Rebirth! The Assassin's Revenge
Chapter 190: I Won’t Do That
CHAPTER 190: CHAPTER 190: I WON’T DO THAT
The sunlight of City Y spilled through the car window, casting a gentle, indescribable warmth in Gu Ningyue’s gaze, as if it had traveled from a distant past life.
For some reason, Lin Ruixian found himself momentarily entranced by her.
Those eyes, no matter what appearance they might take, always caused him to fall hopelessly.
It wasn’t until Gu Ningyue waved her hand in front of him that he finally snapped out of it: "Uh... we were just catching up, talking about some past events."
Gu Ningyue nodded, thought for a moment, and asked, "Then, did he meet my mentor?"
The seemingly casual question belied her heart racing almost to her throat.
It was the first time she had inquired about her mentor’s whereabouts in so long.
Lin Ruixian hesitated slightly: "I didn’t ask."
Gu Ningyue turned her head, looking at the dazzling buildings by the roadside, masking her inner disappointment.
Lin Ruixian was a bit surprised at her demeanor, "I thought you had long been in contact with your mentor."
From the first day he met Gu Ningyue, he knew who was the most important to her in the organization.
He had never mentioned Gu Ningyue’s mentor these past few days because he subconsciously thought that she had already reconnected with her mentor, which is why she seemed so calm and collected.
So now, it turns out she hadn’t?
Gu Ningyue lightly shook her head while looking out the window: "No, before I boarded the ship, my mentor and I had lost contact."
She had gone on that ferry in place of her mentor, and before that, her mentor had taken on other tasks and departed, severing their ties completely.
After being reborn, Gu Ningyue had secretly investigated her mentor’s whereabouts.
However, it was as if her mentor had vanished from the human world.
After all, compared to her own skills, her mentor’s were far superior beyond count.
To hide one’s traces was not a difficult task.
And Lin Ruixian had already left the organization before undertaking her mission, so if he hadn’t specifically looked, he’d have no contact with anyone in the organization.
Especially with her mentor, seeing them would be as hard as reaching the sky for Lin Ruixian.
So, she never asked Lin Ruixian.
"Then next time I see Cheng Yihan, shall I ask for you?" Lin Ruixian probed, "Maybe he knows where your mentor is. Or has met them!"
Gu Ningyue nodded, "Thanks."
Cheng Yihan always had collaborations with people in the organization, and they probably hadn’t yet lost contact over so long.
Perhaps, there’s a glimmer of hope.
Back at the hotel, Lin Ruixian asked at the elevator, "Shall we talk in my room or yours?"
Gu Ningyue hesitated slightly: "Let’s go to your room!"
Lin Ruixian nodded, leading Gu Ningyue as they entered inside.
After closing the door, Lin Ruixian pulled a chair over to the balcony: "Have a seat!"
The hotel’s surroundings were nice, and from here you could see a splendid riverside view.
Gu Ningyue and Lin Ruixian sat facing each other, and he began to relay the conversation he had with Cheng Yihan: "I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?"
Gu Ningyue said, "Good news first!"
Having some hope first is always good.
Lin Ruixian straightforwardly said, "Cheng Yihan does indeed have another piece of Blood Jade, and he hasn’t yet carved it."
Gu Ningyue felt a trace of joy in her heart, then asked, "And the bad news?"
Lin Ruixian looked into her eyes: "The bad news is that Cheng Yihan has already sold that piece of Blood Jade to a rich heir, who is coming to City Y to get it in three days."
Gu Ningyue asked, "A rich heir? How much was the offer? Can’t we offer a higher price?"
Before, Ling Tianyou had given her a card with a monthly limit of ten million; although the Blood Jade was precious, with her current card balance, she figured buying it was more than feasible.
Lin Ruixian shook his head, "Impossible, the fellow doesn’t lack money, he’s just playing around."
Gu Ningyue said, "Then we have to find another way."
Lin Ruixian responded, "It’s just that I’ve heard the rich heir’s family has some background; his parents are officials, so the approach can’t be too forceful."
"Hmm." Gu Ningyue looked at Lin Ruixian: "With you around, do we still need a forceful approach?"
With Lin Ruixian there, perhaps he could easily get the Blood Jade.
Yet Lin Ruixian suddenly shook his head: "No, that person is said to be very cautious, keeping all strangers at a distance. Do you think if I appear out of nowhere, his people would give me a chance to approach? I can only confuse one person at a time."
Gu Ningyue sighed: "Then what should we do?"
Lin Ruixian mused for a moment: "If not, try negotiating! Your fiancé, with a stomp, could make City A tremble, can’t he handle one rich heir?"
Gu Ningyue looked embarrassed, "When I came to City Y with you, I didn’t tell Ling Tianyou."
If she told Ling Tianyou about this, wouldn’t it be like handing him a knife to behead her with?
Lin Ruixian shrugged: "It’s bound to happen sooner or later, even if you don’t say it, he will find out eventually."
Gu Ningyue knew Lin Ruixian was right, but taking the initiative to contact Ling Tianyou and ask for help felt a bit daunting: "Let’s just wait! We’ll see if it doesn’t work."
Lin Ruixian glanced up at Gu Ningyue: "So, do you have a plan?"
"It’s not necessarily that we need Ling Tianyou here." Gu Ningyue patted her chest: "As the fiancée of President Ling, they should give some face!"
Lin Ruixian chuckled: "What a move, using the tiger’s power. But don’t underestimate Lu Qingqing, she’s not someone to mess with!"
"Am I afraid of anyone... wait, what did you say? Lu, Lu Qingqing?" Gu Ningyue widened her eyes: "Are you sure it’s her?"
Lin Ruixian was puzzled, "Sure, why?"
Gu Ningyue’s mouth curled into a smile: "I—saved her sister’s life!"
Unexpectedly, she encountered Lu Qingqing here.
I wonder if Ji Qianqian came along. If Ji Qianqian is here, the chances of success would surely increase significantly.
"So, negotiate first and see?" Lin Ruixian stroked his chin, "If it doesn’t work, having you makes it easier for me to make a move."
With Gu Ningyue’s backing, approaching Lu Qingqing became much easier, "By the way, the sister you saved is the girl she always has by her side?"
Gu Ningyue nodded: "Yes, does Mr. Cheng know of this?"
Lin Ruixian answered, "Just mentioned it. Lu Qingqing seems to care a lot about that girl. As a last resort, we could use her as a bargaining chip to exchange for the Blood Jade. But this plan might be risky without the organization’s cover."
Hearing Ji Qianqian’s name, Gu Ningyue suddenly turned serious: "No, we cannot use her as a bargaining tool."
Even though she knew Lu Qingqing would surely exchange the Blood Jade for her, she still wasn’t willing to do so.
