CHAPTER 445: CHAPTER 186: A FLIRTATIOUS OFFICE
186-187
Pello rarely made mistakes, as his experiences in the Alps had taught him that once a mistake occurred, it could likely lead to a fatal encounter with beasts. The last incident with Olson was a bitterly painful lesson.
Yet this time he did make a mistake, and the person who caused it was still standing unconsciously in front of him.
The pen in Su Ziceng’s hand, along with the contract, caused Pello to break out in a cold sweat. Like Su Ziceng, his complexion was not great due to lack of sleep, which is why he dropped the pen this morning.
This morning, Su Qingzhang had specifically sought him out; needless to say, it was because of Hang Yishao’s conversation yesterday that he had grown suspicious of him. Pello had struggled to deal with it, and now he was faced with Su Ziceng’s skeptical eyes.
The Su Ziceng standing before him seemed much more real than the one in the surveillance video; what Pello did not know was that he would be watching her all night long. This included her sleeping posture, the occasional sleep talk, and even the girlish demeanor during her phone call with Lin Ying, all of which were completely foreign to Pello so that by the time he realized it, dawn had broken.
The Blue Love Pen still lay in Su Ziceng’s hands. The pen, somewhat masculine in appearance, seemed to take on a charm within the slender fingers of a woman.
That hint of charm made the silence between them unbearably long.
"I came in to help organize the files," Su Ziceng put down the document; although she was curious about the high-pressure pump, it still wasn’t right to ask about it without permission having peeked at others’ files.
She set down the document, but the pen was still in her hand.
"You keep on organizing," said Pello, before walking around the office desk and approaching the vertical blinds, pulling them down. This shut out all prying eyes from outside.
"Is this the Blue Love?" Su Ziceng asked knowingly. She also noticed something different about Pello today; his eyes seemed to dodge hers awkwardly.
"Yes," Pello lowered his head and moved the document aside. The pen was still held by Su Ziceng, Pello could feel the warmth from the pen radiating onto him.
"Do you feel unwell?" Su Ziceng leaned closer with a smiling face and her eyes that twinkled with cheerfulness crossed into Pello’s gaze at close range.
Pello felt a dizziness as if being blinded by bright lights; he steadied himself, feeling his mouth dry.
"You seem to be in good spirits," both hadn’t slept well, but Su Ziceng still seemed buoyant. The call she’d had earlier seemed to affect her greatly. Pello couldn’t help but care, wondering who was on the other end of the phone.
"What did the chairman want with you?" Su Ziceng pushed Pello to sit on the office desk, then glanced back at the closed vertical blinds before settling beside Pello’s desk.
Her legs, unheeding of decorum, dangled and swung slightly in front of Pello’s eyes.
The swaying made Pello even dizzier, and his hand pressed down on her leg, feeling Su Ziceng’s warmth through the straight pant leg.
The two fell silent again, "Did you know about Hang Yishao and the chairman discussing your engagement?"
The conversation with Su Qingzhang that morning carried an evident warning. Su Qingzhang had already begun to doubt Pello’s identity and instructed him to stick to handling the "Golden Coast". The rest would be taken care of by employees from the finance department.
Pello didn’t have much objection to this; Su Qingzhang was probably just waiting for him to finish the "Golden Coast" project before finding a reason to fire him. The question was whether he would have the chance to wait until then.
"Me and Yishao?" Su Ziceng tried to jump off the table, but her legs were pinned by Pello and she couldn’t move them.
"I didn’t know about your engagement?" Pello’s brow furrowed, but he didn’t let the crease spread. The Su Family wanted to promise their daughter in marriage multiple times.
The hands gripping her legs tightened, Su Ziceng struggled lightly, thinking that it wasn’t just an engagement; they had already gotten married.
As the grip on her legs eased, Su Ziceng relaxed, barely parting her legs when Pello stood up again, his chin resting on her shoulder, his face turned towards her back. This way, she couldn’t see his expression.
He stood between Su Ziceng’s legs, hands falling to her waist, their current posture somewhat indecent.
