastard even has the guts to lay a hand on me."
If this bodyguard dared to lay a finger on him without knowing his place, everyone in this private room—including the organizers of this auction—would face consequences they couldn’t handle.
Queen clearly sensed Harrison’s intentions and was about to speak up when—
"My apologies, but I must insist."
The moment Harrison took a step forward, Kai swiftly clamped a hand on his shoulder, exerting enough force to halt him in his tracks.
"You may not enter without our employer’s permission."
His voice was mechanical, icy, leaving no room for negotiation.
The grip on Harrison’s shoulder felt like a vise, sending a dull ache through his muscles.
Harrison sucked in a sharp breath, barely suppressing a wince.
"Tsk—"
Harrison drew a sharp breath through clenched teeth, his face darkening as he glared at Kai before him.
"You damn bastard!
Let go of me now!"
Kai’s expression remained ice-cold, utterly unmoved.
"Take one step back, and I’ll release you."
Otherwise, they’d stay locked in this stalemate.
Not an inch of ground would be given.
"You’re asking for death!!"
Harrison’s face twisted with fury, and he swung his fist toward Kai’s face.
Kai’s eyes narrowed.
Just before the punch could land, his hand shot up, clamping around Harrison’s wrist like a vice.
"You dare lay hands on me?!"
Harrison’s pupils contracted sharply, his voice low and deliberate.
The rage radiating from him was so intense it seemed to scorch the very air.
The scene unfolds before them send shockwaves through everyone present—except Kai.
Tension thickened the atmosphere, faces paling in disbelief.
If anything were to happen to this gentleman at their auction, they couldn’t possibly bear the responsibility.
The men exchanged glances.
One quickly left to fetch the person in charge, while the others took a couple of cautious steps toward Harrison, as if afraid Kai might actually do something to him.
"Sir, you mustn’t resort to violence.
Please release Mr. Harrison."
"That’s right, sir.
If you don’t want trouble, you’d better back off now."
"Fighting will only make things worse.
Let him go."
Was this even considered violence?
Kai frowned slightly.
This foreigner was being overly dramatic.
His gaze swept over them dismissively before settling back on Harrison.
His tone remained icy but polite.
"This gentleman threw the first punch.
I was merely acting in self-defense.
If anyone needs persuading, it should be him."
"Self-defense?"
Harrison clearly wasn’t used to being treated this way.
His expression had gone beyond mere displeasure—it was downright thunderous.
