CHAPTER 57: TOWN WITH NO NAME

I’m glad we made it out of the mountains alive but the next stop ahead was probably going to be the town. I looked on the map with the others but it didn’t even appear to be in the map.

It’s kind of weird to think about that since most places should be covered on here— Yet something tells me that people might’ve kept it off the map for good reasons.

Some people are better off hidden away from the world so they don’t have to deal with the harshness of it all. A town with no name is where it seems we’ll be going, but maybe it’ll be good for us.

"This place is definitely going to be interesting, I’ve never been here." Shimada speaks up while looking ahead.

A place that not even Shimada has been to? I’m actually kind of baffled by that since he’s been all over from what he’s told us. This is the most traveling I’ve done since leaving the estate awhile ago.

We’ve been going all throughout a continent that we have never been to before so I’m not sure what’s what around here. Amelia and Cynthia are in the same boat as me since we all came from Zerif.

"Uncharted territory for us all it seems." Liora says with her arms crossed.

Artemis keeps one hand on the handle of his sword. "We’ll just have to be cautious as we enter the place." Artemis responds with a cautious tone.

I’d like to think that I’ve done pretty well with holding it together after all the killing and bloodshed that I’ve endured. I doubt most kids even go through half of this but I could be wrong.

There’s a lot of things that I have been wrong about in this world the way it is— From the moment I met all the guys I fought I knew that this world was going to be rough.

It wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of kids have shitty childhoods since there’s so much killing in this world.

"Let’s head into the town, no need to delay anything." Cynthia chimes in with a hand on her sword as well.

It didn’t take very long for them to approach the town before them, it was quite active for a town with no name to it. People were walking along the road, buying things at stalls along the sidewalk, and even seem to be normal.

The town had more human like architecture done to it than any of the other species like the elves or dwarves. It was still kind of nice to look at compared to the other places they have gone.

Avania was still at the top of the list for the best places they’ve seen so far, but this was definitely up there.

I didn’t expect an unknown town to look this nice, especially with the fact that it’s not on the map at all. Maybe that’s why it’s able to look as good as it does— they haven’t had any people here to bother them or to attack the town.

That makes a lot more sense why it would be in such good shape, but how many people truly made it through the mountains to this sight?

A town at the otherside of these deadly mountains is definitely quite odd when you think about it.

Tap. Tap. Artemis turns to see Amelia trying to get his attention. "I don’t know what it is but this town feels like it could be a safe spot to rest." Amelia says with a little bit of confidence.

The people of the town don’t seem to be surprised by the party’s arrival, they actually seem kind of excited about it. "New people, how lovely is that." A man says in the distance.

"I think it’ll be a safe spot to rest as well." Artemis replies.

Originally I was doubting the safety since it happens to be the first place we see outside of the mountains but I’m not sensing anything bad from the town.

Not that I really have a way to sense everything properly, it’s just kind of like Helfri when we woke up in the morning. I’ve still never figured out if someone ever snuck in but we’re all okay.

That’s what throws me off about this whole journey since Helfri— I never asked anyone about the room or if they felt the same way as I did about it.

Liora did put some magical barriers in place to protect everyone, it’s just something felt off about it. If the reaper was that wrong than how come we didn’t have any late night attacks?

"You have a habit of overthinking things don’t you Artemis." The girls voice echoes.

"Only when it’s a serious matter." He responds to her.

She disappears without saying anything further to him, this was kind of the usual for him to experience with her. The girl never stays for long and when she does it’s during the fights that they have against the cult members.

Leaving a mystery for him to think about each time, why doesn’t he know anything about her or why won’t she tell him more?

I’ll figure everything out with that girl at some point or another, just like the goddess that gave me these abilities. I haven’t seen her in awhile though but maybe that’s a good thing for the time being.

She loves watching what I do right now anyway so this is probably quite the show for her.

Liora points towards an inn with no name visible on the sign for them to stay at. "Guess I found our resting place for the night." Liora says with a bit of excitement.

I think that’s the first time I’ve heard her get excited about something since she’s joined us.

"Excited about finding a resting spot?" Shimada asks, teasing her a bit.

The two of them bickered for a few moments after that, how nice that everyone gets along so well. Hmm.
