Upon meeting Lin Ruixian, and knowing she left an impression on him, Gu Ningyue felt relieved.

Everything requires a step-by-step approach; she didn’t intend to achieve everything in one go.

Judging from Lin Ruixian’s demeanor, he must still have some feelings for her from the past!

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked that question proactively.

Gu Ningyue munched on the sushi in her hand while asking Shen Hanyin, who was driving, "Have you heard any news about the Lin Group lately?"

Shen Hanyin nodded slightly, "I’ve heard a bit about the Lin Group recently. I heard the youngest son of the Lin Group returned these past two years. A while ago, Mr. Lin wanted him to take over the Lin Group, but recently, it’s been reverting back to Lin Ziyue for some reason."

Gu Ningyue chuckled, indeed, how could someone like Lin Ruixian, who always yearns for freedom, do such a tedious job?

"I see!" Gu Ningyue responded lightly, "Lin Ziyue was adopted by Mr. Lin, but he seems to have run the Lin Group well over the years. As soon as Lin Ruixian returned, Lin Ziyue had to give way. If it was me, I’d be eager for Lin Ruixian to leave sooner."

Shen Hanyin shook her head upon hearing this, "That’s where you are wrong. It was Lin Ziyue who suggested Lin Ruixian take over the Lin Group. You didn’t attend those events back then, so you missed that touching moment, I was almost moved."

Gu Ningyue imagined that scenario and accidentally voiced her thoughts, "Lin Ruixian must not have been present back then! If he were, he’d have rushed up and shut him up!"

Shen Hanyin was surprised, "How did you know? Lin Ruixian indeed didn’t show up that day."

She hadn’t wanted to go either, but she couldn’t help but attend as her parents were vacationing abroad, and it wouldn’t look good for the Shen Family if no one showed up for such an event.

Every time she experienced such occasions, Shen Hanyin wished she had siblings to share the burden.

At worst, adopting someone like the Lin Family did wouldn’t be bad either.

Gu Ningyue gave a faint smile, "Since Lin Ruixian was always away, he must have had no interest in business. Under such pressure, why would he be willing? Look, he didn’t even want the family business handed to him!"

"You do have a point," Shen Hanyin thought for a moment, "But what do you think Lin Ruixian was doing before, during those years he was away? I heard he never asked for a penny from home. How did he survive?"

If it were other young masters, like Ye Mingchen, they may have cried and begged to return home already!

Gu Ningyue certainly knew Lin Ruixian’s ways of making money, but she couldn’t disclose such things to Shen Hanyin.

"I don’t know," Gu Ningyue said, "Next time we meet him, we can ask."

Shen Hanyin parked the car at a nearby cafe, "That could be hard. Young Master Lin is elusive; he’s even harder to find than your brother! He’s been back in City A for over two years now, and I haven’t seen him once."

Even though she rarely attends events, it’s indeed rare to see a young master like Lin Ruixian who doesn’t show up at all.

"We’ve got plenty of time," Gu Ningyue smiled, "Maybe he’ll make an appearance at your wedding?"

Speaking of weddings, Shen Hanyin sighed involuntarily, "I’m going to need a boyfriend for a wedding first."

She had been giving Ji Zhiye the cold shoulder lately, and Ji Zhiye seemed to get the hint, as he hadn’t actively sought her.

But the more things stand this way, the more distressed Shen Hanyin feels.

"Has Ji Zhiye stopped contacting you?" Gu Ningyue asked after some thought.

Shen Hanyin nodded, "Yeah! I don’t talk to him, and he doesn’t reach out either. He doesn’t seem to care who I am nor intends to be with me."

Gu Ningyue opened the cafe door, "Don’t worry, whoever stays composed wins."

Shen Hanyin shrugged noncommittally, "I don’t know, maybe he just feels a bit fond of me?"

Gu Ningyue raised an eyebrow, "All affection starts with fondness, unless he has other likable girls, so he’s not giving up on the other prospects for you."

Shen Hanyin’s heart ached, "If that’s really the case, then there’s nothing regrettable."

Finding a well-lit spot, Gu Ningyue placed the sushi in her hand on the table.

A waiter came over to ask what they’d like to order, Gu Ningyue casually ordered a cup of coffee and a dessert, then handed the ordering iPad to Shen Hanyin.

Shen Hanyin sipped her coffee while tasting a piece of Lin Ruixian’s sushi, "It’s really good! It’s the best sushi I’ve had in the last two years."

Gu Ningyue curved her lips, as if she were the one being praised, "I think so too."

When they partnered before, knowing Gu Ningyue rarely had timely meals, Lin Ruixian would always share some of his sushi with Gu Ningyue.

Initially, Gu Ningyue teased him for bringing lunch boxes during tasks, but over time, she got used to it.

Later on, she felt awkward when Lin Ruixian stopped bringing lunch boxes.

"Hey, where has Xing Tong gone? Look at her social media!"

After finishing a piece of sushi, Shen Hanyin exclaimed while scrolling through her phone.

"What’s up?" Gu Ningyue curiously opened her phone. In the social media photos, Chi Xingtong stood amidst a sea of flowers wearing a white chiffon dress, her S-shaped figure faintly visible, like an elegant dancing fairy. "Does City A have such a paradise?"

Shen Hanyin looked closely for a while, "It doesn’t seem like City A, probably a nearby small town."

Gu Ningyue asked, "So who took this picture of her?"

Shen Hanyin shook her head, "I don’t know."

Gu Ningyue liked Chi Xingtong’s social media post, then put her phone aside, "Maybe it’s Su Heng? Or..."

Gu Ningyue didn’t finish her sentence, fearing it might upset Shen Hanyin.

Shen Hanyin said, surprised, "Could it be? Chi Xingtong’s actually with Su Heng? Then I might often see a big star now?"

Gu Ningyue chuckled, "No, no, I was just joking. Maybe it’s Chi Xingtong’s friend?"

However, the outfit in Chi Xingtong’s photo doesn’t match her usual bold style.

The photographer might not be Su Heng, but this kind of change is likely done for Su Heng!
