CHAPTER 541: CHAPTER 541: AYUAN, CAN YOU COME OVER TO KEEP ME COMPANY?
The air solidified for a moment, then Joanna Ramsey widened her eyes and glared angrily at Victor Bennett.
"You pervert!!" The young woman shouted and then darted into the guest room, slamming the door shut.
It’s as if she’s afraid someone might try something untoward, she directly locked it.
Hearing the sound of the lock, Victor Bennett was so infuriated that he almost pounded on the door.
What does this mean? Wasn’t he just trying to prevent her from being scared?
Ungrateful little brat!!
Bella Green saw this and chuckled helplessly, turning around and heading into her own room.
Mason Bennett furrowed his brow but ultimately said nothing, returning to his room.
Only Victor Bennett was left standing there, looking frustrated.
Finally, he also went back to his room.
...
The rain not only showed no signs of stopping but it was getting heavier, lightning and thunder continuously erupted, with lightning striking every few minutes, illuminating half the sky.
Victor Bennett’s game interface was suddenly interrupted, and a pop-up appeared.
Just as he was about to swear, Victor Bennett saw the name on the phone and paused, suddenly picking up the call hurriedly.
"Phoebe, what’s wrong?"
"Victor, where are you?" The woman’s voice came through with a hint of sobbing.
Victor Bennett paused, then asked anxiously, "I’m at home, Phoebe, what’s wrong, why are you crying?"
"It’s been thundering and lightning outside, it’s so scary, can you come and keep me company?"
Hearing this, Victor Bennett glanced at the weather outside; indeed, there was lightning every now and then, and the thunder was frighteningly loud.
"Phoebe, are you at your city apartment or at the villa?" he asked.
Fiona Grantham has several residences, and he wasn’t sure where she was.
"At the villa, I’m the only one here, it’s really scary, someone even said online that they want to come find me, Victor, I’m really scared, I want to see you."
Listening to her weak and helpless voice, Victor Bennett hesitated only for a moment before getting up, grabbing his coat and heading out, speaking as he walked.
"Phoebe, wait for me, I’m coming over right away."
With that, he hung up the phone and headed to the stairwell.
Just as he passed by the guest room door, he heard a suppressed cry, followed by a muffled sobbing sound.
At this late hour, hearing this startled Victor Bennett, and he looked toward the source of the sound, surprisingly.
This is Joanna Ramsey’s room.
He thought for a bit, and went over to knock on the door.
The moment he knocked, the person inside let out a scream of fright.
Victor Bennett was at a loss for words.
"It’s me, what’s wrong?"
Upon hearing his voice, the room immediately fell silent, followed by a few banging sounds.
Then, the door was pulled open, and Joanna Ramsey leapt straight into Victor Bennett’s arms.
"Boohoo, Victor Bennett, I think I just saw a doll outside the window, it’s so scary."
Hearing the girl’s tearful and terrified trembling voice, Victor Bennett was startled, quickly went inside and turned on the light, then walked to the window and pulled open the curtains, but there was nothing.
He looked at the bed which had obviously been slept in and asked, "Did you have a nightmare?"
Joanna Ramsey still clung to him, upon hearing his words she raised her head with a sob, her small face pale with fright.
The girl thought for a moment, sobbing, and after a while, in a muffled voice, said, "I think, I think it was a dream, right."
Victor Bennett was at a loss for words, then dragged her and placed her on the bed, pulling the covers over her.
"Sleep well, I’ll leave the lights on."
Joanna Ramsey obediently nodded.
Victor Bennett turned to leave, but as soon as a loud thunderclap and a lightning flash that nearly lit up half the sky came from outside, Joanna Ramsey screamed and crawled out of the bed, rolling and scrambling to catch up with Victor Bennett, grabbing onto him desperately.
