Rebirth: The Ascent of a Socialite
Chapter 294 - 91: Indulgence 2
CHAPTER 294: CHAPTER 91: INDULGENCE 2
Chang Chi drove around the city without a clue, in the busy traffic of 6 to 7 PM, not caring about the dense flow of vehicles, pressing hard on the accelerator, crossing through the roads as if she was drunk. She didn’t know where to go, only realizing today that Su Family, where she had spent over a decade, was not her true refuge.
She and her mother could only shrink within the shadows of the Su Family’s large mansion. Su Ziceng and Yan Wuxu’s unborn child was the true future master of the Su Family. She couldn’t accept it—why did it have to be this way? Chang Chi couldn’t understand why her mother had tolerated and kept silent for so many years. Some of her mother’s actions were simply beyond her comprehension.
In those days, Su Ziceng’s mother had taken Su Qingzhang away from her and she remained indifferent. Now, Yan Wuxu had taken Su Qingzhang, and she still had not taken extreme measures. Sometimes, Chang Chi even thought that Chang Mei was too tolerant, almost to the point of weakness.
"I will never end up like her, just letting it go," Chang Chi slammed down on the brakes again, grazing a car that was in the way, attracting a bout of cursing. Her car finally stopped in the Sixth District.
The gloomy sky, the small houses, children gathered around at the sound of the car. Everyone was watching her, it was only in their eyes that she truly felt like a grand young lady.
Chang Chi finally felt a long-lost sense of solidity.
"Xiao Chi, you’re here," her biological father emerged from a decrepit house, hurriedly looking at her. He was rarely sober, his eyes still bearing signs of his recent drunkenness, bloodshot and squinting.
"Ran out of money for drinks again?" Chang Chi dodged the question, taking out her wallet. The drunkard didn’t wait for her to give the money, just snatched the wallet from her hand, wetting his fingers with saliva and greedily counting the money.
Chang Chi watched how the wallet got stained with a few black marks, and looked at the nearly furniture-less shabby house, only a bed for sleeping and a broken table that seemed to have been scavenged from somewhere. She shivered involuntarily.
The Ferrari outside attracted the curious eyes of the neighbors. The snatched wallet with its evident Chanel logo made her hug her coat tighter around her. She suddenly realized she had made a mistake, she should not have talked back to Su Qingzhang, she should have agreed in accordance with Su Qingzhang’s wishes.
Chang Chi sadly watched the run-down house and the man who went swaying out to buy more liquor after counting the money. She held back her tears and walked out. After leaving the Sixth District, her car headed straight for Zone 3, wishing to indulge for one night.
In the PUB, bright and colorful lights and deafening music. Chang Chi sat at the bar. This was a newly opened PUB, Hang Yishao had brought her here a few times back when they were still close.
The alcohol here was strong, the crowd was mixed, both suiting her current mood very well.
It was hard to tell if it was the smell of alcohol or cigarettes, but Chang Chi’s mind was getting more and more dizzy. Images of Hang Yishao’s face intermittently danced in her mind, followed by Su Qingzhang’s face when he had ordered her to break up with Hang Yishao, and then her worthless alcoholic father’s face.
Her vision kept blurring, and her mind grew heavier. A decent-looking single woman sitting alone at the bar always attracted some ill-intentioned men flirting with her.
Chang Chi, however, ignored them. After drinking a few martinis and feeling a bit dizzy, she stood up, planning to fumble her way back home.
It seemed a couple of figures flashed by in front, Chang Chi straining her eyes to look clearly. It looked like Fei Qing. Chang Chi subconsciously thought of Hang Yishao, she immediately looked next to Fei Qing, but didn’t see Hang Yishao there.
Recently, it seemed Fei Qing hadn’t been hanging out with Hang Yishao, who had started to become more responsible. Chang Chi reflected on what her mother told her today, that Hang Yishao had reached an agreement with Su Qingzhang, not just about the marriage, but it seemed there was also some business agreement.
The woman in Fei Qing’s arms, as Chang Chi shook her head a bit, another man came up to flirt with her.
"Go away," Chang Chi pushed the person away, she thought she saw Yan Wuxu, it couldn’t be possible, how could Yan Wuxu be here with Fei Qing. Chang Chi bumped through several people, desperately squeezing through the crowd.
The figure clinging to Fei Qing was petite. Their faces distorted under the influence of light and alcohol, making them hard to see clearly. From Chang Chi’s angle, she could only see two silhouettes almost merging together. She could barely make out that the woman leaning against Fei Qing looked somewhat familiar.
"Fei Qing!" Chang Chi yelled, trying to stop the person ahead. Amid the loud noise, Fei Qing heard a woman calling his name, puzzled, he was about to turn around. Yan Wuxu also heard it, thinking it was one of Fei Qing’s old flings, she jealously glanced back with resentment.
Just as the three were about to make eye contact, Chang Chi’s view was blocked by a tall figure.
Among the crowd twisting like snakes, the appearance of the man standing in front of Chang Chi was quite abrupt. Several buttons on the front of the man’s shirt were undone, revealing his well-defined chest muscles.
Fei Qing and Yan Wuxu had already seen Chang Chi, their expressions changed and they quickly disappeared at the entrance of a private room. Chang Chi couldn’t see who was in front of her, only felt her legs go weak and was suddenly held in the arms of the newcomer.
The man’s low laughter was in her ears, his breath heavy with a strong smell of alcohol, perhaps even a tinge of blood, "Miss Chang, where are you heading to?" (To be continued.
