Victor Bennett saw the situation and frowned, speaking discontentedly.

"Mason, do you really have to be like this? You’re even jealous of a girl."

However, Mason didn’t even bother to acknowledge him, not even sparing him a glance.

Bella Green awkwardly pushed against his chest.

"Knock it off."

Mason heard her words, frowned, and looked at Bella with displeasure, his arm around her shoulders tightening.

Victor rolled his eyes dramatically and muttered under his breath, "Childish."

With the heavy rain and nothing much to do, Victor suggested that they might as well watch a movie.

No one objected, so Victor eagerly ran off to set up a movie.

Joanna Ramsey sat on the couch, eagerly watching the TV screen.

However, as soon as it started, she felt something was off.

Damn, is this a horror movie?

Joanna instinctively pulled her legs up onto the couch and nudged Victor beside her.

"Why a horror movie? Don’t you have any comedies?"

Victor looked puzzled, "Why would we play a comedy? This atmosphere and weather are perfect for a horror movie. Besides, I don’t have any comedies at home."

Bella wasn’t particularly affected; in her past life, she had even starred in a horror movie for the thrill, so she wasn’t too scared.

Seeing that no one else had any objections, Joanna felt embarrassed to say more, so she curled up on the couch and watched.

The plot was fairly tame at the start, nothing too scary, so Joanna gradually relaxed and got engrossed in the movie, forgetting it was a horror film.

However, with a sudden flash of the camera, the heroine opened the door, and there was a creepy, blood-covered doll filling the screen.

Joanna screamed immediately and turned to leap into Victor’s arms, clinging to him like a koala, shaking in fear.

Even Victor, who hadn’t been scared before, was startled by her reaction.

"Joanna, you’re going to scare me to death!"

"How about we don’t watch it then?"

Bella glanced at Joanna and nodded, "It’s getting late; let’s go to bed early."

Victor checked the time, thinking it was still quite early at 8:30, but seeing Joanna so scared, all other thoughts vanished.

The group went upstairs together, and at the guest room door, Joanna clung to Bella’s arm, pouting, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Bella, can I sleep with you?"

Bella looked at her trembling appearance and pinched her cheek, smiling, "Alright, we’ll sleep together."

No sooner had these words left her mouth than Joanna received a look scarier than the horror movie itself.

It was Mason, squinting his eyes, casting a cold glance at her.

Though he said nothing, and his expression showed no change, that look was enough to make Joanna’s legs tremble in fear, feeling even more wronged.

"I-I’d better sleep alone."

Bella naturally understood Joanna was scared by Mason and glared at him, "Don’t scare her; she’s already frightened enough."

Mason said nothing in response, his expression still grim.

Victor eyed Mason’s demeanor, genuinely worried he’d get angry and toss Joanna out. So he quickly intervened, saying to Joanna.

"Why don’t you sleep with me instead?"
